It’s about the most common one in the roads. Not made anymore. Was replaced by the Renault 5.

Range went from 80 miles for the early model to around 200 for the later ones.

But as the furthest Mrs AFB would ever drive would be around 10 miles (round trip) it would be fine for her.

Cheapest I've seen them for are £1,000, but I'd probably be looking at around £4-5k.

cool, good luck with the purchase

yea, I get that, just the gamble with old(er) cars - when do you stop paying for repairs?
Agreed. But we have had no issues up to now on Mrs AFB Kia so it's done well for a 13 year old car. Of course buying a car (even an EV) from 2016 isn't risk free either. Always a dilemma trying to make the best decision.

Did have a testdrive in a Cupra Born the other day, its the same car as the ID3 but with another badge and a bit sportier.
Did like the car but the seats were hard as a churchbench. And why do they keep shoehorning on such big wheels that destroys the comfort and makes road noise an issue.
The updated infotainment was pleasant to use and car was great fun to drive.

Did have a testdrive in the Cupra Leon Hybrid (120km on a charge + petrol engine) and after driving a fully electric it kinda feelt a bit dated.

But as always, when I jump back into my V60 and drive away I always thing "is it worth all that extra money for a less comfortable car".

Will try and testdrive the new Renault 5 and Kia EV3 to see what they are like.

I think the Cupra Born is a much more attractive car than the ID3. I really wanted to like the ID3, but it never looked quite right to me.

Yes, I agree, small design changes do make the Cupra Born more attractive. The facelifted ID3 does look better than the original one. Not a major change but still. Most important, the buttons on the infotainment system are now backlit 🙃

The Cupra Born will getting a facelift fairly soon, will be interesting to see what it will look like.

Cupra has always had the theme of a gaming PC with that logo and the colour scheme IMO. Don't mind it, but prefer the ID3 a bit, but to be honest the ID Polo would be my pick.

The ID.Polo looks great and looking at the specs I'd say it will be attract a lot of new buyers.
Will be interesting to see CUpra Raval and Skoda Epic on the same platform look like and what specs they will have.

Interesting look on the cars that we can see in the video. The blacked out windows and confusing wraps on the other two cars seems odd. They bring their concept cars to a show and then don't show them?

That 0-60 is ... Civic range, wow. But the prices are really impressive. I like the seats. I think these are going to sell really well.

We LOVE our 2 Model 3s (why I got a second one) - and would get another no question if mine died.

That's a LOT to lose for $5k. It wouldn't be for me, but I agree, I think they will sell as it opens up another much larger set of customers.

I'm not a RWD customer, so without an AWD version, I wouldn't even consider a "Standard", only the "Premium" line up.

Same here... once you experience the LR AWD or Performance (my friend has a 2019 performance, which led us to buy our 2018 LR AWD used from Tesla in 2022) - it's hard to go back. For new buyers - maybe it'll lead to an explosion in more EV adoption.

Very very happy with our LR AWDs - best cars we've ever owned. Going to drive the wheels off of mine :D

not sure this will "ignite" sales, it is still more compared to when there was a 7.5k tax credit, incl destination and order fee it's over $41k, excluding tax/license fee and such. Had it been $34.9k. maybe ... only time will tell.

The federal tax credit and the insanely low APR (1.99%) were a big reason why I got a Tesla last year (that and my love for our 2018 Tesla Model 3 LR AWD).

Honda (where I looked first last year) and other manufacturers were wanting me to pay $800/mo+ and the interest rates were insane - despite me having 730+ credit.

yea, there were great deals to have last year, by almost all manufacturers. It'll be interesting to see how the next 3 months are going to go. I read on the Ioniq forum that Hyundai will reduce the price for the 2026 ionic 5 by 7.5k, though that model is not listed yet on their website so who knows?
EV sales were quite strong last quarter, they will be quite poor this quarter ...

I find the car too expensive for so many cuts, some really cheap (in all senses of the word).
For exemple that cheap frunk area is something around one or two euros (or dollars, whatever)
40k is still a lot of money.

Now more than ever, careful consideration when purchasing a new electric car is crucial. Long term ownership will help avoid great financial loss.

For example the Tesla Model S has lost approximately 65.2% of its value over five years. This is an excellent vehicle but not immune to depreciation.

Audi, BMW and other excellent electric cars have similar or greater depreciation. As usual it’s buyer beware.

It is still a little $$. But at least here in the US there are very little options that have a better frunk than that in its price range.

There still are a lot of included features (Sentry mode, …) and optional features (FSDs) that put it in competition with much higher priced vehicles.

A big part of the loss in value of EVs was the $7,500 credit. There is an immediate first buyer loss + $7,500.

We will see how it settles.

Perhaps it's my European POV and taste but there's a certain trim limit on so large (yes, I know that will be found funny) car that is unacceptable whatever other features.

People have been asking for cheaper, they were able to knock $5k USD off the price. For $5k more you can get all the trim that comes with the premium models.

This model isn’t for me, but there are plenty of people who would prefer the option of a cheaper TMY.

I will eventually get the new TMY Performance to replace my TM3.
