Where is the WHITE iPhone?!?!?!??!?!

It's total ******** that Apple doesn't tell people when the white iPhone will be available. Why do they have to make everything clouded in secrecy?? I have news for you Apple, you're not the CIA, and you're certainly not doing yourself any favors by keeping your customers in the dark.

Dang it! I want the white phone! I'd probably be more upset, but I'm still reeling from that disallowed goal in the USA game.

I cant seem to login to my account on the Apple Store Online. Anyone else getting the "internal server error has occurred" thingy?

I plan on taking half the day off on Thursday.

Taking half a day off just to receive shipment for a cell phone?
I don't mean to single you out, but people need to chill here. IT'S JUST A PHONE. Are your people's lives going to end if you can't get it in your hands the 24th?

I pre-ordered just after 1AM on launch day at the online apple store for in store pickup on the 24th.

I got a confirmation email about 15 min later but no order shows up at all when I check order status on the apple store now.

I wonder if there will be a problem....

still good for me. They would have had NO reason to cancel mine.

End of contract. Paid online via apple for delivery on the 24th.

would be VERY pissed had it been canceled.

Same situation here. I think Apple/AT&T are canceling people that may have fallen under the new subsidized pricing offer. Those out of contract or normally eligible for upgrades are safe and those who got in by the new AT&T upgrade terms are being canceled to assure people out of contract (and those close) get phones first. Just a theory.

Those who have canceled orders...Were you eligible for the upgrade price only because of the new "generous" terms AT&T decided to offer or are you good for an upgrade according to their standard terms?

Manufacturing Delay?!

A Best buy representative said it was a manufacturing delay, but I'm still waiting for Apple to release an official statement. Do we just assume it's a manufacturing delay, because Apple would have said something by now.

****ing pissed is more like it.

Yup very pissed! I sold my iPhone 3GS ready to buy the new white iPhone 4 only to wake up 8am on the 15th ready to pre order to be told they arent available.

No explanation whatsoever from Apple as to why they are not available. They could have at least given an estimation on the release date.

Apple needs to be more transparent in certain areas. Steve obviously knew they wouldnt be available at launch and should of said something on stage.

I wish AT&T (We don't have Verizon or T-Mobile here) offered decent Android phones, i'd be done with iPhones at this point. To not give ANY explanation for the white iPhones not being available is a joke. Especially considering they gave no hint that they may not be available when the iPhone 4 was released. And almost a week later, we still hear NOTHING from Apple on the white iPhone 4.

You would give up the iPhone for android because the most anticipated phone in the world ever at this point because it had a shipping delay? Where they do that at?

Nearly everyone I've talked to has had their pre-order cancelled, be it an AT&T or an Apple one. I wonder if they oversold the initial stock and are now having to backtrack?

This, combined with the white iPhone's unannounced delay, and the botched Best Buy/Radioshack pre-orders, is making for one interesting launch, that's for sure.

But why cancel them. They would just move the shipping date. Sounds like something else is wrong...

Once I had the whole situation sorted out turns out I was orginally given bad info from Apple, called At&T and they too gave me the wrong info. Turns out I should have never cancelled the duplicate order and Apple's would have cancelled automatically and AT&T order would have been fine.

Yeah, reading other posts it seems that this is the scenario that is killing some orders. People tried to order from both AT&T and Apple, and some may not have known that their AT&T order did go through and then block Apple.com from selling a phone at upgrade price (authorization process).

Anyone else who had their order cancelled, also attempt to order from a third party? (Even if it didn't seem that your order went through?)

So does this kind of stuff hurt or help Apple/AT&T? If AT&T had waited a month or two before giving customers upgrade eligibility would it have been more profitable since they could potentially snag new customers and then get their current customers who weren't eligible for upgrades to reup in a month or so?

I personally don't know if giving current customers earlier upgrade eligibility will hurt or help AT&T in the long run. As a Verizon customer who has been waiting 3 years for the iPhone I was going to get 3 iPhones on a family plan but since white isn't available (which my wife wants) and since pre-ordering was a zoo anyway I'll be waiting on the sidelines a couple of months to see what happens.

I'm all for switching to AT&T as the service on my iPad has been great but if Verizon picks it up in the next few months while I'm waiting for AT&T to get white ones - or any at all - in stock then I might just stick with Verizon. If white had been available or if pre-ordering hadn't been an issue this past Tuesday Apple would have had a new customer that would have stayed with them for 2 years.

I'm not saying what AT&T did was wrong but I'm wondering if they potentially lost some new customers since there wasn't enough supply to cover all the new customers and all the customers they upgraded eligibility for.

Can't say that I feel sorry for the early adopters. So many people with the "Gotta have first, Gotta have it first" mentality usually end up screwed somehow. Nothing wrong with waiting, no real need for anyone to have it on the day of release.

You can't defamed Apple on this. People ordered these iPhone to get them release day. If Apple cannot give them the phones when the said they should not have put them up for sale.

Actually I can defend them pretty well.

#1 - White iPhones were explicitly said not to be available on launch day at Apple's own site. Any store which took pre-orders for the white iPhone were the one at fault - not Apple.

#2 - Every order that is cancelled seems to be because their AT&T authorization wasn't up to snuff. Sounds like either an AT&T issue or a user issue trying to get around their AT&T limitations.

AT&T is always the albatross around iPhone's neck.

From Apple's web site.

Not yet shipped - We've received your order and are processing it. If you need to cancel or change items in your order, read the Cancel Items or Order or the Modify Items sections of online Help below.

Prepared for Shipment - Your items have already been prepared for shipment and cannot be changed online or by our customer service department. We’ll send you an email when your item(s) have shipped.

Shipped - We've shipped your order using the shipping method you selected. You can track your shipment from online Order Status.

Sounds like if you are at Prepared for Shipment or Shipped, your order cannot be canceled. Hope this helps.

Wow, it's just one thing after another with this launch. Apple's customer service reps must be stressed out.

May switch to Verizon

I bought an iPhone 3GS in June last year. In August my iPhone was stolen, I used "Find my iPhone" to locate and wipe the data. I phoned AT&T and was informed that I could purchase a new iPhone for $399 as the customer service rep noticed I have over 10,000 roll over minutes as coverage in the SoCal area is so bad no one can talk on their phones 75% of the time, everyone texts. I asked if this would effect my eligibility for a new iPhone come June 2010. I was informed that it would not as my contract would not be renewed, that this is a one time offer as I've been a Cingular/AT&T customer since 2006.

Now comes the fun part. I attempted to pre-order an iPhone 4, and was informed that I am not eligible until March 2011! I phoned AT&T three times regarding the matter, to which they stated my contract was renewed as the $399 price was an "early upgrade" (I thought $199 was the price, but $399 is an UPGRADE?!). I informed the AT&T rep that both the customer rep on the phone and in the store in which I purchased the iPhone reassured me that my contract would not be renewed as a one time courtesy. AT&T's response: "Sorry, can't help you". I spoke with the "higher up" management who put in an "urgent" case, but stated I would most likely be denied. It seems I was mislead in order to keep me as a customer as I stated I was considering switching to Verizon in August. I can't even buy an iPhone 4 at full price! Had I been fully informed in August I would have paid $600 for a replacement.

Interestingly, I was able to reserve a 16 GB iPhone 4 through the new Apple Store application for $199. It verified my account, which left me perplexed. I phoned Apple today and spoke with a rep who informed me that many customers who are NOT eligible for an upgrade were erroneously allowed due to server overloads. Regardless, I have the $199 price reserved and if Apple states there was a mistake, they HAVE to honor the price commitment (used to work at Apple as a Genius). So if any one else is in this situation, Apple's policy states that the $199 price must be honored if the customer was erroneously allowed to pre-order/reserve their iPhones.

If this doesn't turn out well, I will take my family to Verizon. The only reason I'm with AT&T is because of the iPhone, but the reality is, what good is a phone IF YOU CAN'T MAKE CALLS?

Yes, myself and many others absolutely need to have this on release day. But I cant because I wanted the white iPhone! Stupid bastards.

If the man wants to take his vacation time to wait at home for a phone, then what's the problem? He earned that vacation time.
