Given the timeframe the white one comes out I'll think I pass generation 4. So I guess my first FaceTime device will be the iPad G2 :D

My thoughts exactly. I am hoping that the next iPod Touch will offer FaceTime. If it does - I expect it to be a huge seller as it will offer this slick functionality without the antenna gate and AT&T network issues. Will make a nice addition to my Android X. If they launch the iPod Touch with FaceTime - I will buy one on launch day...just make it 64gb Mr. Jobs.

You've got to be kidding. I could have had the black on launch day, but passed on it because I wanted the white. Now I have to wait another 3 weeks just to get my phone shipped because I have to settle for black. This launch was officially a nightmare for Apple.

Yeah total nightmare indeed, phone barely been out a month, and they've sold 3 mill, and more millions to come, yeah worst launch ever, epic fail on their part, only 3 million sold in one month, never seen such an epic fail of a launch

I do not think a lot of people will be buying iPhone 4 in white. If they're having this much trouble producing it because of the paint, the general public is going to be cautious about purchasing it because of doubts that they'll have about the phone fading and turning yellow.

I'm just happy that Apple is not releasing another product with problems into the market. It's good that they're correcting it to the best of their abilities, they cannot afford anymore bad press.

i don't think white fading to yellow is a concern, i think the bigger concern is the white turning dirty because of the everyday use and what not, thats why i don't understand why people are soo crazy for the white iphone, havent you ever had a white car or tshirt....how dirty does that mofo get quickly outdoors?

Sounds like more of a nightmare for you guys....and for all the smartasses on here commenting on their "black is more popular" statement, I'm sure the are referring to the millions of black and white phones they have been selling over the past two years.

Although, I think having a white front as well will make this model more popular than the white 3G and 3GS.

honestly, i will not be shocked in the very least if the next ipod touch either requires a data plan or it is optional like the ipad, an ipod wifi+3g and a wifi only ipod touch. But apple is notorious for holding off on adding something to a product to boost another products sales, like limiting cameras on ipod touch to not hurt iphone sales

Uh. First, neither of those things are made of glass. Second, my car spends a lot of time outside by itself in all weather, which my phone wouldn't. My white iPod is 4 years old and it's still just as white as the day I bought it, even though it has never seen the inside of a case and is now scratched to high heaven.

Well all I can say is that I'm glad I held off pre-ordering the white version, in preparation for the Verizon model that will be out in a few weeks.

White plastic...not glass painted white. Massive difference in manufacturing. White is a very tricky color to paint in a way that it will not turn yellow over time.

Looking at teardown pictures of the black ones, they don't look painted to me but it was kinda hard to tell since they were all bonded so well and weren't able to take them apart. Still that's the great thing about glass, it's clear. If they are painting them it was a poor choice when they could have easily just went with white plastic.

ouch. steve must be pissed.

who gives a **** about steve!!!!!! were the ones who want the phone! his making millions! and can get an iphone with the snap of his fingers...were the ones who have been waiting and waiting and now...nothing. really thats terrible

You clearly haven't seen the first iteration of the white Dual USB iBook.

Man, that white is still looking - well - white, even after nearly 10 years on the road and whatnot. Yes, I still fire it up some times, when I feel the need to do dirty stuff in good old OS 9, that isn't possible on Macs anymore in a lean way. (e.g. cutting MP3 files in Quicktime Pro)

You do know that the white part is sealed under a piece of glass right? Seal that white t-shirt between two panes of glass, drop it in mud and see how dirty it gets.

You mean, "a nightmare for YOU"??
I also held off buying iPhone 4 on launch day and waited for the white one. Realized that it's not coming out anytime soon, I finally gave up and ordered black one instead.

Apple is doing really well actually. This quarter they achieved 16% sequential and 61% YOY increase in revenue is hardly a nightmare scenario for a company. They beat both top and bottom line estimates...

The white color is on the back side of the glass...so the white won't get any dirtier than black. The issue is the manufacturing of the white coated/painted glass which is then bonded somehow to the phone. Getting the glass dirty on the outside isn't the issue.

They're doing it so they don't have to give free bumpers

Little suspicious. Think they're doing this so they don't have to give a free bumper with the white phones? Hold it till after August..... Interesting. APPLE!

its comming out for verizon?

people who think the iphone is coming to either verizon or tmobile within a few weeks are reasons why most apple "fanboys" are seen as delusional to non apple users. The discussion of verizon coming in a few weeks never ends, even after those few weeks nothing happens....they now say its another few weeks. Even if Steve went on stage today and announced he Iphone 4 will be the last iphone, people would still be like thats a hint its coming to verizon!!! again, alot of apple "fanboys" are delusional

The interesting thing here is that just last week, Jobs said that the white would be delivered this month.

That was a carefully planned press conference, so I wonder what has really happened between then and now.

Also, if you think this launch is in any way bad for Apple, your missing the point. They sold 3 million phones in 3 weeks. Most phones won't sell half of that in a whole year.
