Wow. Bad play by Apple and Jobs after announcing late July.

Only because now we have to listen to a bunch of delusional d'bags who think they're ENTITLED to whatever they want. Ironically, this isn't exclusive to the US. Apple has proven the entire planet is full of pouty consumers who throw tantrums when they don't get their way.

On it goes. "Apple sucks because I want ______ and I want it now!"

CNBC news with Mark H and Erin B just announced it, and asked if someone could email them on why it is so difficult to paint the plastic.

It's not because you don't. If you want white plastic you order your parts to be molded from white plastic. If you want black parts they use black plastic. Your color choices are nearly endless. I've spent some time in an injection molding facility and they don't paint things.

Apple may lose some of those customers...to Android. Over on some of the Android forums there are quite a few iP4 and 3GS customers that joined the Android family after being jerked around by Apple. This latest news will only exagerate the problem.

When Android 2.2 (FROYO) comes out this fall...before the white iP4 is released - Android will finally have an OS that is superior in speed and performance to iOS. This delay in the white iP4 is Android's gain. Also RIMM is going to have OS 6.0 out this fall.

Apple's timing could not have been worse - but their competition is sure to enjoy it.

you cant compare RIM and Apple as RIM is more business suited. And android, well android is heading down the road that windows computers has gone, bloated with software you dont need and cant get rid of, even so there isanti virus software for android phones now, really think in the long run android will take over?

EDIT: if you need anti virus software for your phone now, that only says something about the OS, and ill give you a hint...its not something good.

Calm down. Imagine if you were moving to an apartment in another state. All preparations are made, your job starts the following Monday, and you get a phone call: "Oops, your apartment won't be ready til later this year." When something is promised, people are allowed to be upset about it. It's why companies like Blizzard are well-known for simply stating "Soon" instead of giving firm dates for things.

Could someone explain to me the deal with buying an iPhone the second time around? Say I get the iPhone 4 in black, if I sell it on eBay or return it, do I have to pay more for a white one when it's out?

I think Android is actually doing very well... With Froyo they increased the speed fairly substantially. Next iteration (Gingerbread) will finally address the nagging UI issue and make them more uniform.

As for "bloatware", the point of Android is openness and it's fairly simple and straightforward to install good Custom ROMs free of bloatware such as CyanogenMod.

The issue isn't that Apple sucks because I want ___...the issue that I, and many other people have is the dishonesty and arrogance that is coming out of Apple. It started this past year with the 27" iMac then happened during the iP4 launch when they had the nerve to tell people to turn off their WiFi during the conference...and then telling people there was no issues...just don't hold it this way and then last week trying to make it out that there was no design issue - all phones suck with reception like theirs and then the lie about the availability of the white iP4.

Integrity...that was something that Apple used to be known for. Now...they are no different than any other giant industry titan. They do and say what they want not carring if it is true or not. Screw the customers - we are here to make money.

your second point i didnt think about, but remember, alot of people that use smart phones arent into the whole modding the phone with different roms and what not because they are scared when they read this voids warranty and what not, im just speaking about the people that don't know you can mod a phone. Alot of these people arent like people on these websites who will "hack" and "mod" their phone's os to make it perfect, they dont even know its an option most of the time.

As was shown just this week with the massive security breach in Safari...Apple is no longer immune to mainstream security issues. As their platform grows so will the target on their back.

As far as bloatware - or whatever you want to call it - there are plenty of applications on nearly every brand (including Apple) that come preloaded that you can't delete. Android is no different. But just like jailbreaking an iPhone - you can root an Android and remove things like that.

firstly to nora..you dont need anti-virus on android..its just some people jumping on the apps bandwagon...a pointless needless app and there are plenty of those about for both android and ios4,secondly how come there is such a problem producing the white version,surely for a company with the support and backing that apple has it cant be so difficult to keep the delay for almost 6mths after the initial launch of the iphone4....by the time they do release it its going to be not far off the iphone5!!...sounds like they have decided to sort the antenna issue out then release it under the guise of manufacturing problems....that stands out like a sore thumb...because i hope they realise that a free bumper case thing is not the cure for a £600 piece of kit...it looks like apple are starting to go down the route of profit before quality..shame...

White plastic...not glass painted white. Massive difference in manufacturing. White is a very tricky color to paint in a way that it will not turn yellow over time.

i agree that there is major arrogance in apple with how big they have become, but dishonesty, where is your basis for that? Actually, they were dishonest on the reception issue playing it as nothing until the whole media world was blabbing about it, but thats one situation. i dont think they lied about the white iphone, they were given a timeframe from their manufacturers that apple thought was reasonable but in the end the manufacturer had to delay it, i think if anything anger of dishonesty needs to be thrown at the manufacturer more than apple in regards to the white iphone delay.

Indeed and that clearly played into Apple's hand in the sense that iPhones are very easy to use... even for the "less techie" market segment.

But to say Android as a platform is going down to drain is probably not an accurate statement either. I am really excited to see their UI improvement in Gingerbread because that is my top concern of Android platform after using Nexus One for around 5 months now.

You've got to be kidding. I could have had the black on launch day, but passed on it because I wanted the white. Now I have to wait another 3 weeks just to get my phone shipped because I have to settle for black. This launch was officially a nightmare for Apple.

I do not think a lot of people will be buying iPhone 4 in white. If they're having this much trouble producing it because of the paint, the general public is going to be cautious about purchasing it because of doubts that they'll have about the phone fading and turning yellow.

I'm just happy that Apple is not releasing another product with problems into the market. It's good that they're correcting it to the best of their abilities, they cannot afford anymore bad press.
