Well, I guess it will probably be out along with the next generation iPhone just like how the 3GS (8GB) is still selling along with the iPhone 4--

come spring and they'll delay the white ip4 until summer. maybe the white ip4 is actually the ip5!

lolz but on a serious note, u think that after delaying it AGAIN they would provide at least a tidbit of information in regards to the reason why its been delayed multiple times. oh :apple:

This really does piss me off. If Steve Jobs and Co. was so dedicated to quality products they could have done sufficient testing BEFORE announcing a product to prove that they could at least PRODUCE it. Only market and advertise product that you actually have the ability to sell. That's not Business 101, you learn that in elementary school. I could have been enjoying an iPhone 4 for 5 months now but instead I've been strung along by false promises. Rather than learn from this mistake and correct it by acknowledging they don't have the ability to produce this product, they choose to continue to mislead their customers with failed target date after failed target date. It is a good thing Apple has a solid track record with me in regards to other products because if this was my first experience with their products, it would certainly be the last.

Apple probably doesn't want to make themselves sound like they did the wrong thing, or any more bad news about the iPhone 4 after the antenna issues.

A reason for the lengthly issue is if it is light leakage, the two colors will be off at different intervals (each individual iPhone would have to be checked separately), so the leakage would have to be completely eliminated - a hard task.

In addition, if there in ANY changes in HW, then it would be another LONG while. For example, it isn't as simple as changing the metal, (it appears the current metal on the black one doesn't match the white color), it takes time. Plus, if Apple was going to internalize it, it would 1) completely redesign it, and 2) would make it thicker, which is nearly impossible after the extra compression from the new design.

Lastly, I think Apple will make any announcements about any new iPhone designs on the day that they release the Mac App Store, and iOS 4.2. (Possibly at a "We Put the App in Apple" event :)

This is going to piss a lot of people off. Why not they just call off producing the product?

There would be no point in selling one color to carrier A, and another to carrier B. Besides, most of the rumors suggest a hybrid CDMA/GSM iPhone 5.

why not? Most of the other cell phone manufacturers do with their devices.

wow....now I'm really glad I decided to go with black at launch....or else I would've waited this long and still been disappointed.

Such outrage from a troll. Probably a palm user. One of your first newbie posts:

I wonder if the return lines will be as long as the launch lines when early adopters realize their phones only get signal so long as they don't actually hold them!"

Apple is finding out issues that sign manufacturers have discovered long ago. White paint is not opaque. White paint done behind a clear surface will transmit color across it's surface of whatever color happens to occur besides the white. I am not saying that this is official skinny. It's not. But that is how the materials behave when we work with it. Sometimes, designs look great on paper and in illustrations. Then, physical properties rear its ugly head during manufacturing.

God. By the time anyone gets a white iPhone4, everyone else will have a (hopefully properly engineered) iPhone5.

Actually I have an iPhone 3G, a 32GB iPad, and an iMac. I'll admit I wasn't with Apple before they switched to intel chips because regardless of what diehard fanboys might believe, their hardware wasn't up to snuff. I'm not a troll, but I'll be the first to call ************* when I see it, and this is certainly *************.

Very uncool from apple. I would of got an white phone but did not and got the black iPhone in august

Well that sucks I really wanted to get a White iPhone 4. Maybe when the iPhone 5 comes around I will be able to get a white one again.

Ouch...can't be good news for the people waiting for it. Might as well wait for the 5 now. It'll probably be the same form factor anyway with antenna improvements.

why not? Most of the other cell phone manufacturers do with their devices.

And then carriers get people who wanted one color when they walk into the phone store, so they will either switch carriers or just choose a different phone. Either way, the carrier or the manufacturer hurts sales in the process. I can't see apple doing that, even if their relationship with AT&T was really bad, it could prevent companies from working with apple in the future if they know they will get screwed in the end. No halfway decent company would do that.

I guess i'll wait and buy a white iPhone 5. (Already have a black iPhone 4, but was going to sell it and buy a white one) Oh well..

I'm not surprised.

Same here. Gloss white is one of the most difficult colors to mass produce. Keeping color consistency from batch to batch is a huge QA issue. Temperature, pressure, oxygenation and pigment contribute to the color that can go from white to a beige or off yellow very quickly.

They did well with the white iMac's but that was a single piece and not three pieces. This is one reason why all the original IBM PCs were beige, that is a very stable color for polymers to keep.

Besides the fact that some people delete old long-standing accounts with monikers based on our real-names (in favor of a different pseudonym exposing less personal information), profile-age means absolutely NOTHING.
It doesn't reflect maturity, insight, knowledge or any respectable quality of the user.
Pissing on others for having an account before them is no better than the idiots who love to post "FIRST!!!" in threads. No one cares.

My point is, even if iStig was a flaming iTroll (which I'm not saying he was), being a troll with a profile that (for now) labels him/her as a 'newbie' is FAR more honorable/respectable than being a long-standing member who has yet to learn how not to be a presumptuous douche-nozzle (believing he/she knows anything about anyone from arbitrary site-generated profile info).

So why would apple ever need to do a marketing ploy? The only thing the apple store can keep in stock is third party products. This wont be the verizon iPhone, mostly because the iPhone 4 is all the same between white and black just three pieces make it a white Iphone, so when they get it right they would just use the hardware from the mass produced innards and put the glass on.
