I’m still undecided as to whether I should keep the 12P or get the 12PM.

The smaller form factor and lighter weight makes it much easier to handle. But the loss in screen estate and battery life are quite noticeable.

I still have my 11PM and I picked it up last night and immediately noticed the wider screen and how much more content I can see. But the weight suddenly bothered me and I never really noticed it all year last year.

I can’t decide urghhhhh

I hate that indecisive feeling. I'm on iUP (Apple Upgrade Plan) so the way I see it is, I'll give this a year, and if I want to go back to the Pro Max models, there are only a few months to September next year! :).

I'm 5'11 and let's just say I'm not a small guy (very round...) - my point is, I found the 11 Pro Max too big to use comfortably.

My 5'1 wife... on the other hand... thinks my 12 Pro is too small. <cough>. She's going Pro Max.

Has anyone downgraded from an 11PM to a regular 12? I’m really keen on a much lighter phone and given the 12 is closer to the 12 Pro this year I’d like to get the thoughts of those that might have gone down this route.

I ended the day with 35% on my 11 Pro Max. I end the day with 25% with the 12 Pro. I am always around chargers too. For my lifestyle, I’m never in a situation where I don’t have the ability to charge in the event I‘m pushing 18-20 hours of heavy usage (which I never do).

I felt similar when I bought my first Telsa (range/battery anxiety) and then I used it and realized I am almost never in that situation. It’s similar to the iPhone 12 Pro. I’m tired of carrying a brick in my pocket, but the 5.8” 11 Pro was just a little too small. The 12 Pro is just about perfect for my needs.

Very well said. Exactly how I feel. I'm always around chargers ... and I always have access to my iPad. The way this virus is going, things aren't going to change for awhile, but even when I was going to the office - I had access to chargers all the time.

I just compared my 12 Pro to my wife's 11 Pro Max --- the screen differences are a lot smaller than one thinks. The weight difference is noticeable. Talking on this phone for awhile - holding it up - one really can tell the difference. Much prefer the 12 Pro.
Have to agree with both of you, some folks act like they're on a deserted island without access to a charger. In today's world, sure, I get it, the maximum battery life you can get out of a phone is a good thing but c'mon people.

Same exact situation here my friend. I love my 11 Pro Max, but the weight is awful. I'm almost ready in my cycle to upgrade (Black Friday to be exact), and I'm thinking the 12 Pro will be for me this year. Then again, there's always the "but what if... the 12 Pro Max"... and my wife, forget it, she'd have a 8" iPhone if they made it. Go figure!

I do and I'm returning. 12 Pro was good in concept and I justified it because I didn't want to wait two more weeks. But huge regret. Once u go big, can't go back. As much as I use my phone I need the extra real estate.

I knew I'd regret being impatient.

I submit you never intended to keep it.

I’m 5’8 and pretty skinny and I didn’t have much issues using the 11PM.

I think most ladies like big phones for social media and YouTube and streaming and they can just slip their phones into their handbags.

Most guys just carry phones around in their front pockets - That’s the other thing that slightly annoys me with the 11PM is that it slams against my thighs when I wear gym shorts or linen shorts and go for a walk.

I went from 11 Pro Max to 12 Pro because my damn Ford Explorer wireless charging pad barely fit the 11 Pro Max and the 12 Pro Max is too big. (and I use the car wireless charging a lot). I find the screen size difference negligible.

I downgraded to the 12 Pro Blue, but kept my 11 Pro Max just in case.

The 12 Pro has now been sent back and we were going to be purchasing the 12 Pro Max....

But now having second thoughts on doing so...and we normally upgrade every year, ...but a new form factor of flat sides and better camera than the 11 Pro Max (the 11 camera is fantastic already)......is it really justifiable?

Believe me the weight of the 12 pro same as my 11 pro is not good when you are walking 4-6k's with it in your back pocket.

Coming from the XS Max to trying out out the Note Ultra 20 and yes it’s a beautiful phone I just could see issues with it in the near future having android in the past I was shocked that I was not disappointed with the size of the pro. I bought it outright. It’s nice to have a phone I can throw in my jeans and not have to see a giant phone in my pants (no jokes ah ha) also made a call on it today without my AirPods . In the past would always use my AirPods due to not wanting to hold the bigger phones up to my face and I’m a bigger guy with bigger hands, 6’3”. So far I’m happy but I’m ruling out the max as I mix watching movies and shows in bed ah ha. Maybe it’s time for a new iPad mini??

I downgraded from a 11PM to a regular 12 (blue). I did it because it looks like I'll be working from home for the foreseeable future and I don't use my phone as much when I'm at home and not commuting to work. Plus with little travel and no high school sports for my child, I am not taking as many as photos as I have in the past, so the better camera on the Max is not as important. Not to mention that downgrading saves me about $15 a month (I'm on the iPhone upgrade program.) After 3 days or so, I have been enjoying the 12 and I really like the blue color. Next year, if circumstances change, I may switch back to the Max.

Totally agree, I always thought that the consensus that women want small phones and men big ones was flawed for this reason.

It is less of an issue once the Winter coats come out but I have always found carrying a plus sized phone more of a burden than actually using one.

I have found the 12 Pro to be the perfect size but I will admit I am reluctant to try my 11PM max again (currently oneBay) just in case that changes my mind :)

Got the 12 Pro and it's coming tomorrow. I owned an 11 Pro Max until yesterday, and before that, a XS.
I'm probably going to switch to the 12 Pro Max once it's out though, both for battery and screen size. I just wish the Max phones were a bit lighter! I don't mind the bulkiness. It's the weight that bothers me sometimes.

So I ordered the 12 Pro max case from Spigen which arrived today. In my opinion, after holding it and looking at it, it is way too big for my liking, very uncomfortable especially with flat edges. Will be sticking to the 12 Pro. I'll definitely miss the battery life on the pro max, as I had the 11 Pro max before. the 12 Pro with the same case feels just great.

So I’ve finally made my decision and will return the 12 Pro and get the 12 Pro Max.

The smaller 12 Pro is more manageable but the better battery life and larger screen estate on the Pro Max are too hard to pass up.
I've said it all along, I love my Max sized phones, but like you said, in gym shorts it's just too heavy. BUT, I don't think I'd be happy with anything smaller than my 11 Pro Max's screen size. Last year I started with the Pro Max for 13 days, then tried the Pro and returned it in 3 days for my current Pro Max. As much as I hate to say it, I can see a 12 Pro Max in my future...

I have no regrets. Battery life on the 12P isn't quite what it was on the 11PM, but, until/unless a phone battery can last a legit 2 days between charges, I charge every night. Same for the AW btw.

Also, if that 'lost' 5-10% of charge is somehow important to you, and you're an office/home office worker, just get a cheapie Anker wireless charging pad for your desk. The phone is still "right there" but is now charging instead of just sitting there.

I bought the graphite 256 12P. I have owned max sized phones since the 6s plus. I'm just tired of the bigger phones and the weight. My eyes probably could've used the max for another season, but I'll pull out my readers (lol) or ipad if needed. The battery is pretty neglible for me. I'm always around a charger and I carry a anker battery pack when I know it's going to be a long day or im using my 11PM heavily.

I have the case for the 12P. In comparison with the 11PM case its not that much difference for me. But like I say, different strokes for different folk. Everyone uses their phone differently.

I pulled out my wife's 11 Pro Max again today - and compared. I was surprised at how many sentences were identical (width/height) on my 12 Pro and my wife's 11 Pro Max. A few paragraphs had extra words on the same line due to the tiny bit of extra width but ... the font on the screen was identical.

Every time I feel like I want to go to the Max, I do that and ... that has me convinced.

Was walking around yesterday and realized I didn't even notice my phone in my back pocket. That and the weight of this thing? I'm just enjoying it immensely. Battery life is fine! It charges so much faster!

I'm sure the Apple returns department LOVES you. :)

Size aside (that is always a critical consideration), the 12 Pro Max has VERY significant improvements this year in the camera vs the 12 Pro normal. So I am definitely waiting. But then again I have always had the big phone...

I had the XS Max and decided to go with the smaller 11 Pro last year because I wanted something more manageable. Over the last year I found I could rarely use the 11 pro one handed (i.e. Apps at the top of the screen, control center, etc). Used reachability a lot or used two handed. Also I found I used my Apple Watch for many things. When I did pull my phone out it was to play a game, safari, etc. Also my eyes are getting old and found the 5.8 too small.

So back to the Max this time around. My only worry is the weight, but I will get used to it.

its been less than 24hrs and im happy with the transition, due to current circumstances all the benefits i wanted out of the PM series like longer battery life and camera features have been rendered meaningless as im home 99% of the time and when i am out, i wish i had a smaller phone to carry around for emergency purposes, which the new 12pro is a great fit for... thats my personal take on the downgrade/sizing

This is exactly how I’m feeling re: battery life and camera features. I’m even thinking a regular 12 is gonna be the best option, as I don’t need zoom a whole lot this year.
