Who took off work on 4/24?

I did. We use an automated leave system which means I can cancel it at any time, even on the 24th, with a couple clicks should my watch not arrive as expected on that day.

Before I used to just sign the shipment release form that Apple provides and leave it on my front door. The package would waiting for me to get home. All that changed with my 5s shipment. I got home to a note from the driver that read "I must have your signature on the pad."

I got upset because, in my opinion, if I sign the release form provided by the sender (Apple in this case who is paying for the service), I am releasing both Apple and UPS from any liability should my package get stolen. I was so upset that I did something I had never done before. I figured out the UPS email address format, I looked up the CEO's name and sent him a short polite email. A couple hours later someone from UPS emailed me back and the driver was back at my door shortly after that with my package.

I don't want to have to go through that again, so yes, I took the day off.

I hate it that Apple schedules deliveries on Fridays because if something goes wrong, you have to wait until Monday for another delivery attempt.

I booked the 24th of work as soon as the release date was announced, i was hoping to pre-order to pick up from store, or queue for in store stock.

I understand, I would too! But here's hoping that yours gets bumped up quickly. What did you order? I initially ordered the SS Link in about one minute and got the later date. But if you buy the link by itself, it gets shipped quicker...makes no sense. I'm hoping it's just that Apple wanted a large buffer so as not to disappoint, but will get it to you sooner.

Wow, that's great that you did that! I was anticipating taping the signature to my door if it gets shipped at a later date, but that gives me some thought. Hopefully your email might have ensured that if a signature is taped, they must leave it at the door. In any case, great job!

Glad I have so much happening this week up until the 24th. Been super excited. If it would have been a slow week at work, I would have taken the whole week off! (not just for the AW, but because it's finally nice out too, but still).

We've a lot of work on at the moment, so I couldn't spare myself the time off, but it remains to be seen whether I'm happy or sad about that. I can probably put off starting work till the mid afternoon anyway, so it's no biggie either way, but if it doesn't turn up, I won't regret having work to distract me.

I'm working from home the 24th until the watch gets delivered then planning on going into the office. Thought it'd be nice to test out the watch out in the real world on the first day to see how it made things easier/better during my commute, while at work, etc.

Of course I say this now but I may just end up working from home the whole day and tinkering around with the watch.

By a weird coincidence, my brother-in-law bought a present back in December of tickets to a comedy show on the 24th. He lives about 200 miles from me, so I'd already organised the day off and agreed to stay at his place for a couple of days.

I've had to designate their place as my delivery address. Although I got confirmation of my order at 8:02 (UK), I have a feeling that it'll miss the 24th and I'll then be in a lot of hassle trying to change the delivery address to my place.

There is an option on the order details to change delivery. I personally would be too afraid to change anything at this point. My luck is it would get cancelled. I feel like just checking the status 20 times a day I could accidentally cancel the order.

I took off the 24th but I also have to get a tooth pulled that day and they have to put me under. So if the watch does arrive like I thought it would, I may be too doped up to play.
