White iPhone 4 Manufacturing Delay, Some Apple Pre-Orders Being Canceled

Non Essential? Apple products are the most important thing in my (and most others heres) life. I'm devastated, I'm going to be stuck with my 3GS for a few more weeks. I don't know how I can carry on. Oh My God, I've been relegated to having to skate where the puck is!!

It's going to be hard to get through these next few weeks but I know I'll have the support of all of you here to help me through the tough times. We can maybe form a support group. Do you think we all ought to write Steve letters and let him know we don't blame this on him and that we all still love him?

Think Positive. Soon enough we'll all be holding our elegant and delicious looking iPhone 4 and will be once again skating to where the puck is going to be!!!
 
I was once a diehard Apple fan but because of Apple's movement towards becoming mainstream they have lost their niche IMO... Mr. Steve-O can KMA and keep his iPhone's..

So.. I guess I'll be in line at 4AM on Thursday... hopefully for a WHITE iPhone!
 
just another reason why we have to check the damn order status over and over again between now and the 24th.

don't get too excited. there's still lots of time between now and the 24th for them to cancel our orders.

LOL about your service in LA. I had a similar experience and returned the iphone before the 30 day grace period was up. AT&T service really is the pits.

Funny story. A friend of mine worked for Cingular right before AT&T took over. Cingular was leasing about half their towers to T-Mobile as they were almost bankrupt. Just before AT&T's deal for buying Cingular went through, Cingular renewed those leases, seriously screwing AT&T. In Los Angeles it's worsened by the fact that area's such as Beverly Hills reject more towers being implemented (just as they refuse to allow the subway system to go through to Santa Monica).

As it stands, I can cancel my contract with AT&T for $130 (and apparently every month it's lessened by $5), sign up with Verizon for an HTC or Blackberry Curve for LESS than an iPhone 4 at the $199 price. Of course I'd have to cancel MobileMe and use Google for syncing my calendar, contacts and mail. However, I'd have an actual usable phone! :D
 
What manufacturing defect can only affect a white iPhone and not a black one?

Or is the defect just hidden on the black??

Those of us paying up for new black iPhones want to know!?!

Yes, I think folks were reading the two different stories - one about white iPhone issues and one about Apple canceling black iPhone orders - and conflating the two. Like the post above who asks "are you surprised?" in response to someone noting that their iPhone order was cancelled.

i dont know if there is anyway to know, i checked my apple account but nothing was ever displayed, i dont think they display reservations, but i did get an email when i reserved it
 
Just as a data point, AT&T sent me my new Customer Service Summary yesterday and my order is still good. Did anyone else get an updated CSS?
 
I reserved mine for in-store pickup but never received an email confirmation. So I called the store and sure enough they have no record of my reservation. Guess I will not be getting the new iPhone on launch day after all.

Well i've been constantly checking if mine was still reserved through the apple store app...it shows all reservations you made on your selected store. I'm just worried that it's gonna eventually just disappear because apple decided to cancel my damn order.

Apple must honor that commitment, if they don't in the store then speak with management. "Glitch" or not, it was approved and verified. Any one who is in this situation needs to speak with Apple in person during the day of pickup for reservations and/or speak with an Apple rep over the phone. Otherwise they will simply get away with screwing people over.
 
does this affect the number of phones at apple stores? I pre-ordered mine and have mine on reserve at my closest apple store, am I still good?

I made a reservation at the store, too, and can see the confirmation in the Apple Store app.
 
Hmmm. I got an e-mail confirming in-store pickup from Apple for my Black 32GB, but show no 'order' on Apple.com. Would I normally see an order there?

People need to understand people's devotion to this product. It's practically my third arm and I was anticipating this product for about 3 or 4 months. If your's was cancelled that's another story and I'm sorry. But people are really looking forward to this product so JUST SHUT THE **** UP.

Edit: Oh and it's just NOT a cell phone.
