Is anyone else contemplating buying the black, and then in the event that the white is released, unlocking and e-baying the black and using that money to buy the white contract-free? Is that even feasible?
 
The ironic thing is the first picture in the 'iPhone 4 case program' app has a white iPhone with a black bumper.

Indeed people have done this with the original iphone, 3g, and 3gs (the ones that can actually be jailbroken and unlocked) it wont be any different with iphone 4 once the jailbreak and unlock is released, its a good way to get a little extra money.But if you thought the prices of ipone 4 on ebay is ridiculous now, its going to be even more ridiculous when its unlocked. So yeah its a good idea to buy say a 32gb black and when white comes out, jailbreak and unlock it....youll probably get at least $800 depending on how many unlocked iphone 4s flood ebay. but beware of ebay, it is essentially a place to ask to get ripped off. So many horror stories on this forum alone about people sending a phone, and then buyer says box was empty and ebay always sides with the buyer. Best thing would be to do craigslist and only meet the person in a large public place with lots of people, bring a friend and dont show phone until you see money. If they try to hassle you to meet somewhere else not so public, its a trap. My advice is to ask them to meet you in a mall, or even the parking lot of a police station....if they disagree they were trying to rip you off somehow or another. Also be wary of counterfeit money, it seems like it should be a non-issue but with how expensive and unlocked iphone4 will be, its wise.

this will be iphone 5 :) oh well 10 months till i have to sell this iphone 4 to get a decent return to buy the iphone 5 lol.

if you were to go through the whole thread, he was called a liar probably at least 50 times. but seriously hes not a liar, none of us know the real reasons behind the delay besides what is said, and you know what chances are its the freaking truth....and to be quite honest, people need to get over not being able to get a white iphone, especially if they already own a black one. Just buy a white case and get over it

I LOVE APPLE but you fan boys have to admit that the apple is turning sour, face fact

1 - so the imac issue just mentioned, not good is it
2 - lets make a bumper, you seriously cannot think they did not rush the troubled iphone to market and did not know about the antenna issue, apple have never been into cases etc so why start now, face facts they knew
3 - promised the white phone in the conference then now delay it, you are telling me they did not know then, rubbish and as soon as people face the facts the better rather than burying your i love apple head in the sand

face the facts? Guesse what, you and i dont have ALL the facts so shockingly you could be completely wrong pal....and so could i. And you know what, outside of this website, nobody is bitching and moaning about a white iphone....at least nowhere near as bad as some of the people here.

Whatever. Over it. Put my name on the reserve list at my Apple store and may place an order with AT&T if it will get here faster that way. I could have had one on launch day, for chrissakes, I was there waiting with my friend. Black has got the same screen, same internals. Its just a color. I was looking forward to the Tokyo chicness of the white, but hey - you can't always get what you want. That's what CNN.cn is for, if I ever feel the need. Wish Steve could have just been honest at the conference a week ago though. He HAD to have known.

Selfish may be a bit iffy, but there's a better term, 'bad faith'.

If you buy something with the unspoken intention of returning it to get a different product, you've just made a purchase in bad faith.

i returned the black one cus i changed my mind about it, and decided i wanted white.

but seriously, this ****s up contract windows, and screws the people who waited for white.

but im not waiting another few months for a colour variation, a few weeks i could do, but no way am i waiting any longer.


just reserved a black 32GB iP4 at my local o2 store, so i'll have it in the morning.
 
I wanted a white but settled on black launch day. Now I'm glad I did.

That said though, as much as I love my iPhone 4, and I am perfectly fine with AT&T even, I am beside myself at how much Apple has f'd this product launch up. It's not so much the antenna "issue" or the white not being available, it's the sheer ignorance/arrogance in which Apple has handled both situations. The lack of communication and courtesy to so many people... Not being upfront about anything at all...

It's really disappointing and makes me think twice about loving a big company so much. I really hope they can come back from all this.

The problem with waiting is all of us know, in the back of our minds, "later this year" means Christmas, or more likely, iPhone 5.

The issue of style over substance have surfaced in every corner of Apple's products over these few months. :(
Just wait for iPhone 4GS instead. It's going to fix all the things and it is coming out soon anyway (by the time the white hits the market).

and lol at the people who try to defend Apple and bitching at the people who complain.
