I liked the 5C design the most of any iPhone and regretted not buying one at the time. I should probably buy one now to use as an iPod touch and backup.

It's my favorite of all time. I still have a blue one. The jet black feels very similar.

In fact, because the battery was swelling, my wife got a brand new iPhone 5 yesterday to replace her old one. My son is going to get that phone now.

You can get replacement batteries from iFixit if the only thing forcing you to turnover your iPhones is the battery. My wife has been using my hand me down 4s for years and it's good as new after I replaced the battery last year.

I have to issue the warning that the battery replacements are not for the faint of heart. They're difficult and some of the parts are nearly impossible to handle with the naked eye because they're so tiny even though the walkthroughs (magnified) make them look pretty easy to work with.

Who else is still holding on to an older model?

I gave my 4s to my wife a few years ago and she's still rocking it. She was actually still using our original iPad as an eReader up until a few months ago when she took over my little used iPad 4.

The smallest device I have ever worked on was my wife's 12" PowerBook G4. I needed to swap a broken screen for a good one.

The saga involved me opening the case three times, driving the wrong screw through the logicboard at one point, failing to put the heatsink back on, breaking the sleep light indicator and destroying a keyboard key. At one point a hacksaw was involved.

No, no. Sorry. I know my limitations and my replacing anything by myself on an iPhone is never going to happen.

On top of that, this was a SWOLLEN battery. Not even Apple handles that at their stores. It takes special handling because the battery can explode.

All the way around this was better left to Apple. :D

Haha, wise man! My own lack of self awareness almost cost my wife her 4s and she would have been furious. I'm no electrical engineer, but I grew up with one in the house and I'm comfortable with assembling and disassembling things if I have proper instructions so I usually take things apart without much forethought.

I found the 4s battery replacement guide on iFixit.com and looked it over. It would be tricky, but appeared doable so I went for it. It was pretty easy until I had to put it together again and I realized that the part I had to reseat was so tiny that I couldn't tell which direction was up. It was clear as a bell in the magnified photo, but in real life it was so small I could barely pick it up with tweezers. It looked like a speck of glitter. I knew cracking open and removing the battery would be challenging. I was ready for that, but not for this. This one seemingly meaningless step took half the time of the battery replacement.

Eventually, I took a guess at which direction to put the piece in. Either it didn't really matter or I guessed right because I'm still married. ;)

Small world. :)

My dad was an electrical engineer in aerospace for 40 years. Mainly gyro systems. Space Shuttle, Minuteman, Peacekeeper.

So, I'm far more comfortable with electricity, parts, etc than most people I know (need to replace a light switch, easy!) but I'm a complete butterfinger with small stuff and most especially with soldering irons.

I eventually got everything fixed for my wife and she's never had any issues from that point, but that PB is as small as I go! :D

My wife is totally dedicated to her Iphone 5s. She bought it brand new as her first IPhone. If anything happens to it, she will probably get an SE, but does not want anything bigger in her purse. Frankly, since she just uses it for calls and maybe one text a week, the 5s is perfect for her.

I still have a 5S. I have the 3 lines for $100 on T-Mobile so I was using one of them in the 5S. I got a SE delivered on Wednesday so the sim from the 5S is now in the SE. I'll still use the 5S around the house. There's my 5S on the left and the SE on the right. Both are on 10.2.1.

Still have an iPhone 5 that is mainly act as a backup phone/iPod.
It surprisingly is still running fine on iOS 10. Too bad it will probably be ditched by Apple on iOS 11.

I have an iPhone 3GS, 4, (Verizon model), 4S, and my 5S which is my daily. My grandpa gave me his 5S last November when he upgraded to a 6S Plus. The phone was purchased last February so its got a decent lifespan left in it. (At least on the hardware side of things) Just received my Survivor case from Griffin today!

The older iPhones serve as iPods now.

lol I too have an odd fascination with people using these till they die - interested in who has had a phone the longest. Wander if anyone is still using a 3gs/4?!

My landlord is still using an iPhone 4. Lol. Seems to work fine for her as she doesn't do much on it.

I keep going back and forth between my 5S and Samsung S6 still. Inherited from my wife. 5S still pretty usable albeit small.

M in law has my old 5c and fairly happy as far as I can tell.

My wife still has here 5s and uses it daily. I recently switched to a second hand SE and love it. A bit faster (and I have now a 64GB version) and battery wise also great. I will give my old 5s to my mother soon.

I have my 3S, 4S, 5S and 6S.... still use the 5 and 6 as phones.
Waiting for the 8S as I found nothing to about the 7 worthy of
upgrade purchase.
8S+ Will be the one worth waiting for. A13 processor

I had to downgrade to a 5s. Lol lost my job due to federal fraud charges to the company. I miss my 7 plus and miss the cases @blaine07 buys. I can’t compete anymore. I’m so lost lol. It’s not by choice. Lol the battery is forked so I’m tethered to a battery pack
