Hopefully you will have Apple Pay in the UK soon.

As far as the big spender, it's ramen noodles and off-brand soda for me because I splurged on a new Phone ;)

I kept my 5s too. I always wanted a second line and the 5s is too beautiful to sell.

True, in terms of hardware looks (not hardware performance of course), the 5s will always be the best iPhone ever made. It looks so good.

Doing my backup tonight so I can install the update as soon as it's available. Bring on my Apple Pay!

Sort of new ish to Apple (had an iPhone years ago) and getting my 6+ delivered today. Is there a consensus on the best way to update the firmware? Do you just update on top of your old firmware or is it considered better to do a complete restore of the phone first?

Just update on top of the existing firmware. But do a backup through iTunes or iCloud first.

If you're not in a rush, update through iTunes and not OTA... Most issues in the past derived from OTA updates...

iTunes update kicked my phone into recovery mode last time due to "an unknown issue". OTA never broke anything.

That was issue with the update itself, not the way it was delivered on the phone.

point was people who updated through iTunes didn't have that problem... look it up, most update issues happened through OTA's... theres nothing wrong with updating through iTunes, just to be safe...

With iPhone 6? Because with 5/5s no one had problems despite the way it was updated. I personally think it has no difference how you update.

That's about 6pm UK time.

I'll be waiting until Tuesday. Mainly because the update servers get hammered which means my phone can't be used whether the update bricks it or not... so I'll wait a day at least. :p

Best post I've ever seen on this forum.

Confirmed.

Is it better to just update through itunes or restore and update? I'm on iPhone 6 Plus, I just want this laggyness gone asap.

I will be updating my iPhone 6 OTA, probably tomorrow (Tue) once all the hysteria has died down!

I also have a seriously laggy and slow (thanks to iOS 8 in general) iPad 2, currently sitting on iOS 8.0.2, which I updated OTA. Gonna update to 8.1 via iTunes this time hoping it will cure all my issues (stuttery and very slow animations - even when the animation option is turned off, very slow safari browser, apps takes longer than normal to open & close, blank icons on homescreen for links which were 'added to homesceen' pre-iOS 8, slow responsiveness from touch screen (tapping an icon gets a response 4 seconds later)) the list goes on.........

Please let it be so...................!!!!

I will update as soon as I get home tonight, with the same hopes of improving the "seriously laggy and slow" performance on my Ipad2 & 3 since the release of ios8.

I will. Hopefully HealthKit is actually working in this version. I'm ready to use it.

It's supposed to be working in 8.0.2 (aside from the noted blood glucose unit conversion issue). Without apps that use it there's not a lot to do, though.

I'm definitely installing 8.1 rightaway. It can't be worse than 8.0.2, can it … ?

The problem with it in 8.0.2 is that it randomly just blanks out all the data in your dashboard sometimes. So it might work for a few days and then it might start back showing the data for a day, then blank out again. So it's still pretty unreliable in current form.

I'm upgrading all my devices right when it releases. I am hoping that 8.0.1 is the anomaly and not the new norm.
