I just ordered the Watch cuz my series 0 is really showing its age by now. Screen is leaking, battery has taken a big hit and I just want the bigger version.

The only downside is having to order the watch bands on AliExpress all over again

Are you upgrading to the 44mm from the old 38? Because the 38/40 and 42/44 all use the same size bands. Unless the Series 0 was its own size??

Me. I always upgrade. My daughter gets my year old device, and best friend gets daughter's 2 year old version. So, they are depending on me. LOL

Similar situation with phone. My daughter gets my year old phone, and I either sell or trade in her 2 year old version.

I promised my mom my Series 4 immediately after I bought it last year. I have a Series 4 aluminum but really wanted stainless steel. I wavered between getting a stainless series 4 on fire sale, but decided I’d rather have the new features and hold onto the series 5 for a couple years.

I decided to upgrade my series 4 40 aluminum to SS series 5 44 with Milanese band this time around.

I preordered from amazon since they currently have all series 5 SS models $50 off. Paid $749 tax free for me.

I just sold my S4 Aluminum for $300 and picked up a Mint SBSS S4 for $368

Nice. And you’ll appreciate the space black stainless, it has the protection of the DLC coating, (which Apple should market more), as it would sell this model given its durability to protect the casing. And don’t be alarmed with the band pairing, it’s fairly customizable with all different types of blues/browns and any other combination you want. Enjoy.

I saw some YouTuber saying that the S5 screen is better, that e.g. photos will look better on the S5. I understand the S5 needs a new screen to be able to go down to 1 Hz, but does stuff really look better on the S5? I don’t remember hearing it on the keynote

I am. I literally just was thinking while I was working out earlier how convenient it would be if the display was on so I could check my heart rate and time progress without flipping my wrist. No brainer for me.

How do you see the watch face without flipping your wrist???

just pre-ordered the series 5 nike edition. i had the series 4 version but it was just the regular one without the nike faces. really wanted the always on display for when im biking or at the gym. compass will also come in handy for hiking.

Our watch faces are often aimed at us, but not turned on, so one has to still move the wrist to turn on the screen. That will no longer be the case with Series 5.

x2. This happens while riding my motorcycle. The screen is off, and to get the watch screen to turn on, I either have to take my hand off, and do the rotation of the arm, or I have even had to reach across with my other hand to touch the screen.

Neither are ideal for a quick time check on a motorcycle. I was hoping Apple would include Always On via a software update for the S4, but knew that even if they could they would hold it back to sell a newer model.

So, I'm a sucker, I ordered S5 GSS to replace my S4GSS (that was in perfect condition).

If you're sitting resting your arm on a table but the screen has gone off. With the S5 that wouldn't happen and you could still just glance down and see the time.

Got it.. I was more or less asking about while working out.

For me while resting on a desk, a slight movement turns on display.. I’ve become an expert at discretely viewing the time. :p.. thus I’ll hold off till S6.

I ordered one, for 2 reasons:
1) I wanted to get a dark one, got tired of the silver aluminium
2) I don’t see how people think this is an “s” model, the always on is that much of a big deal to me... the one thing it always sucked really badly at was being a watch! Wrist movements/special contortions for your watch to show the time is ridiculous! That is the single reason I didn’t wear mine much at all! Tech needs to conform to us, not the other way around. So I happily ordered a space gray s5!

Thanks, your comment among others here have helped solidify my decision. I was on the fence about upgrading from my S2, but I'm going to do it mainly for the performance and I do want the always on screen.

If the performance was the only thing you got from upgrading I’m sure you would love it anyway - but add to that the big display, altimeter (if you’re a runner like me) and the now always on - I think you will be amazed by how much of an upgrade this is

Not me. It has the same processor as the Watch S4 and I feel like this should have been Watch S4.5 instead of Watch S5.

I’m making my decision if I want the ceramic model this year, but it’s not cheap, I am very particular with {materials/colors/aesthetics}, and I’ve heard nothing but good things about the ceramic edition. Aside from that, I don’t want the aluminum, because it doesn’t offer the sapphire display, so that’s out, otherwise I might just opt for the stainless space black [I’m a huge fan of the DLC coating on the casing], but I’m kind of disappointed Apple didn’t bring back the ‘gray ceramic’ versus offering only offering the white ceramic this year. But then again, I’m not opposed to not purchasing the white ceramic either, as that would be a new color variant for me.
