Does every single product have to be an "innovation"?

I think this is why they called it the SE (special edition)
The phone is specifically made for people who wanted an updated 4" phone in a design they love and at the same time they also get to appeal to a wider international audience with a lower starting price for a reasonably top of the line iPhone.

These are great things!

I'm not sure why it's bothering you so much.
The SE isn't for you, and that's of course fine.
Some of us are literally jumping for joy with this release!

Can't we all just be happy that we have such great options?
Like is said I am super Apple you guys love the SE. It's a cool small phone. My argument was with the user crapping on the 6s. That argument is so tired. Trying to crap on the phone you don't have is just stupid. I think the SE is a great phone for a lot of people. I really hope you enjoy yours. Sorry my argument was not really with you.

Again just a bunch of subjective opinions. I have no issues holding my iPhone 6s. For me it's the perfect size just needs a better battery. You have every right to love the SE, but crapping on the iPhone 6s to make you feel better about your purchase is so old.
The fact that iOS doesnt take use of the extended screen real estate isn't subjective. Try actually reading my post. If the big screen could actually watch a movie while browsing Twitter or something it'd be one thing, but as of now it's just a rolling pinned iPhone 5 with a crappy Samsung-esque design. I tried giving the + and 6S a shot, they're terrible iPhones. Steve Jobs would have never let those turds release at all. The only reason they exist is to compete with Android. Being Android-like in my eyes is a negative thing. The SE is as far from android as possible, making it the best iPhone ever created. If you want the bigger screen, why not go with android? More functionality. Better large screen designs. No reason to get a 6S/6+

Agree - No reason to crap on the 6s (also no reason to crap on re-using the great 5s case design in my opinion - some of us still prefer it to anything that's newer).

To each our own. I'm just so pleased they didn't leave us 4" fans dying on the vine (at least not yet...haha)

Oh whatever you say. I love my iPhone 6s, and the bigger screen is a dream for me. The iPhone 5 is just too small for my hands, so this is perfect. No reason to go to android, and that is not an argument at all. I love iOS, and the bigger screen works perfect.

Yeah Apple did invent stuff, but using a design that is 4 years old is not inventing. Sorry it's just not. Enjoy your SE, but it's not an invention by Apple.
Now you're just talking out your ass. I gave you tons of reason to back up my claims and you just say this crap. Enjoy your android knockoff.

Yeah I don't mind the reuse of the design for a phone like the SE. If 4" folks still love it, why leave it. To each his/her own. I love my iPhone 6s. I am sure you guys will love the SE.

I love the 5 design, a thinner version of it would have been really neat, but saying the SE isn't an innovation is just straight up false. It's $399. At that cost I can afford to have the 6S and the SE and switch at will. Innovation isn't always a shiny new design. Cramming the 6S into a 5S is innovative as hell.

Haha yeah you have given me nothing, but that is fine. I will enjoy my 6s and have been since September. Sure feels like an iPhone to me trying to be an iPhone.

Hmmmm. Apple releases a phone that is thicker and has a smaller screen size. I guess people don't really care much about how thin the phone is after all.

Count me in that group.
I hate the phones getting too thin.
They actually get harder for me to hold/grip well.

The super thin thing is certainly not about ergonomics and more about "sex appeal in marketing" or some crap.... :-(

I've often wondered why Apple hasn't worked on thinning out the top and bottom bezels on the iPhone. Is their some reason why it needs to be so thick? I agree that the iPhones are a bit to thin now. I had to find a squarish case for my 6 to make it easier to pick up.

I have to think the bezels will get some work at some point - It's the next logical step.

Perhaps iPhone 7. Honestly I'm fine with a 4.7" screen if the physical dimensions can get smaller. The overall size is the problem, not the screen itself.

I could not agree more and I've been saying the same thing myself. If Apple used the 4.7 screen in a smaller form factor it would be perfect I think.

No one complains when they use the same design for the MacBook Pros for years. Smartphones are becoming a mature market. We don't need to be blown away by a different exterior design every year or two years. If a design is great (like the 5/5S) I see no reason why Apple can't keep using it and just upgrade the internals.

Disappointed apple didn't refresh the chassis. So I'm in no rush as my 5s works just fine.

My parents as well as my girlfriend.

My GF actually got kinda Tumblr famous due to her complaint about phones getting bigger. (at last count she has around 150K favs/reblogs).

She has teeny tiny hands.

So tempted to get it. Even though I have an iPhone 6s+ in Rose Gold... i'm just so tempted to get it because of the price point! 829aud [64gb] vs 1130aud [back then that 5s]... i know people will say the designs outdated but the fact it has 6s internals make it almost as close if not better than the 6s if 3d touch and the extra 0.7" space isn't required!!! [well that's how I see what the diff in the 6s vs ths SE is like]

Goodness this phone must offend you so much that you feel compelled to bag it in every single thread it is mentioned. The question was are you buying one, not what don't you like about it.

Regardless, the 5SE has an ideal form factor for many, better battery life than the 6S, is significantly cheaper. Plenty of people won't buy the 128GB model anyway, Touch ID 1 is perfectly good for many (and is still on the iPad Pro etc) and plenty of people don't give a damn about the front camera.

I'm buying one at some stage as it is the perfect phone for me - all the performance enhancements of the 6S, without the bigger screen, plus a better battery life. Win win win.

:D:D:D:D

To be honest people shouldn't really care about the facetime camera as a "breaking point" of buying a phone because mainly to how i see it apple does 95% of the work on the actual rear camera [which is what i believe most people should use that for!]... Even my iphone 6s+ the 5 "megapixel" facetime camera still isn't satisfying to me Imo but i live with it. however the rear camera is a total killer in terms of sharpness and detail rendering and color reproduction.

Awe. Let me guess: the 6S guys are still bitter about SE. I mean, you guys have 3D Touch and a few more things and we have one of the most important things: 2-3 hours of EXTRA battery life.

So, for me:

2-3 hours extra battery life > those extra features

I think both sides should cool it, honestly. I bought my 6 a year and a half ago for a reason. I also have my reasons for now buying the SE rather than waiting for the 7 (upgraded internals for a cheaper price, prefer to hold off for the 2017 phone vs the 7). Everyone has their own pros and cons to weigh in making their decision. It's the same thing with every new release - a lot of personal justification goes on so that people feel good about their choices, which in turns leads to other people putting the new release down to justify *their* choices.

I really wish people would stop saying the design is old.
If it's a great design, the age is irrelevant.

When did everyone start actually believing that "newer is always better"?

I love the 5S design, to me it's like the classic Leica cameras, such a beautiful design that it doesn't feel aged. On the other hand the 6 and 6s didn't appeal to me design wise. I hope they keep the SE edition updated each year, as that will be my phone purchase each time. Will be selling my iPhone 6 once my SE arrives on Thursday!

i read many nonsense in the last years about battery life and would prefer to wait.
btw. you will use a 4 inch device less hardcore than a bigger one and have due this more battery life.
