Here is screenshot from their regular website of the same strap. Something strange is going on.
[doublepost=1460404097][/doublepost]I also just checked the mobile site and saw the same price that I saw on my computer.

So I just refreshed the page again and it did pop up at $690, but it looks like it the new colors. The deer brown and black are still $340. They may just be pricing the new colors a little higher.

I think the $690 for the single tour must be an error. That's the price they have for the cuff band.

I meant the price difference vs. purchasing a normal SS AW plus the Hermes band.

Don't forget you're giving up a free extra band to instead buy the Hermes edition for the watch faces (and let's not forget there's 3 of them I think -- quite a value).

My guess is he's talking about the out-of-the-box band that comes with the standard SS AW. If you get that plus the Hermes band, you'll have a total of two bands. But it isn't actually "free" as that's factored into the price of the SS AW.

And there's no reason one can't just pick up a sport band for $49 if you buy the Hermes edition watch.

Exactly, but you only get one band if you buy the Hermes. So in reality that watch face will cost you $261 (38mm single tour), if you were to buy a $50 sport band which you lose by not buying the Hermes band and watch separately.

That's a lot for a digital watch face. But that's one way Apple can control the proliferation of watch faces, while also offering a watch face store. Not sure it will go over much better than not offering the option at all though.

But then the Hermes watch ends up costing you $1149, instead of $889 for all three.

I'm still wondering if the band prices on Hermès website are correct. You can't order one from their site yet and the prices have gone back and forth over the last week. I guess we'll find out for sure when they show up on Apple's website to purchase.

They have settled at $340 for the Single Tour, $490 for the Double Tour, and $690 for the Cuff, so those are probably the right prices. If you think about it, that's consistent with the price differential between models. E.g. there is no difference between buying the Hermes 42mm Single Tour for $1150 and buying the Cuff band for $690, vs. buying the Cuff for $1500 and getting the Single Tour band for $340. Similarly, the $150 price differential for the Double Tour vs. Single Tour matches the initial price difference between the two 38mm models.

I doubt many Hermès buyers care about the sport band. I have yet to change my band once since October 5 (I alternated between the Classic, Link, and Milanese before then). I might pick up a Sapphire Blue Hermès band for $340, though. I still can't believe Apple and Hermès aren't charging at least another $150 for these bands. I guess Hermès figures it will make it up on volume.

For those questioning sales, expanding the product line to me confirms that sales are at least as good and probably better than what Hermès was expecting. Had they just dumped the existing watch onto the online channel and/or lowered the price I'd have said they were dumping supply. But they are introducing new colors and making it easier to buy multiple bands. Hermès has plenty of prestige but is also seen as an "older" person's brand. This has introduced them to a younger audience that they want to tap. As that audience gets older, they may be attracted to Hermès scarves and handbags. For Apple, it probably helps them stay relevant with women. Men buy the vast majority of smart watches, Apple Watch included, but women are a large under-tapped market.

Apple finally shipped my 42mm Single Tour watch after I ordered it over two weeks ago. What's interesting is the Serial Number for the watch says that it was manufactured in October which was when the Hermès edition came out. If that's true then I wonder why it's taking so long to ship the watch, unless they are running behind on bands.

The Watch is mass-produced. The bands are hand-sewn.

I get that, but it's still engraved and has special software. I guess they just have the physical watch part made and then get the bands in at a later time.

Just enjoy your watch...i am jealous!! Congrats!

I'm ready too, but sadly it doesn't deliver until tomorrow. I've been stalking UPS's website to see where it's at. I sold my old SS a couple of weeks ago and have been going through withdrawals. Tomorrow is going to be a good day and hopefully UPS delivers early.

BTW, what color did you get?
