White iPhone 4 Delayed Once Again Until Spring 2011

Who is to say there will be an iPhone 5 in June anyway? Maybe they will speedbump the iPhone 4 and make it iPhone 4gs. Maybe the iPhone 4gs is going to have white availability and not the iPhone 4. I think all the discussion of iPhone 5 coming out is very premature. Especially if apple follows the product cycle of the 3G and 3GS.

Wow, I'm glad I didn't wait, that's crazy, mite as well get the 5. I have the white from iresq and light does shine through where the micro sim goes and on the sides a bit (this is if you have your brightness turned above the halfway point) so I never notice because I don't do that. But Apple is probably being more careful because if they release it you know how media will blow the littlest things up. "OMG, Apple release a phone with a tiny light shiny through" and etc. It'll be Antennagate all over again. But man they could have brought in much much more money if it came out for the holidays because it looks even better in person
 
good. so instead of wasting money i save for the iPhone5 that will be released 3 month after the withe iPhone4.

i guess if they figure out how to make a white iphone4 they will be able to make a iphone5 in white from the start.

1) By "next Spring", the iPhone 5 would have already been announced.
2) I speculate that the white iPhone 4 will be Verizon only, which is why they are delaying it.
 
i reckon its blatantly because they are tweaking the iphone 4 to correct the antenna issues and will release the black and white versions of the updated model simultaneously. Also i know most people are expecting an iphone 5 dot on june 24th but i have a sneaking suspicion that apple will wait longer this time, just a couple of months at least to increase initial uptake due to contract lengths. also atm the iphone has more ram than the ipad, thats a joke and they will need to sort that out first.

Right... This was all just a clever ploy by Apple to not sell you a white one when in secret they really could have.

Seriously, if they could have sold the white one (without problems) don't you think they would have?

Not really, my black one was returned after two days. My 3Gs works great, and it's white!

I'm thinking that there may be some sort of wrench thrown into the yearly cycle that has been expected, with things such as this and the Verizon iPhone. It'll be interesting to see when they update to the next generation, and what it actually entails.
 
The quote didn't say what version of the iPhone would be released in the spring.

uh...

no, i prefer that they sort out the problem. its been 5-6 months since they promised the white iphone. knowing apple, if they did not sort out the problem, then it is a freaking difficult one. in which case, i expect them to explain the cause for the delay, not "no comment" bs.

and fyi: they did not give a "date". spring 2011 is a season, not a date. it lasts 3 months. but, i am not sure they will stick to it, because they previously gave us a timeline ("date" in your dictionary) of the end of this year, which they are skipping without bothering to give us a reason.

whatever the next iPhone is called it's likely to be out next summer and therefore quite close to a withe iPhone4 release.

even if they delay the next iPhone be 6 month I just might wait. a smart phone is a luxury item that you buy on impulse (as long as the functionality is good enough for what you want).

the delay takes this impulse away from many customers and instead of buying another two year ATT locked phone just because it's sexy and white they will have the choice of a Verizon iPhone, a white ATT iPhone and waiting for the next generation. This will cost ATT a lot of customers who did not buy into a contract now.

I don't mean "without problems" as an absolute statement. We know nothing is perfect and lemons are going to come out but that percentage has to be small. The making of the white iPhone 4 (presumably) must have more issues than it's worth to Apple to release.

Yes, it would be nice and more appeasing to know why they are delaying again the white one. I can't imagine a really good reason as to why they won't say. Unless they're trying to protect one or more of their suppliers from bad press. But even still, just say that "one of our suppliers is having an issue with production and it just isn't turning out right." I think that would be enough, for most to accept.

I'm not sure I understand the logic. With the Verizon rumors appearing more realistic daily why the "no white phones" until spring be the catalyst to upgrade ASAP? It seems to me that the "no white" announcement encourages people to just wait since people their choice is buy black ATT now or buy black Verizon in 90 days. If this was some sort of marketing ploy then releasing white before XMas would be the $ maker. I don't think it's a ploy though -- card has been played too many time for that.

At any rate, strange that Apple wouldn't just cancel white all together. If they release a white phone in April I'm not sure why anyone would buy given June is the usual refresh month. (Unless the Verizon phone will be the 5th gen and reset the refresh clock to Jan).
