And maybe use iFaith to dump the SHSHs that might still be on board.

SHSHs probably won't be very useful without the actual beta firmware that was installed, but it'd still be a good idea to back them up if possible IMO.

Unfortunately at the moment there is nothing new with this... I ordered the part for repairing the Battery Connector and sent it to EvilRoot (he will be fixing it for me) and he has my prototype motherboard. So once he receives the battery connector he will be doing the repair and shipping the board back to me to put back in the phone. Then we will see what we can do about software. I have not disappeared

Apparently Carl Frega(evilroot) was going to be doing the repair for me today or tomorrow, so I will speak to him about the status of the motherboard and report back. I'm excited to see what will happen once it's fixed, and I'm pretty sure I'll want to sell it... so let's see what happens.

Hey Mars, this is very cool. I have only skimmed the thread, so sorry if this question has been answered- Does the phone have any other obvious logic board problems other than the damaged battery connector? Have you noticed any signs of water damage as the eBay listing mentioned?

Best of luck getting this repaired. You could easily resell it for over $2000+ without any repairs, just all the pictures you have taken. This is a great piece of Apple history.

I wonder if it will support any version of iOS 4 past the betas? If one piece of hardware in it is different from the finished iPhone 4 you would be extremely out of luck getting the device to accept any IPSW's.

Hey Alex! Didn't know you frequented MR! it has a bit of damage to a mount point, and some of the EMI shields are dented but not much from that. And,no the water damage claim is completely false in the listing, all water sensors are white and present (In different locations because the motherboard has a bit of a different design.)
I would like to sell it, and hope I get a little more with the repairs I am doing.

Tried many IOS4 versions and it didn't like any of them, I need to try a beta...

No... and this is probably my fatal mistake. We talked for a while, and knowing that he had previous experience with a prototype device by Apple, I asked if he knew anything about fixing this issue I had with it. He said yes and I shipped it to him..

I'm getting desperate... I have no clue what to do. I have a carcass of a prototype iPhone 4 without a motherboard, and the guy I sent it to won't answer me. He's had it for most likely over a month now.

I don't know anyone who lives near him, but I have thought of taking a weekend and paying a visit to his house and getting my motherboard... I REALLY need this back.

Can anyone help me out in contacting Carl Frega? I feel really stupid for sending it to him now...

I agree.. Showing up in the middle of the night and accidentally slashing Mr. Frega's tires is a much better solution. If he was in Jersey, they would give him a pair of cement shoes too..
