Maybe where you live. A friend went to the local corporate store here and got in line this morning 2 hours before opening. No sign about inventory. 9 people already in line. About 15 employees showed up 1 hour before opening. 25 minutes before opening they handed out refreshments, wouldn't talk about whats available. At opening they then took people in one at a time and only then did you find out there were NO 7 pluses. Why not put up a big sign saying "NO 7 PLUS"? Because the employees want to get you in the door and get you to order through them.

and probably because they're hoping they'll settle for a 7

Just an update from me. My store(Verizon in MN) opened at 8am (little over 3 hours ago) and surprise surprise, no Plus Models whatsoever. 12 hours spent in line for nothing. Well, not quite nothing, as I had my mom meet me there when they opened and she ended up getting a matte black 128GB 7. I also pre-ordered a 7+ 128Gb jet black. After looking at her matte in person though, I am strongly considering switching my order to a matte 7+ 128GB, as ill get it a month sooner and it will hold up better over time, all while still looking amazing. Not sure yet though.

It seems clear Verizon folks were really told to get people into the store no matter what. They want those numbers. They want to get preorders in. When I asked if there was any priority given to people who waited all morning and then preordered, as opposed to just trying my luck in a few days as a walk-in customer, I was told "we aren't getting any iPhone +'s until November." That's crazy. THEN 2 min later I hear the same guy tell a woman "You're going to want to just preorder today because we won't be getting any delivered to the store until DECEMBER." He just added a month like that. For guys that a half-hour earlier told us "we do't know anything about what we got, you're going to have to wait until you get inside" they sure all the sudden know a ton. Jeeesh. Did they recruit these guys out of a used car lot?

Pretty sure, unfortunately, that's a problem just about everywhere. They just want to get people in the door to see if they can convince them to buy whatever it is they do have.

For sure. Even though they didn't have any pluses and I was just pre-ordering in store, they were trying to sell me some car kit that can be an error code scanner, roadside assistance, and other stuff for $30 + $10/month.

In addition, when the first manager came outside to greet the line, he didn't wouldn't say anything about what they had, saying we will have to wait until we get inside to find out. But he went on for 2 minutes about promotions they have and specials on beats and other accessories...Like dude I just waited 12 hours in hope of getting a phone, isn't it enough that I want to buy it through you guys and lock myself in for another two years?

Exactly! They didn't tell us till the last second, till right before they let us in. And boy was the rep pushing everything, don't you want to buy a watch too? or get a tablet? or get cases they're on sale? (which wasn't even true mind you).

I'm still going to call around in a bit now and see if theres anything out there

I walked in to an AT&T store at 8:30 am. Got a matte black iPhone 7, 128 GB until I get my plus at the end of October. They said there was no line and I was one of the first people in.

Wow. Almost every Verizon store near me has every 7 color and size in stock. Way to easy to upgrade the wife's phone
which stores? I'm thinking of hitting the store by Chandler Mall here in a little bit. I'm sure it's going to be chaotic, though.

I've been calling stores hoping to hear someone say they got a second shipment or something, but they're all basically laughing at me.

Just my luck. I was told by Best Buy around 8AM that they had no pluses. I had been at the mall since 5AM waiting on AT&T. No pluses there.

At 11:30, Best Buy got a surprise shipment with a 7+ matte black 128GB. Gone before I got there.

Tempe Marketplace. Chandler said they had plenty in stock as well but I didnt ask colors

I was in and out in less than 15 minutes
Nice, good to know. Have a preorder on a 7+ but I could always cancel if I just want the regular 7. Still debating..

Ok I see it was not just my VZW that was trying to sell customers anything with a price tag once they got in the door. Now the salesman who help me was cool as a fan, he was the one I have been in contact with since this weekend about the iPhone 7. I was even offered a iPad Air Mac PRO plus lol, but I understood b/c I am sure that they got briefed by their store manager to try to push those to us. Only thing else I brought besides a phone was AppleCare + and a screen protector. I feel for those of you who wanted a 7 plus and waited in line all night/morning to get one and were not even told prior to store opening that they did not have any in stock. Especially for the folks at my store who were handed the vouchers to fill out and they (the vouchers) mentioned nothing about being out of stock of the pluses. I am sure that at least one person in a line who wanted a plus, but most likely go a 7 since they did not want to feel they waited all that time to come up empty handed. I mean at least VZW could have put a sign on the door stating something along the line of "No iPhone 7 plus models will be available on 9/16/2016"
