The only problem is that many people aren't getting confirmation emails after they order. I've heard that some of these people have called hp who told them not to worry. I really hope hp doesn't switch on us.

HP's site says wait at least 24 hours after you order, so I'm not too worried yet. I didn't get any verification email or anything from them after signing up for their academic program though, which I find strange. So after signing up and making an order, I have a total of 0 emails from HP.

I ordered one through HP but will try to get 2 more tomorrow through Best Buy. One for my mom who wants an iPad but all she's really going to do is Skype, Web and Email so the TouchPad is more practical (and saves me $500). And one for my brother who needs Flash to do some stuff.

The last is for me because Im sick of my daughter messing with my iPad and deleting apps. (I really wish Apple would put a "kids mode".

got a 32 from HP for 135. Hoping for Android Honeycomb port in the next 21 days. If not, it's going back.

Amazing what a firesale can do to a tablet no one wanted. Now HP Touchpads will have sold out in less than 24 hours.
Well HP did say they want to be the number two Tablet seller.... And due to Android fragmentation then the chances of anyone selling 500K of the same unit is pretty slim.

Heres what I don't get. HP is said to be eating $100M on getting rid of these units, so wouldn't it have been smarter to liquidate BEFORE announcing their lack of support for WebOS and subsequently devaluing the product? WebOS isn't nearly as bad as some think so getting it into a million hands at $100 would bring the product to the mass market while increasing its value if they want to sell it.

Maybe in the next release of IOS Apple will add a 'Restrictions' section to Settings, where you can control the installation and deletion of apps...

A.

Why don't you just create a profile with the iPhone (iOS) configuration utility (here), enable the profile when your daughter uses it, makes disabling/enabling restrictions easy.

I didn't get any verification emails either, however, my credit card has been charged by HP. If they charged me, they better deliver it Tuesday.

Folks: skip Best Buy USA, as they pulled all Touchpad inventory from the shelves this evening...you can't buy a Touchpad from them at any price anymore.

I'm in for a 32GB @ Office Depot.

Anybody in America or Canada want to send me one??

I'll hook you up on paypal or whatever!

Or anybody know if this offer is available in the UK?

I bought a 32GB one.
Hopefully I'll get mine and my money won't be refunded because shortly after I ordered mine the site was sold out!!!!!!!!!!
I have a iPad 2 and LOVE IT!
But for the price I paid $158.99 you couldn't pass that deal up.
I'm also curious to see how well webOS or aka HP webOS performs.

I got a 16gb one finally. Waiting up forever for OfficeDepot to update their site and finally ordered. Even though I would rather have an iPad, I couldn't pass it up at that price.

Ugh, I got all the way through step 3 in the Office Depot order page when the price changed.

Oh well.

Edit: I am typing this edit on my new Touchpad. As much as I despise HP products, for $150 for a 32GB tablet I can bum around campus with, I'll take it. Bought the last one at Walmart in Tampa Florida.

I am definitely getting one for 149 USD.

I do not know what people have with android? It's a lag feast at its finest, even on a dual core. It's that ridiculous.

If you check on your ipad under settings > general > restrictions you can turn off the delete app function among other useful things.

How pissed are the people that paid $499 for this thing on launch day? I'm sure theres got to be be a few people that actually did that, and now you can buy it for $400 off.

Got the 32G for $149 at Staples. And I have already stopped using my iPad. The way Touchpad handles multitasking is miles ahead of iOS. WebOS is very intuitive; it's a shame it couldn't get traction.

Proud owner of an iPad 2 here to confess that I dropped $100 (technically $90) for a TouchPad. Why not? I'm a gadget geek so it should be fun to play around with a non iPad tablet for once. I played with a Galaxy Tab at BestBuy and was confused as hell as how to even get to the internet browser. WebOS seems a lot more simple so I'm excited to test it out!

We should all boycott the iPad 3 and get Apple to put the iPad 3 on sale for $100 :p

you say you're a gadget geek yet you had trouble finding the internet browser on the galaxy tab?!

come on now! that can't possibly be right!

you're not a gadget geek lol.

not
even
close.

How'd you get it for that price at Staples? All the stores in my area have it at the original price, and online shows that also.

Got 2 for my daughters for $99 a piece.
