How has everyone's bands held up? The second loop on my band has ripped off and the rest is pretty frayed. Looks like it's time to fork over $340 for a new band. I got my watch on October 5th and I wear it daily.

Are you serious? It really only held up that long? I thought it would have been much long especially for the price. Will Hermès not fix it for you?

Also good luck getting the band. You have to hit it just right when they have them in stock. I got mine a couple of weeks ago, but it took a lot of checking back over and over.

Don't worry, my cuff is ruined as well.

EDIT: Apple support is completely terrible as I reiterate in regards to these bands. I can't believe 6 months of usage results to this.

Mine has held up (October 5 buyer, too). It has gotten darker (as I expected) but I think i could easily get another 1-2 years out of it. From experience even the best leather straps tend to last only about 2-3 years before something wears out.

Pictures? Uncoated leather bands have a limited shelf life (more so than synthetically coated real leather out there) so they'd be helpful to see if they're excessive wear or normal wear in line with uncoated leather.

My question is won't Hermès take care of you with any issues? The straps should not be breaking down this soon. I got mine about 2 weeks ago and love it, but I hope it holds up.

We do not know what these members meant by "breaking down." They could be normal wear for uncoated leather and they're just used to coated leather like the Leather Loop and Classic Buckle not being susceptible to the elements and lasting a long time. Hence my asking for pics.

Oh ok I got you. I still think Hermès would take care of the customer. I have heard their customer service is great.

Hard to make a judgement without knowing if the OP is subjecting the band to normal "wear and tear", or wearing it while operating machinery, carrying rocks or whatever. It's very subjective.

Are you a chronic wrist rester at the computer? I.e., you don't keep your wrists straight while typing and so you're inducing excessive wear at the buckle?

This would be no different from link bracelet owners who scratch the bottom of it to hell from chronically resting their wrists below the keyboard.

I bet it's from chronically resting the wrists below the keyboard. Many people don't practice proper typing techniques, which require you to keep your wrists straight.
I for sure do this. I have the link band and I have scratched the hell out of the bottom of my band. I guess I should expect some wear in the bottom of my Hermès too.

Or you can take this opportunity to start practice proper typing techniques. Start getting into the habit of keeping your wrists straight and you'll benefit from less wear on the bands AND less strain on the wrists. Your forearms can still touch the edge of the desk, but the important part is to hover your wrists below the keyboard.

Will try for sure.

I'm old enough to actually have had typing classes in high school. We now have a generation of chronic wrist resters thanks to schools eliminating them. Band manufacturers must be happy about this :D
You can't be that old lol. I had typing classes as well and I just turned 30.

Got an Hermes band for my 42 SS and intend to get my wife an Hermes AW2 (assuming there is one...) this Fall. I switch bands frequently and wouldn't wear my Hermes band while sitting at my desk in any case.

Understood. My point is more that I swap bands based on place and time. Sitting at a computer typing is not a time/place I wear my nicest and most expensive band, that's all.

I agree that if I ever get a Hermes band, I'd probably keep it for special occasions. But ever since I got my 12.9 iPad Pro, I just don't spend much time typing on a physical keyboard any more, so no worries about wearing out my band by rubbing it against the keyboard! :D
