I went from an $850 64GB 6S Plus to a $950 256GB 8 Plus and I think it's worth it. Maybe you and others don't though.
What do you like about the 8 Plus? I've considered getting it. I currently have a 6S Plus 128GB. It has been one of my favorite iPhones I've had. I've considered the 8 Plus for the better camera, battery life and 3GB RAM vs 2GB on the 6S Plus. Anything else you like or notice?

I always thought the wireless charging thing was a bit of a gimmick... but I actually liked it quite a bit... will be something that I miss.

The way I see it.. people should be able to resell their 6S for $350-450 Their 6S plus for $350-500 (those were completed eBay listing I found)

Minus eBay fees and PayPal and shipping. So take about 10-15 percent off those prices.

So that $699 iPhone 8 64gb iPhone really ends up costing you about $300-400. And not the $699 price tag.

I have a 1/8" hairline crack in the bottom corner of the phone. I doubt I would get $300 for the phone.

And I woundnt trade it in to Verizon for $300 even if they offered. The phone is worth more to me than that.

Moreover, to replace the glass...it would only cost me what... $200-250?

I’ve owned a gold phone for three gens, didn’t even give it a second look when they revealed it, figured it was normal gold. Even when I took it out of the box for the first time on this mostly cloudy day, it looked copper/gold like. So imagine my surprise while I’m waiting in line at the grocery store, under their fluorescent lights, and I pull the phone out my pocket. It was ****ing pink! Thank god the demand isn’t crazy for this thing and I was able to exchange it for the black one.

My 8+ has been superb. SO much faster than 6s+ it replaced. It's performed flawlessly since I did the migration via iOS 11 earlier today.

There doesn't seem much excitement for this year's iPhone launches. I was a Best Buy today and saw the demo models and there wasn't any lines for any of the phones and none of them were sold out. One of the workers I know said they had sold some that morning. I thought he said around 10-12 which isn't that many.

I don't expect the iPhone 8 to have a complete sellout like some were thinking. Over the course of the next few months, it will continue to sell and there will be those
who upgrade when the time is ready. Because it's more available at the moment.

Definitely not! I love my 8 plus to bits. It's a very worthy upgrade from my old 6 in many ways. The rapid & cordless charging is a bonus and the glass body is really nice to handle and look at in my eyes.

😱 I wasn't expecting that! Thanks for the warning!

Apparently this was not meant to be. I've had the digitizer become totally non-responsive twice. Apple refused to replace it because they were able to "bring it back" with a hard reset... which BTW is now a new process... no longer do you "chord" the keys... pressing them in rapid order: Press UP volume, DOWN volume and then press/hold POWER.

So I returned it for a refund. Gonna sit this one out... and maybe the next couple of releases, too. $950 for a 256GB iPhone 8+ that locks up all the time? No thanks.

Found this on Twitter: https://twitter.com/themizo1/status/911426049870897152

Wonder if they may have some defective digitizers out there. #DigitizerGate

I wouldn't be surprised if anybody returned their phone.

Earlier today, someone posted in a thread that Apple had made "huge improvements to the 6s" to get to the ip8.

Being that I have a 128gb 6s...I would have to spend $850 to get the closest equivalent ip8, since of course the 128gb tier is now gone.

Is anyone going to tell me with a straight face that it worth $850 to go from a 128gb 6s to the 256gb ip8?

Would you tell your parents that?

In real world usage the difference isn’t worth $100 let alone $800

The iPhone 6S+ is the biggest bang for buck iPhone you can get now in the plus size range. Period.

People upgrading their 7 for an 8, then returning it because it wasn't a big enough improvement ... how did you manage to learn that a new iPhone was released without knowing anything about its spec?

That’ why am not upgrading this year I will upgrade next year with iPhone 9 am vary happy with the iPhone 7 pluses right now
[doublepost=1506180150][/doublepost]Or I may wait it out like some are and get iPhone 10

I think your making justification for your purchase.
It’s no longer a big upgrade after a 6s in terms of speed.
Going from a 6+ to a 7 or 8 is huge. A 6S was the first iPhone that is actually good power/speed wise.
There isn’t much of a different day to day speed wise in everyday tasks between those two phones.
I see less and less people upgrading because there isn’t much of difference from a two year old phone. ITs not like it was 3+ years ago. Not with iPhones anyway.

Why would you go from a 7 to an 8? There's not enough difference to justify that. I'd go from only maybe a 6/6+ to an 8/8+ and even that is pushing it a little.

I'm going from a Galaxy S7 to an 8 because I want to keep my phone for maybe 3/4years and the S7 performance is RUBBISH after 18months. Comparing it with my sisters iPhone 6 and it was laggy and slow to even that 4 year old phone! In my case, the 8 is justified - rather than the 7 128GB which is only £50 less than the 8 64GB!

Hmm, having just upgraded from a 6s+ to an 8+, I beg to differ, period.

6s+ got a bit laggy, esp after iOS 11. the 8+ is smoking fast on the same OS.

Night and day difference. Value is subjective. I'm very happy with the purchase.

Where do you come up with $800? I checked my purchase price for the 6s+ with 128 GB and Applecare vs my 8+ with 256 GB and same coverage, and paid pretty much the same for both, two years apart.

The only reason why to get a new phone is resale value. It’s my only reason why I was upgrading every two years to pay for my new phone from selling my old one. That was with subsidies of course. But it still applies now. Longer you wait the less your phone is worth. 3+ years and you won’t get a whole lot for it. Selling it two or less years gives you a nice chunk to put down on another phone.

I think your making justification for your purchase.

In the same vein, I think YOU'RE making justification for being envious. I've aways upgraded every two years. Who are you to tell me how I spend my money for a business purchase?

You are entitled to your opinion... and you know nothing of other people's situations. First, the processor and the camera are significantly better. Add in the wireless charging. Then there is the case of large families (me, wife, 6 grown kids, 6 spouses, 17 grandkids) who pass phones down rather than everyone always buying new. There are plenty of reasons to upgrade, should we choose to do so. Then there's the matter of "it's my money" and the fact that I have the ability and option to upgrade just because I can.

Of course, the issues that I listed in the first post caused me to decide to return the 8+.

Again, you are welcome to your opinion... but that opinion does not hold for everyone.

lol I’m not envious at all. I sat out this years launch. Waiting for the x. I see no need for the 8 this year. It’s a filler launch. Pointless in my eyes.

That's a long reply for someone who doesn't care about my opinion! Similarly, I never said my opinion was the be all and end all, I just stated it. As I'm entitled to do!
