That looks like a nice monitor, I have the Dell U38 and the outside hardware looks similar. Great quality built monitor.

I am curious if the M1 will support a docking station for extra USB-C ports? How do you plan to run your 2 monitors? 1 USB-C and one HDMI? Please report back when you get your full system up and running smoothly.
yes, one on each. i don't think they will work off both USB-C ports.

Correct, I just read the post end of page 3 and it was clear one of USB-C and one HDMI. That makes sense anyways to leave you the other thunderbolt port open. I hope its a smooth setup for you. post a picture of your dual monitor setup when you get it going.

Ordered the 1 tb 16mb mini for video editing, currently I use a late 2014 5k iMac. I plan on using a 42 inch 4K tv and buying a color accurate monitor to replace the iMac and seeing if I can edit directly on the t5’s that I record on. If the mini works well for three years I will be happy and at that point I will look into spending more on a true Mac desktop whatever that might be. Hopefully by then Apple might have a mini Mac pro with a m2x or m3x.

Mine has been shipped and waiting to clear custom. Who knows how long that will take?

I cancelled my base-model Mini and instead ordered the 16gb/512gb model.

I didn’t realise that quite a lot of key software wasn’t ready for silicone yet, so figured that Rosetta might appreciate the extra ram, as well as native programs and safari tabs etc.

I also thought that 256gb would be enough with an external drive attached, but did a quick inventory of my 256gb laptop drive last night and realised that a large portion of space was used by system and applications.

I figured in a year or two they’ll likely be a pro M1X release of the Mini that can upgrade to 32gb+, so this is a good middle-ground to see which way I want to go at that point.

The only problem is that I now have to wait until Dec 11-18! 😭

I ordered mine on keynote day to replace my imac. 512/16, it had an estimate of Nov 22 delivery. Now It seems most early birds are getting the custom build week of Nov 16th, including me.

and I was going to use 2 10 year old monitors if I opt for the Mini until I have the extra money to upgrade
There is nothing wrong with 10 year old monitors. I have three dell monitors that run 1680 x 1050 and I find that resolution works well for my eyes. I will have my new Mini connected to two of them and my work HP connected to all three. Kind of miss that the new Mini won't drive all three like the Intel would but three is more of a luxury than a requirement for my personal needs

The monitors will give me what I need for now. They are a little smaller than I would really want 19 and 20 inch. In addition they were free to me. My dad never got rid of his old monitors when he got new. The only thing I will need to get is 1 new adapter since it doesn't look like USB to VGA will work. I already have a HDMI to VGA and wireless mouse / keyboard.

I plan to keep the my 2010 iMac and still have the old wired keyboard and mouse.

Mine is still at preparing to ship with an expected date of the 25th Nov, I was hoping it would arrive this week but looking very unlikely at this stage. Still, I will take Next Wednesday over the 18th Dec :)

For sure, I’d take that too! 😂 Still, I suppose if it’s 18th Dec it’ll be a nice present to look forward to, that’s the way I’m forcing myself to think of it (!)

I notice that in-store pickup is now available, devices are available for delivery this week from Amazon, so I am thinking things will start moving at a bit more pace as this is the actual launch day of the devices.

Not yet but looking very closely at base model. I've had my faithful 2009 Mini as my main desktop machine but this M1 upgrade with iOS looks like the one to finally retire it. I first looked at changing it in 2012

Not gonna lie, I do enjoy watching the tracking info on UPS, this is Tuesday, it's still sitting in China and will be delivered on Friday to me in Scotland (all going well). Love watching these logistics in action.

Yesterday per tracking my order was still in Hong Kong. Today it is on the delivery truck. I am surprised!
