Frankly, I'm surprised so many people feel that screen protectors are a must.

When I picked up my 6+ at Apple, I asked to buy a screen protector. The guy recommended against it - saying it just isn't worth it since the new screens are much better and the screen protector is just likely to get scratched up a lot easier than the phone would.

I appreciated his honesty.

Its not a case either. the sides, top and bottom are fully exposed, and it doesn't add any bulk to the phone

Naked means nothing and you are adding protection. I'm not saying what you are doing is wrong but you are not using your phone naked. Don't get why you disagree. Naked means zero protection and when you slap screen protectors on the front and back then your phone is not naked.

Go naked. Get AC+ if you worry. It's a NO BRAINER when you really stop and think about it.

TLDR on your rambling, but it's ironic that you call it a no brainer because you're clearly not thinking.

I understand time is worth nothing to a lot of you people, but I can't have any downtime with a broken phone. I don't have time to drive to the Apple store for a phone replacement or screen repair. I need to pick it up, dust it off, and move on with my life.

A lot of you think you're so careful and you wouldn't ever drop your phone, but you have no control over outside forces. By the same stupid logic, you should stop wearing your seat belt since you haven't yet needed one in a crash.

While true, it doesn't change the fact that you can easily and cheaply replace the screen protector, such as when you go to sell it, but you can't say the same about replacing the glass screen.

The 3GS is the obvious choice for a naked iPhone.

Videos that do face down drop tests are a waste of time. 9/10 times it will shatter.

Side drops are much more likely and that should have been the entire focus on the video. Or at least back drops too.

Since my iPhone 4s I have gone back and forth from using a case to no case with ac+.

I think this time with the 6plus , it just makes sense to protect an investment with a lot of glass! Not to mention the protruding camera on the back will eventually crack of the phone falls hard enough. It's a bad design, and this phone really does need a case as much as I hate to say it.

I haven't been through all 8 pages. But those using it naked, how does the apple logo stand up against scratching?

Been using my 6 naked since launch day, always in an empty pocket. I'm very careful with all my phones, but the 6 already has 2-3 superficial scratches on the screen, and just noticed yesterday, 2 small scratches on the apple logo as well... No drops, careful handling.
Not major, but previously it would take several months for these small scratches to appear, with the 6 it's happened within weeks.

The wife and I have never broken a screen in the last six years of iPhones and we've been pretty rough on them in the nude. Scuffs on the housing don't bother us and only one of our phones had actual scratches on the glass and not the coating. It took our son slamming it onto the tile floor and swirling it around to do that. If this screen breaks the first time I drop it though I'll grab an apple case after it's fixed. I was always amazed when I would pick up my phone expecting to see a cracked screen but I think that might finally happen with this phone.

Was 100% naked with the 5s but when I looked at how the case reacted to 3 falls during the last year decided that my 6 needed to have the brown leather case. I am sure that all will look better after a year of everyday use for work.

I wonder why more people don't use pouches? It offers some protection (mainly from whatever is in your pockets/bag) while transporting it around and you still get to use the phone naked. That's what I did with my 5, had a nice micro-suede lined leather pouch and after 2 years it was still as new - no chipping around the chamfered edge, no scratches on the screen or back. I probably obsess more over the care of my devices than most but it shouldn't be too hard to manage. Going the same route with my 6+, naked but with a pouch for carrying it around.

I use a pouch/sleeve for my iPad mini, but I personally find it too clumsy for a phone since you take it out so often. Plus, I think you're most likely to drop a phone when using it or taking it out/putting it away, and a pouch wouldn't really be any better than nothing in those situations.

Oh for sure. It's never going to replace something like an otterbox. But a lot of people in here seem to be going for very minimalist cases to try get as close to naked as possible - often only .3-.4mm thick. I don't think they offer any more than scratch protection either. I just think pouches are a good middleground, it probably does depend on how you use your phone though.

I've had iPhones since 2007 and I've dropped them all countless times. I've never owned a case and the screen has never shattered.

Only the last three months I' e had a case, and it's a Mophie which I need because of the nature of my job.

Not sure if its considered naked but mine is wrapped with icarbons for the rear protection and a glass SP.

I have a nice chip in the corner of the glass on mine.

Courtesy of slippery hands and a marble floor.

I rock my phones natural, love them naked

Im not a fan of cases personally, to each their own however.
