Got a 32gb off HP's site for $140 shipped. Going to head to best buy in the morning to see if I can pick up anymore 16gb and return the nook color I just bought.

Yeah nook color blows. Touch interface is terrible and barely any other apps/other functionality (you have to pay just to even access exchange accounts for mail and can't sync contacts). Screen is nice and bright though at least ... although it flickers a lot.

I couldn't get one but I want one.

friend got one for $99 and honestly it is very very nice. hardware on my ipad 2 is better but jesus christ it's not $400 better. webos is super smooth.

feeling a lot of dissonance in the marketing sense and my ipad 2 is feeling like an over priced over restricted piece of machinery :(

Lol, geek supremacist?

I'm not a geek supremacist but I find it hard to believe that you had a hard time finding the browser on an android tablet.

I know this is macrumors and we love to talk about how apple is so great (nothing wrong with that :p) and how android is such a terrible OS but it's not even close to difficult to find the browser on android.
1. you are a liar
2. you know very very very little about tech. you're like one of those old, live under a rock type, who knows absolutely nothing about how to work a computer.

you're posting on this forum so I'm gonna say you're a liar lol. don't be offended, being a liar is better than being an idiot. :D

So you're saying that the iPad isn't worth $500, not that the TouchPad is worth more than $100? I'm sure the flaws of the TouchPad will slowly expose themselves to those who spend time with it. I'm looking forward to the TouchPad for it's built in apps (music, internet, maybe kindle) but that's it and that's why it seemed like a solid $100 investment. The iPad can be used for all of the above as well as any uses that the growing library of apps offer and that's why it seemed like a solid $500 investment.

Well, like many, I've been using my Touchpad quite a lot over the past two to three hours. Is it worth more than the $150 I paid (32GB)? Yes. Is it worth the $500 it was originally? No. For that price, I'd rather have an iPad, but the Touchpad is a very nice tablet. It has a very nice UI that is pretty intuitive and looks nice. WebOS kind of feels like a cross between iOS and the new Ubuntu interface (which I run on my netbook). It's a capable tablet, though it does lag in some areas. Overall, though, I'm thinking my netbook is going to be phased out almost entirely. For the fire sale prices, it's an absolute steal. I feel lucky I was able to get one.

I wonder how many honest iPad owners will fess up and admit they're a tiny bit jealousy some (not all) of the cool ways WebOS works. Obviously not to the ENTIRE platform, but if you use WebOS with an open mind then there are a lot of appealing features that I really wish were on iOS.

Multitasking Its the real deal
Cards This alone makes iOS feel "Old". It feels like Expose on a mobile device and works perfect
Notifications iOS5 improves it but its still not as good
Compiled Messaging - Multiple services/usernames all compiled in native messaging app
Restore As a Palm user I already had a Palm Profile so it synced settings for me. iOS5 brings this for us soon
Sync w/other Palm products. This one shocked me. I STILL use an old palm pre and there was an option to connect via bluetooth and this allowed me to text, receive calls and check VM on the TouchPad! This is the kind of stuff Apple is being lazy on. They're 4gen into iPhone and 2gen into iPad so why is it that we don't have more connectivity and features that benefits users who use BOTH products?

People criticize WebOS for not having enough apps, but all the basics it comes with (email, web, messaging, Skype) are done right and some key apps like Facebook and Twitter are available so its not like you're crippled. The hardware itself on this is actually not as bad as i thought and from what I understand its fairly powerful. The thing missing (which would've changed everything) is that HP didn't take the time to optimize it so its not as fast as it COULD be. So lets see if HP stays true and actually gives us another update.

I snagged two last night at HP's Web site, a 16 and 32. I wish HP would sell WebOS to Apple. It would be nice to have the card UI instead of the current iOS app switcher.

I know how that goes. I was at WalMart this morning and they had a few, but I came to my senses before buying.

It's a great price but I would imagine it won't get a lot of use in our house after the first week or so.

We have hundreds of dollars of iPad apps that would feel left out if we got a TouchPad.

Engadget has this posted:

So I would call the retailer first, then HP if the retailer doesn't want to refund the difference.

I guess I will have to try again. I sat on hold with HP for a little while after I got back from ABC Warehouse, trying to see if they were going to issue a press release or something making the $99 price official so I could show it to ABC and get them to refund me some $, but they didn't know and they certainly didn't offer to refund me the difference themselves.

Hot dam. Could I get one? Sure. Do I need it? Probably not. Oh what the heck I check it out. It will probably be out of stock in some local stores by the time I actually look. Only problem I have is I don't like having some electronic device like this that is no longer supported. Is that going to be the case or are there going to be awesome geek modifications/support?

Recently some bestbuy employee tried (and almost succeeded) in convincing my stepmother to get a overpriced (imo) tablet instead of a netbook/small laptop.

Picked up a 32GB Touchpad at Office Depot.

Great for parents with young kids. I can u it as entertainment device in car so kids can watch movies I ripped with handbrake.

Watch and surf net while at home

Was going to pick up DVD player for car at around $80 but touchpad deal much better.
Thats my intentions. But once again, DRM makes things more difficult. I was "foolish" enough to PURCHASE movies through iTunes. Its always annoying that I have to resort to "other methods" in order to get content I paid for on non Apple products.

But I'm planning on dumping days worth of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Disney stuff for my daughter to use in the car. We used to use my iPad but she gets it all gunky and keeps deleting apps so this will be easier. Plus, its got much better audio than the iPad.

i went all around town today and they are sold out.. :( i thought it started today? haha. was about to get one at one of my sams but a guy came in just before and bought all of them

Bummer. I hate that. The limit should be two per person. I wasn't able to get one either, so I feel your pain. People can be so greedy. :(

Picked up a 16gb at BJ's because Im not sure if my HP order will go through. They had a lot left but are selling them for $399 and Ill get the difference refunded somehow.

got 3 32gb ones 10 pm pst time last night... sold one already.. for 250. trying to make sure this paperweight ends up being free wohoooo

I tried to buy a 16GB on HP's site last night, but it was OOS by the time I finished entering my info. Living in the boondocks, there isn't a place within an hour of me that has one it seems. I was hoping to get one for my mom who doesn't need tons of apps, but some email/web/facebook/skype would do her nicely.

Ah well...maybe the bottom will fall out on all these attempted dealmongers who snatched them up by the boatload and I can get one when they're dumped on the market again.

getting an out of memory error. weird.

It's been doing that all day. Very few have gotten all the way through to a completed order there. Look at the SlickDeals thread to see how hard it is to order that way. Looks like at least one user was told that they actually have no units available and will restock Monday.

Got my 32GB at Office Depot this morning. They opened at 9; I was there at 7.30 to be sure I'd get one. (Sure enough, I was first in line; the other 8 people waiting got there between 8.30 and 9.) They only had five of them (2x32, 3x16), and limited one per person. I'd ordered one last night for in-store pickup hoping to reserve one, but showed up early just in case; it's a good thing I did, given that they ignored the pickup order.

So far so good; the multitasking and notification systems blow iOS out of the water. Given that I'm not an app-heavy user, this does it all nicely for me. Even evaluated just as a "color Kindle" for less than/slightly more than a standard Kindle, it's a fabulous deal--all in all, it's a total steal. :D

ah thanks for the heads up. went over to the SD thread and say 300+ pages and said nahhhhh. haha.

i did check 20 stores today. all out. should have hit the walmart last night. bummer.

If anyone is wondering if their orders placed last night would go through they will it just takes awhile. HP charged my card and changed my order status to processing from verifying.
