That piqued my interest for a bit but then I was thinking: “What could I possibly want to put on a watch that would even fill that?”

I barely even know what to do with the 16GB I already have on my S4 watch.

Some folks like to load up with tons of songs/playlists, audiobooks, podcasts, etc. Still, I agree it's a LOT of storage at this point. I do think that as the App Store evolves and ultimately includes a Face Store - which I believe it inevitable - we will appreciate extra storage.

For my part, I would *not* have upgraded from my S4 Hermes, except that with the SBSS Hermes I find myself extremely tempted...

So you're going to always have to actually tap the watch face to have it go fully on? That seems strange and adds another step.

If you raise your arm it won't go completely bright?

Not arguing, asking: why do you think this is the case?

EDIT: Did some research and this is not correct. Watch this video:

About 1:30 in he shows it switching from 'always on' to 'on' simply by raising his wrist. No need to tap.

I have always bought SS watches for the sapphire crystal for fear of scratching it. I’m considering buying an aluminum watch to see if my fears are warranted. I will keep my SS S4 though.

I will be. I purchased the Space Gray Aluminum Series 4 last fall. I loved the watch itself but I was in constant fear of the display getting scratched or damaged because of the Ion X glass. So I will be selling this one and going Series 5 Stainless Steel.
My Aluminium series 4 has a nasty scratch on the screen from a bump here and there. My previous Stainless steel Sapphire screen never scratched after much more use. That’s my lesson to never go with the ion X again. Think I’ll be upgrading.

The Ion-X Glass scratches easily. I didn’t care for it, once I upgrade to the stainless with the sapphire display, not one scratch on the display after coming in contact with multiple objects. Yes, it’s more expensive, but if you’re like me and you don’t like to see scratches on a smaller display, and there’s only one other option. (Unless, you prefer screen protectors.)

I doubt I will upgrade. I did from the 3-4 as I felt the improvements were worth it. I'm perfectly fine with my 4. Always on would be nice, though.

I upgraded for the always on, been waiting for that since the original Apple Watch and I am pretty excited for it. Worth it to me, but I can see why its not for most people.

As with the iPhone, I think a yearly upgrade cycle is for the most diehard Apple fans only. The cumulative changes over two years or more are easier to justify the expense.
I’ll be upgrading to series 5, but I’m torn between another SS or going with an aluminum Nike watch. The resale values are atrocious for SS, and I know I will upgrade again in two years.

This is exactly what I did. Not worth trading in. Now I will have a silver and a black one.

Yes! Depending on the occasion I can wear what matches better for it. I wear suits to work so the titanium will match way better for work and the SS black will be more casual wear.

I decided to upgrade from the Hermes S4. Might keep that for my gym watch and use the S5 for formal occasions.

I'm upgrading. At the end of the day it's a watch, and not being able to see the time all the time has caused me to wear other watches on occasions when it wasn't appropriate to activate the display whenever I needed to know the time. I also use it for swimming, and activating the display while swimming is more hit-or-miss than I expected. I've owned every version of the Watch, and thought I wouldn't really benefit from the larger display of the S4 (v S3), but it's made a huge difference in usability. I expect the same from the always-on display. Which is unfortunate as I was hoping to move completely to a 2-year upgrade cycle on both my phone (will upgrade from X to 11 Pro) and watch, and thought I'd keep the S4 for two years.

Not worth it from a 4 to a 5. Compass, meh, always on display ? What’s the point ? When I want the screen to be on when I look at it, it comes on. Waste of time.

I would like Apple to give us the option to leave the screen on during workouts. But now they won’t because they would rather you upgraded.

I would love the always on display but I think I‘ll stick with the S4 for another year ... unless the Titanium is overwhelmingly gorgeous IRL.
