A friend of mine tried to pre-order on the Apple website today. She got the message about being unable to complete set up online, so she called the 1-800 number to try it that way. They weren't able to complete the order, either, and told her she'd have to go to the store on the 24th to finish it there. They also told her that since she had already started the order, she would have a phone reserved for her. Do you think she got bad information? If that were true, I would be a little annoyed, as I ordered last night (as soon as I was able to get through), and I'm one of the July 2 people. If what they told her was true, wouldn't there be a lot of phones reserved for people who won't pick them up? (For example, I tried using my brother's number, and I got the message. I have no intention of picking up a phone for him, I just wanted to see what would happen. Although, if what they told her is true, I would cancel my order, go pick his up, and do an upgrade swap.)
I guess basically I'm just asking if this is too good to be true. I'd hate for her to go to the Apple store (30 minutes away) early, and be late for work for nothing.
