My camera's not very good, but why don't you read about the new Safari? :)

Can you at least take a picture of the box and CD's to prove you've gotten tiger. Anyone could have easily printed out that tiger getting started guide off of their computer. :p

Yes, but Nermal is a Moderator, I don't believe he would go to such lengths to lie to the community. I think it's time for this illegal Tiger witch-hunt to stop. If someone downloads Tiger, that's their business. They know it's wrong, and they don't need people to tell them so.

I don't think the issue here is whether it was pirated or not, but more to the point of knowing if people ARE receiving Tiger copies already.

That's true, hadn't thought of it that way. I guess I'm just venting because I'm getting a little tired of anyone with Tiger getting accused of pirating it.

No worries. Generally, I'm against pirating, but I'll admit that I tried to get the GM off bit torrent. I mean, I already have a family pack on order so I feel no moral regret.

Yeah he is a Mod but he could also be playing a practical joke of some sort. I just don't see how hard it is to take a picture of the box and cd's.

Tiger is an awsome OS so far, feels faster then Panther overall and most if not all the apps work (things like PS, Illustrator, Word, Powerpoint, etc). I'll see if I can get some shots of the screensavers later on tonight theres an RSS screen saver that just displays the headlines (which ever you want) and has a "press 1 for more info" under it as its spinning around.

Also I will be buying Tiger on the 29th at the Apple store just in case anyones wondering.

Could some one post some screenshots of "Blot" a WYSIWYG HTML editor included in the Tiger developer tools? :)

I might be able to do this a bit later today. I've just done my clean install, and I'm happy to say that the bugs I mentioned before seem to be gone now :)

Now I just need to reinstall everything :(

Hey better that than a buggy system ;)

Aggggh i want my tiger

RE the two help menus in quicktime:

I was chatting to a friend earlier who'd got Tiger installed - and also noticed this bug. He eventually tracked it down to the DivX quicktime component, and removing it fixed it for him.

i'm glad tiger's out
can't wait to rub it in the faces of some windoze freaks/ apple-haters

now the only thing left to do is get a decent mac...can't wait for the updated powermacs and imacs...

to the people who have tiger: what's your favorite new feature? was all of apple's hype for spotlight worth it?

Aha! I had that component installed, and of course it's gone now that I've clean installed, but that would explain it :)

Remember Modisty is power by itself. There is too many "my computer is better then yours" threads and it tends to bring more apple haters here.

Show off tiger and your computer, just be modest about it, it tends to bring up curiosity in others ;)

I'm a bit surprised that the default widgets haven't changed their look significantly since first demoed a year ago. They are still ugly as ****. I will refuse to use that orange calculator so I hope the look is customisable or that some decent third party calculator widget is made.

Edit: Cool, I triggered the profanity filter :D

Upgrade from 10.3 to 10.4...

There are three types of installs you can do:

1. Upgrade: Essentially, it just replaces the Panther system files with Tiger system files. All your programs, files, music, preferences, accounts, etc remain the same.

2. Archive and Install: Takes your "Home" folder, saves it, and then installs Tiger. You'll have to drag files you want to use out of the archived folder and put them in the new Tiger Home folder.

3. Clean Install: Formats your hard drive and installs Tiger. Like taking the computer out of the box. You'd have to reinstall any premium software and things you installed after you got your computer (Quicken, MS Office, iLife, except iTunes, etc).

(If I explained any of that wrong, please correct me)

So that means that if I want to keep all my Word/PowerPoint etc. documents saved on my HD without making back-ups, I only have options (1) and (2)?

Based on what I have read so far, (1) and (2) seem the most un-reliable with (3) being optimal. If I want to do a clean install, what must I do in order to save my "Home Folder" documents?

Sorry, I've never done an upgrade before (got my PowerBook w/ 10.3 loaded already)

 I'm sorry if this is a really elementary question...

If you want to do (3) you must save all the files that you want to keep to an external hard drive or write them to DVD-R or CD-R and then copy them back after the clean install.

I ordered via Apple's Education web page so I hope I get mine soon. Oh well only 5 days but I can't wait! Time to prepare the PowerBook, iBook, and PowerMac for installation!!

Can't wait to use Spotlight...I keep losing things. Thanks for all the cool screens guys :D

Isn't that the instant messaging client Adium? I think they use a duck as their logo.
