No touch ID would be tough to get used if true but very excited by the OLED display/no bezels and wireless charging.

seems APPLE is the new Harley Motorcycle
but
i currently own a iPhone 5.0 and NEED to update.

i had the same issue last year:
I had a 10 year old 15" MBP and NEEDED to update. I bought into the junk usbC 2015 15" MBP. kinda sad (for me).

Or maybe expectations have always been met? I haven’t been disappointed by any of my iPhones yet.

Neither have I, but I'm never going to subscribe to the philosophy of "you get my money, sight unseen". Blind loyalty to a brand is how innovation (as well as competitive pricing) dies.

I would say at this moment there is a good chance that I will buy the "iPhone 8", but there's no way I'm saying definitely until I at least watch the entire keynote presentation.

Yeah I agree with you on that. Rereading it, I do agree that it's a bit silly to just say "I'm buying this no matter what!". I always watch the keynote and then make my final decision, but right now I'm very likely to buy it unless they really screwed it up badly.

I'd say I'll definitely buy the 8 or X or whatever until at least I watch the entire keynote and I'm disappointed by it, having never disappointed on my iPhone purchases before.

I'll wait for the 8S or SE2. Don't see the point of jumping on first gen of a new tech when inevitably they will improve it on the second gen.

It's a ridiculous question really. Nobody has seen an iPhone 8 yet. More importantly, I haven't seen one yet. Who would be able to say whether they will buy a phone that hasn't even been announced, that they haven't seen yet, where they haven't seen the price tag yet? There are two categories of people who can answer that question: Fanboys and haters. Any normal person will wait and see.

But then, the next, next one will be even better! :p

Yup.

Normal? Perhaps neutral is more of an appropriate label. I upgrade annually because I have the ability to through employment privileges and I just enjoy having the Last tech available, not because I necessarily want it, because it's my preference. I don't need the latest tech by any means, but if I'm granted the opportunity and knowingly how Apple continues to make an exceptional product with their customer services, then that's all I could ask for. All the latest features and technology that's rumored is nothing more than a bonus, because I stay open minded to Until the actual release.

I'm leaning against at this point.

Don't get me wrong. If the rumors are true it's going to be an AMAZING phone.

The concepts look simply stunning.

But I absolutely love my 6S. The size, the headphone jack, the space gray color.

So I'm not really sure!

Yeah I really love my iPhone 7 Plus AND it has some sentimental value in being a huge Christmas surprise from my husband.

The funny thing is my husband and I thought for sure we would both skip the iPhone 7 Plus. We were using Android phones and had 6S Pluses and I also had an SE I really loved.

(I accumulated a LOT of phones in 2016 via BOGO deals and discounts).

I was really pretty mad and disgusted with the removal of the headphone jack. And I did move on successfully to upgrade paths with Samsung. But after persuading my husband to get an iPhone 7 Plus because he was unhappy with his S7 Edge acting up on Marshmallow, I got a bit of envy. His 7 Plus was really nice and pretty faultless. He picked up on my envy and decided to surprise me with a 7 Plus of my own and I admit to being wowed. The dual lens camera has been excellent.

I had also thought I'd skip the Samsung S8/S8+. But I got the S8+ and have been similarly won over

So now I have kind of figured out I just really love smart phones and love to try out the newest when I can.

It's very indulgent behavior that may disgust people who don't know me and my life, but I'm 50 years old and have spent the first 40+ years of my life living very frugally and putting other people's needs first. If I don't get my time to go a little crazy now, I never will, because looming ahead of me is living on a retirement income with a kid in college. The belt will tighten again.

I did think I'd skip the iPhone 8 because my 7 Plus has been so good. But using a Samsung S8+, I find myself drawn to the idea of an iPhone that has some of the features I enjoy from my Samsung phones.

I am wary of the possibility of there being no Touch ID or fingerprint scanner of any kind. So my answer on the survey was to wait and see.

The smart thing to do would be to wait until the phone has been out a few months to see what the issues are. But preordering might be a lot of fun if the Keynote goes well. I will have to see what my finances are at the time.

If I'm honest with myself, even if they do place the fingerprint scanner on the back, or even if they decide not to include it at all, I will still be buying. That's the only thing that remains uncertain. The bezelless redesign, OLED screen, AR cameras etc. are all pretty much a given at this point and are more than worthwhile upgrades, the first two being the main things we've all been wanting. I'm almost certain they'll add ProMotion to the list too. All of that is an instant buy from me. 100%. No hesitation. Heck, it was already an instant buy from me since 2015.

I just got a great deal a jet black 7... I love it.
If I do get the 8, it'll have been out for a while and I'll be getting a great deal on it too
Try recording the video in a quiet room and play back with loud volume.

If I was wealthy and money wasn't something that kept me up at night .. I would have just bought one outright because the geek in me wants the latest and greatest, even if I don't need it.

But I voted: Doubt it.

Because I haven't seen it yet, there are no facts about it, and there's always a bit of hesitation buying a first gen of something new they introduce. I am more the 's' kinda upgrade guy. Plus, I have the iPhone 6s Plus right now, and I don't know how the screen is on the new one. My bad bad eyes are very happy with iOS 11's way of displaying fonts rather big on the bigger screen, and we will see first how this goes on iPhone 8. On Samsung's S8+ the screen is beautiful, but the bigger fonts and stuff are just less comfortable to use, I did love their design, but real world usage I keep giving my friend back his phone and sticking to my 6s+ . Plus, it isn't broken, it's fine, it's fast, it's doing what i want, and I don't see iOS 11 giving me any reason to really upgrade to the 8, besides perhaps OLED and new tech, and more storage, and maybe for the better camera. But they aren't 'need' reasons, they are 'want' reasons.

I'd like to upgrade, but i doubt it, for me personally, I will wait and see what the thing actually is, this time around since the design and screen is new, I might want to use it for a few hours before deciding on anything. But even then, unless there's a significant reason to upgrade from this completely fine working 6s+ .. I dont know why i would skip the 7, 7s, and go to the 8, and maybe wait for next year's 8s update when this 6s+ is really ready to be replaced.
Having a year with less money to pay to the telecom each month means i can also use that time to save up for the probably more expensive 8/8s.

no rush at all.

No. Happy with my new 6s. I have little interest in physical changes.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts on the matter. My 6s+ is doing everything I need it to do. Next year in May my phone will be paid off and I probably still won't upgrade.

Very happy with the 6s+. Now that it costs $$$$$ to upgrade upfront, definitely keeping this 6s+ for awhile. My guess is at least another year (May 2019).

Question is what will the iPhone 8 do better than the 7s, probably not much if anything at all.

I think with the iPhone 8 your paying the premium more mainly for the bezeless design & OLED screen that will still be 1080p not QHD.

Also storage options which will only start at 128GB if rumours are true hence another reason to bump up the price.

One thing that concerns me about OLED displays is the dreaded burn in, I've had OLED displays in the past and all of them have suffered from either image retention or burn in as the case of my Nexus 6 that suffered badly from burn in.

If i decide to buy this year iPhone i will go for the 7s.
