Apple really screwed up on this one, I was undecided between the white and black and decided to wait so I could see both in person. apparently I have some will power because here I am still waiting...

I had already decided I would just wait till iphone 5 before this and this is just the nail in the coffin. Apple lost out on some money, at this point i'm running a beat up 3g and I've contemplated looking at an android!! this could all have been prevented apple!!

This is a fine case of someone who wants apple products because it scores them style points. Functionality is unaffected by color, so just get the black one.

Besides, people act like the i5 is right around the corner. It's 8-9 months away.

I can't believe they're finding it so difficult to produce! WTF is the problem... it's some white paint instead of black paint. Honestly, get it sorted ladies!! :apple:

I think the only thing that is getting more delays than the white iPhone, is Gran Turismo 5

HAHA!!! Nice one!!

I wonder what's going on with all the delays? Unless they're just going to wait to release the white one along side a slight revision of the iPhone (ie 3G/3GS)??

I guess I am not officially waiting for iPhone 5. Sheesh, I can't believe I waited this long. I don;t even care anymore, any excitement I had is now slowly being converted into iPhone 5 anticipation. The mythical iPhone 4 white version is easily the most beautiful phone on the market, I have friends that have been laughing at me since release waiting for that sucker! I guess I am the sucker now.

Tell me about it. I'm not sure what to do now. My 3g is driving me insane, I think its going to explode one of these days.

Isn't promising a product to customers & then never releasing it illegal? I definitely remember IBM doing this and they got into lots of trouble, why isn't anybody regulating Apple's claims?

At least give us an explanation for the delays

No. It isn't illegal. Ill-advised, maybe? Illegal? No.

The iPhone gets update every summer. So why even bother at this point? They'll release it sometime in the Spring and then come summer they'll introduce the iPhone 5.

It appears scaling the production process from a few hundred "proof of concept" units to a few hundred thousand a month has been significantly harder than Apple and their suppliers expected.

But if they did release a product with any defect, past experience knows that the userbase complaining about the delays would be complaining twice as loud about the defect. :)

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

For all these people whining about a color...
Wow.

Wow. I'm really disappointed with Apple.
I'm going to get an Android now, I'm sick of waiting for a product that's never going to exist.

So let's say that the Iphone5 will be available in black and white. If they can't figure out the white glass now, it means the iphone5 will not be made of glass then?

For all those people saying "who cares" well Apples does, or rather did.

Make no mistake this is an embarrassment for them. And an annoyance for those of us who were patient despite the ever-shifting goalposts on this one.

I almost feel like not getting a 4 just out of spite. In fact, hopefully my white 3G will continue doing everything I ask of it and I won't need to buy a 4 yet.

Don't understand how they can launch it, release a limited number to their media cronies (e.g. tech editors of NYT, Stephen Fry etc.) and then shrug and go "errrr....we're having problems making it". Stinks.
