Who is ordering from VZW.com?

Getting it from Verizon's online store to keep my unlimited data. It'll be pricey, but I use a lot of data so it'll be more than worth it in the end. Hopefully they'll let us pre-order for the off-contract price.
in other threads it is looking like no, phone must be ordered through verizon. I was hoping the same but am going to order through verizon to not take any chances.

Exactly. I want to do in store pickup because I work the night shift that night and I really don't want it sitting by my front door until I get home. Not that I don't trust the neighbors but you know....

Hmm, I called up Verizon an hour or two ago and was told the opposite. Specifically asked if I had to order from VZW.com, or if ordering from the Apple website would work too. Was told that I couldn't order from the Apple site and take advantage of the promotion, the order had to be directly from Verizon.
But it's possible that they didn't know what they were talking about! Either way, I'm not taking the risk. Although I've had better luck pre-ordering through Apple in the past, I'll give Verizon a shot. I have faith.
Anyone preorder from them in the past? I'm not waking up in the middle of the night but plan on doing it around 6am. Does that mean I won't receive my phone until next year?
I just called Verizon to check on some other stuff and the rep said they are SHIPPING on the 19th so I wouldn't receive it till the 22nd or 23rd. I told him he must be mistaken. He assured me he wasn't. Anyone else confirm/dispel this?
