Having it sent to work. It's too much trouble to take a day off - teachers do twice the work to be gone for a day. And as others have mentioned, the last time I took the day off for an iPhone delivery, the UPS guy didn't show until well after I would have been home, but they show up to school early since they know no one is there after 3.

I probably would have if they were available in store to purchase and if I didn't have any major projects due. I have a ton of days to use up.

I'm on nights Thursday night and it's my last one of this block so I have Friday off anyway. It's just staying awake waiting to see if the things turns up!

I have Friday off, but unfortunately have a May delivery. But the decision of what to do on May 13th will be made by what happens on April 24 for the first batch deliveries. :)

I work from home, but if it actually arrives early in the day Friday, I'll be taking the day off.

In past pre-releases, they usually don't give a range for the first batch of shipping, do they? Isn't it usually just the launch day, or am I mis-remembering? The fact even the first batch of buyers are being told 4/24-5/8 makes me think they aren't expecting to hit everyone that day.

I've seen some mention of folks that took 4/24 off in other threads. I did too, so I thought it might be fun to have a thread of our own to post to on Friday as to whether it was a good or bad decision. Lol

Going into the launch I scheduled 4/10 off because for one I figured I would be too excited to sleep until launch time, and because I was hopeful that I could schedule a try on appointment that same day, which I did. After my order of course.

Then I scheduled the 24th off so I could suffer in silence while pacing the floor for the delivery truck. Lol Yes, we all know now we have a "shipping window" that I didn't expect going into this launch, but oh well a day off is a day off. Plus I'm sure these forums will be all abuzz that day. That's also what prompted me to go ahead and sign up, I've probably been lurking here for 15 years or more. :D
I will be qorking from home assuming the watch is on the truck for delivery.

I'm off and booked flights for Thursday night to London. Hopefully it does deliver Friday #

So true. I'm an informal educator who works for a science museum now, but I'm a former classroom teacher, and it's just not worth it to take a day off. With any luck you will get the watch before lunch or your planning time and have a chance to set it up before carrying on with the rest of the day.

My watch is being delivered to my job on Friday so...no.

At least I hope it's being delivered on Friday...the 4/24 - 5/8 delivery span makes me a bit nervous.

I am off work, although my experience is that apple products are always shipped to me around 4 or 5 pm...

Geez. You know for next time, you still have the option of picking up the package that same day, even after you missed the delivery.

I thought so too. I called customer service to arrange for that. I was told that they could hold it, but it wouldn't be available for pick up until Monday since they don't know when the truck would be back after the delivery route, sort whatever was still left in the truck, move my package to "hold", etc.

My office is moving to a new place on Friday. They gave a holiday for all of us. What a great coincidence!! My deliver date is 4/24 - 5/8. I hope I get it on 24th

You've wasted a day off (unless you like sitting on your bum all day on the sofa). The majority won't get it on the 24th.

Look at your delivery estimates.

No way that's the case. I'd be willing to bet that almost everybody with the 4/24 – 5/8 window gets it on Friday.

The Apple Gods were with me when my company scheduled me to work this weekend, which gave me the ability to take 4/24-4/27. So if I get it launch day I'll be having a very nice 4 day weekend!

Since I'm on vacation the following week I did not. But I will leave the office to go grab it as the ups depot is 2 minutes away.

Really? At least someone is optimistic. We'll see. Does that mean people with dates from 12th of May to the 26th will get it on the 12th of May too?

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of them get it before May 12th. Apple tends to under-promise and over-deliver, and Tim Cook's executive department's email to the user on this forum seemed pretty optimistic. It has also been pointed out that Apple Watch workshops (which begin on 4/24) require you to bring your own watch, which points to a large amount of consumers getting theirs quickly.

I work shifts & was scheduled to work Friday, but was asked if I could work on Thursday instead of the friday, very happy to say yes.

i will take that bet, I doubt ANYBODY will get it on friday. (okay, personally i never had any luck getting anything on time from Apple)
