Coming from an 8+ to the 12 pro a game changer. Screen, speed, and size was a welcome change. Only question is do I want to change ATT plans to enable 5G? It’s all over my area, but is it worth the hassle, because the 5Ge is really fast.

I went from an 8+ to a 12 and one of the things that shocked me the most was that both phones are very close in terms of speed. Loading apps side by side I found the 8+ was a few tenths of a second slower which is impressive. I am impressed with the size though and the 8+ was often cumbersome and annoying to pocket.

I might return mine and even consider moving to Android. Feeling pretty let down with the 12-series crop.

  • 12 pro is pretty hefty, and feels top-heavy. Big step down from the 11 pro IMO.
  • 12 is good ergonomically, but I'm missing the camera features and RAM from the pro. Not sure it's much of an improvement over my 11 pro.
  • 12 mini - not out, but concerned over battery life
  • 12 max - too big
These are all just my opinions, but overall disappointed in battery life and some of the compromises made. 5G isn't a thing, smaller battery, worse ergonomics. Ehh.

I was in the same mindset, I’ve got the silver 12 pro now but the Galaxy S21 is due in January so might see what it brings.

Love mine. A couple of years ago I was tempted by the Note 9 so sold my XS Max and iPad Pro 12.9 and my watch. Eventually end up with the Note 10+ 5G and the Tab S6. While I liked them the 12 Pro enticed me back and just the quality, usability and design have been so good that the 12.9 Pro arrives next week. I never got rid of the Mac so I’m almost back where I started. Except I’m keeping the Garmin Fenix 6 pro as it is better than the AW.

I just started my return on the Apple store app they said I have until 11/18 to send it back or return it to a store. My question is if I return it to the store do I still have until 11/18 or does those extra 14 days only apply if I'm mailing it back?

My 12 Pro arrived today... but I'm going to return it for the regular 12 or the Mini. It's just too heavy and I think I prefer the aluminum sides over the stainless for feel the stainless once warm feels "tacky" which isn't as comfortable in hand, however the phone itself is excellent!

Question for you all. This may seem horrible but if I decide to return my 12 Pro in favor of the Max but get the max before I send the 12 Pro back and realize its too large. Can I cancel the pro return and just return the Max? Im really torn. Appreciate any help.

Last year I did exactly this with the 11 Pro... If you don't actually send the device back the return just vanishes and it just stays in your "orders" section of your Apple ID as a regular device, not a returned one. You'd just do the return for the Max as you would have done for the regular Pro.

Thank you so much. So its true you have 14 days to return it? I can't find solid info on this.

This was sent to me on 10/27

I returned a 12 back to AT&T because of multiple dead pixels. I was able to find the 12 Pro in Pacific Blue at a local Apple Store and will be picking up tomorrow.

Why wouldn’t you move to a 5g plan?

I am returning a 12 Pro 512 and purchasing a 12 Pro Max 512 on Friday. Apple should have had all iPhone 12’s available at once.

If you're concerned at all on sizing, then choose the probably less expensive 11 Pro Max. You can see if you find one in mint condition in Swappa with AppleCare+.

I will be purchasing a standard iPhone 11 as it is the best least expensive iPhone with excellent cameras (minor differences between 11 and 12 IMO). I'm coming from an iPhone 8+, therefore the 11 will be slightly smaller and lighter for me still, which is something that really matters to me. Main reasons for me wanting to upgrade from the 8+ were 1) size 2) cameras 3) "full-screen" form factor.

I'll upgrade to the 13 if Apple adds features that I expected in the 12 that did not materialize:
  1. Smaller notch
  2. Touch ID + Face ID (or at least improved Face ID; the 12 has zero improvements in this area)
  3. 120Hz screen - Not a deal breaker as I don't notice it when I switch from my iPad with ProMotion to an iPhone, BUT at $829/$999 starting prices for the non-Pro/Pro, it is expected.
If the above does not happen with the 13, then I'll just keep the 11 for another year.
I have officially returned my 12 Pro and purchased a 256GB 11 Pro and saved over $300 in the process. Coming from an 8+, I love it. I actually prefer the feeling of the 11 Pro in my hand (vs 12 Pro), reaching the top right corner for control center is much easier in the 11 Pro. The squared edges look amazing, but he rounded edges are more comofortable to me. The OLED display is amazing, unlike the yellow disgusting display on the 12 Pro.

Right now I don't miss absolutely anything from the 12 Pro. After using the 12 Pro for a full week, I really feel like it is an iOS update wrapped in a new external form factor. Main features of the 12 Pro are to the camera, and they could be easily be given to the 11 Pro had Apple wanted, as they are really software driven. Had apple reduced the notch, added ProMotion, at least enhanced Face ID, my opinion would be different. There was no effort at all by Apple: just make a couple of software updates and lets re-pacakge in a new squared phone.

I will definitively keep the 11 Pro until the 3 things I listed above happen. I can easily keep this for 2 years at a minimum.

I just purchased the 12 yesterday. So far so good. I usually go for the smaller phones and was determined to get the Mini this time around but my eyesight is getting worse so I bought the 12 instead.

I’m sure I could have dealt with the smaller screen if needed but I only have the one pair of eyes so.

Its ironic because I refused to upgrade from my 3 yr old 8 last year due to the rumors of the mini coming and what do I do...I buy a larger phone (ha). At any rate I’m enjoying my new phone (first oled, first face id and first phone with a notch) and it’s all good.
