Its amazing that most of these upgrades can be offset by selling your current iPad on eBay. What may/should have been a 500 min. purchase can usually only be 100 bucks if you sell your old one. One thing that is nice about the iPhones and iPads is the demand they still have and your return on investment is always good.

Sold my iPad 1 last week for $400 (64 gig Wifi). Not sure on the 3 - I actually did not use my iPad all that much. Its definitely cool but I find I don't really have a need for it except on long trips (which are rare).

I plan on selling my iPad 1, and I plan on buying an iPad 3. I actually won't be selling my iPad until after I get the new one. If that means I get less money for it, then so be it. I use my iPad too much to sell it early. :D:D

No.

My iPad 1 does what I want and is still in perfect condition. Never had any trouble with it.

I will only change when it no longer works.

i'm going to wait and see what its got, and then try and weigh up whether its worth it. i'm keen on keeping the iPad 1, just so i can look back in ten years and remember what apple's first tablet was like, try and keep it in good condition and really look after it :)

i'm not keen on splashing out the £700 or so thats needed to get a higher capacity model, but things i'll need to see if there's a chance of upgrading are:

2048x1536 'retina' display
1GB of RAM
same 10 hour battery
same weight as the iPad 2

I'd also love a 128GB option, but i'm becoming more and more doubtful that we'll see that. fingers crossed though!
It'll certainly be tempting if its got the list above. excited for the keynote :)

Haha well put! I am leaning towards
2013 to be the year that Apple is going
To start putting 128GB in their mobile devices. I think its certain that the iPad 3 will have all the rumored features right now.

If there's a Retina display, I'm in. After selling my iPad 1 and using my $100 Best Buy gift card, I should be able to get a 16GB Wi-Fi iPad 3 for about $200. I just hope there will be pre-orders, or at least no shortages at first. It took around 3-4 months for the iPad 2 to be largely available, didn't it?

Depends how much iPad 2 will be after iPad 3 comes out. Paid $299 for brand new iPad 1 when the iPad 2 came out....if similar prices I'll take an iPad 2!

Yeah, I think it took that long. I just hope not too long this time around, I remember when the iPad 1 was released people were waiting forever to get their hands on one. I plan on buying mine at Best Buy so hopefully I will be able to snatch one up a few weeks after release.

I will be upgrading my iPad 1 to a 3 when is first release will buy it from the Apple Website or Locally at my nearest Wal-Mart or Samsclub don't have a near by Apple Store here.. Interested in the iPad 3 since it his a faster processor the Quad-Core and the Retina Display will be good and a better Camera maybe

I remember buying my iPad 1 16GB in May 2010 as an open item but brand new at Best Buy for like $475 and selling it on craigslist a month later for only $340. I just sold my iPad 2 16GB for $350 with like 15 calls/emails in the first day. I truly think the iPad 2 holds it's retail value a little more than the first iPad. Either way, I am pumped for the iPad 3! :)

I think the resale price on 1st Gen iPads is still pretty strong. I got $300 for mine w/ a few extras. When the iPad 3 comes out used iPad 2's will be selling for close to $300 I think. So at a minimum it's a free upgrade to an iPad 2. I still plan on getting an iPad 3 as well so we will be a two tablet household.

I will be there money in hand....

Yep, count me in for an iPad3 as soon as they are available. As several others have expressed, I decided to pass on iPad2 since it wasn't enough of an improvement, but 3 sounds great.

Count me in. There just wasn't enough of a reason for me to upgrade to the iPad2. The iPad 3 looks like it will be everything I wanted. LTE, Retina, Faster Processor, More RAM. It really will be everything I want in a tablet at this point in time. Maybe NFC might be nice assuming the next iPhone has NFC and can somehow link up nicely, but other than that, I can barely think of something I want more. Besides a removable battery, which I doubt Apple will ever do... It really would be nice to be able to replace my battery after a year.

the iPad 1 is running way sluggish lately. I think apple programmed it to start getting slower and slower as the iPad 3 launch approaches to force me to upgrade. It's all good, i'm due for an upgrade anyways, and the iPad 3 sounds like it will be worth the wait.

Yeah I believe that when iOS 6 comes out the iPad 1 will perform pretty subpar, mainly because of the single core processor and 256MB ram.
