Sure looks nice,

but I just bought a 23' ACD, its stupid I know but I just have to have matching aluminum on my desktop

On a totally unrelated note I also purchased a macmini for my mum, it really is a great little box, got it from CW in london if anyones interested, no shipping delays like the apple store ;)

It has begun! The monitor retails for $1199 and they've already started the discounts to $1080! I'm betting it goes under $950 within 3 months.

Excellent. Dell (with extra inputs, better warranty) $1079, Apple $1799. No brainer IMO. You can get a 24"+20" Dell for less than one Apple 23" (and that's without using discount coupons on the Dells, which can be found all over the place!!)

I loath Dell PC's, but the displays are superb.

Checked the UK site to find prices as the Dell press release said it would be avaible in Europe in march but no joy yet.

Quite fancy one of these big boys, wonder if WOW has a widescreen mode on PC anyone?

Discounted already.
10% off plus $75 off coupon. Final price = $1,004.10
use coupon ?LBP9VN9BDDFT2

The 20" version is also discounted, use same coupon and get either the widescreen or normal aspect ratio for $486.75.

Coupon expires tonight or after certain number of uses so act now if you want it.

Now Waiting

Ordered and just been informed it is due to be shipped in 2 weeks and 1 days from order placed... I WANT IT NOW!

I have to thank Dell at this point for shoving a big finger into the pricing of LCD... With this price, I hope we can all watch Apple pull down their prices by 30%+. Yeah, a dream...

Will post when I get it and have had a good play around. Sadly, I dont have a mac at this moment.. (Have had a few) but will comment in screen quality and basic construction!

Cheer,

I noticed this thread and thought i would post a quick reaction. I just received mine today, so far i am suitably impressed. It's a beautiful screen. No dead or stuck pixels, refresh seems pretty nice. I installed the ut2004 demo just as a test, i didn't notice any ghosting or anything. I'm actually going to hook this up to my gaming pc tonight which has a much better graphics card, and test a few games on it just to see what it's like. I also played a dvd ( toy story ) on it, and it looked fantastic. I don't have anything bad to say at all so far. If i come across anything i'll post back.

Has anyone actually tried this on a Mac yet? I have a 2.5 Dual G5 with the stock card, would this thing from Dell work? I looked into HP's 23 inch monitor, but even HP's support said they do not support the higher resolutions on a Mac, yet MacWorld gave it a high rating using a Mac. If Dells works on a Mac? I might look into this.

I'm using it on my dual 2.5ghz g5 right now. It's pretty amazing. I'm running it at 1920x1200. I can't wait until i can actually find someone with the x800xt card in stock for the mac so i can upgrade the stock card. I should have stated in my little review above what systems i was testing this on. I've also had this on my athlon 64 gaming system with a nvidia 6800gt card. So far it's been nothing but awesome.

I have the HP at work hooked up to my G5, it supports all resolutions. HP support is retarded . . .

I am thinking of getting the Dell 2405FPW. I currently work on a Power Mac G5 1.8 with the stock card (NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra with 64MB DDR SDRAM). Will this monitor work O.K. with that?
I mainly use apps like Quark, Photoshop and Dreamweaver.

I am also planning to buy a new G5 whenever the next revision comes along. Which graphics card should I get to make it work well with this monitor? I am not going to play any games or anything, just want to have a good machine for my photo and design work.

Thanks, that is really what a Mac user loves to hear, it works on our machine, not just the darkside.

Thanks, I called HP support in the USA and Japan, they both said it would not work at the high resolutions on a Mac, in fact their sites on the net reflect that also. Yet the 23 inch HP won the reveiw over at MacWorld when compared to the BenQ and Apple and Samsung 23 inch all running on a Mac. According to most sites I've seen the first 3 are all the same Panel.

After having just ordered the 2005fpw I should have never looked at that last picture of it beside the 24". I know I will be thrilled to have the 20" but just seeing that picture made my computer cry a little.

A whole bunch of Aussies are organising a group purchase of these things through the broadband forums...

Rec'd mine yesterday. Working FABULOSLY with my 1.25ghz powerbook 15". Looks SO MUCH better through DVI than my old monitor did through the DVI/VGA adapter. Plus, it's huge.

Anyone seen/have a Dell LCD TV? I'm interested in the 26inch and was wondering how the quality of the picture is as a computer monitor. Because you can get this LCDTV for a similar price as the new 24 inch and I could use a second TV. On the other hand, how is the 24 inch monitor's picture quality as a TV?
