Like i have said before. It looks to cartoony. Not really something you would think would come from apple. Maybe if you had the option to go with a light or darker theme? It is too colorful. It is like they went from one extreme to another. Maybe by the time the final version comes out, they will tone down the colorful theme. But we would have to wait. And i agree it looks too much like android.

The idea to me is if your going to change the way the os looks. You will come up with something that is going to differentiate yourself. Not make it seem like your running a bad launcher theme on an android phone.

But like i said before, the functionality is great! I just wish you could somehow tone down the colorful themed os it has.

Its very wallpaper dependent. It takes the color from your wallpaper. Use a dark wallpaper and it looks darker. I have never seen a flat pastel cartoon. It looks really good on my white iphone. I think on a black iphone it might not look as good.

That depends on your wallpaper. If you have a more dark, austere wallpaper, the theme will change to match...

Couldn't have said it better, and I think that where's Apple really missed the mark. Instead of really coming out with something to set themselves ahead of the pack again, they took the easy way out and just mashed a bunch of stuff together from Android and WP and called it a day. Unfortunately, with the firing of Forstall and the hiring of Ives there was no way they would have the time to come up with anything other than what they did.

It's why I applaud Microsoft for taking the time to realize how far behind WinMo was and coming out with WP7; they easily could have made another Android or Apple clone but they really surprised me with their take on mobile computing. iOS 7 is nothing more than change for the sake of change because they realize that they are falling further behind the pack with each day.

If you haven't actually used the OS then I don't see why you would comment about the os.

Ive heard plenty of Apple fans comment on Windows Phone without ever using it, I've read enough today about iOS 7 to at least gather some opinions. I'm definitely not alone in my worries about where Apple is headed.

I feel as if today has been a dream. What is up with the neon color scheme? Let's be honest - it's too harsh and ****s with the eyes. It looks like an inverted color scheme in the accessibility settings. All of the flatness and transparency scream cheap, childish and feminine. It is everything I hate in design rolled up in one. I like the functionality but, just no to the design. I will not stare at those icons, and I'll run iOS 6 as long as possible.

That still isn't a smart thing to do. I would never comment on brain surgery or ferrari's engine management system as I am not familiar with either. I have seen it on tv though.

Just using the beta for like an hour and it's not for me. I really was hesitant to switch over to an iPhone, but even at first when I wasn't sure, it just felt like a hell of an awesome device. Like comparing iOS 7 on an iPhone to iOS 6 on the iPad and it's not much of a contest as far as visual appeal for me goes. This feels just out of place for me, there's not that same sense of awesome picking the thing up.

It belongs on a phone made out of plastic.

Well, I used it for the last 6 hours and at this point I'm not sure if this was a good move on Apple's part....

It might be a tad to minimalistic for most people. As of now I like the look of Windows Phone & Android 4.2 better. But of course that can change.....

Looks like I'm not alone.

The design of iOS 7: simply confusing
The new iOS is better and worse all at once

I find it amusing that prior to WWDC there were all these comments and articles about how iOS needs to be more than just a re-skin, it needs to be about functionality not just putting a fresh coat of paint on the UI. Now that iOS 7 has been revealed and its clearly not just a re-skin - lots of new functionality has been added - some of the same complainers/haters are whining about the app icons being ugly. Or putting polls up on their site asking if people like the new design. So people claim that its about functionality not design, yet the first thing they b**ch about is design.

Quite honestly I'm blown away by what they were all able to do in basically 6 months. Seeing the complete UI overhaul I think it's pretty safe to say the rumors of everything prior to Forstall being fired were scrapped is probably true. I'd say for Ive's first foray in to software design he did a pretty damn good job. And as he said in the iOS 7 video this is the beginning. I think it will only get better over time.

For anyone worried about iOS7 having too much pastels, and not being "professional", take a look at it with a muted wallpaper:

Its like a chameleon. I love it!

What I've concluded is that iOS 7 is definitely impressive and I can't wait to get my hands on it. There are a few things that need slight tweaking here and there but that is expected to be fixed later as the current version of the OS is the first beta of them all.
I'm satisfied overall. Although, I'll be following all the beta releases very closely.
OSX Maverick was good except the name -_- , iOS7 is a game changer and the new Macs are crazy (The Mac Pro is out of this world and 12 hour battery on the air!)

2013 is definitely going to be a fun year for Apple because there's iPods, the next iPhone and the Pro family still to be updated.

It really is interesting / amazing how much the "mood" seems to change with a mere wallpaper swap. Such an intriguing way to get around themes while still allowing the user to choose his/her own style and feel. This, and the slight three-dimensional characteristic of the background are cool little touches that will help set iOS apart.

Dock Bar

I just want to remove that dockbar, I can live with the rest of it, cartoony icons and pastel over the top blur but that dock really ruins the background wallpaper for me. Jony allow us to REMOVE it from settings!

Quite frankly, iOS 7's design is disappointing. Not only do the icons look amateurish, but so do all the native apps. If I didn't know any better I'd think it was designed by a 13 year old who only had a month's worth of experience.

Now, I know, instinctually, fans go on the offensive and believe that anyone who says anything negative about Apple is just trolling or a "hatter" but believe me when I say that's not the case. This is a thread asking why there's hate against iOS 7, and I'm just expressing MY OPINION.

I still believe Apple has the best desktop OS but now I'm not so sure about the mobile OS. The only benefits I saw about iOS before was the diverse/extensive collection of apps available for the platform and Apple's ecosystem (iTunes, iCloud). That, to me, made sticking with the OS worth it but now… the horrible design outweighs the pros.

I'll wait until the GM is available, but my next phone will probably run Windows Phone 8 or be a Nexus branded phone. How sad...

Also, I'm an iOS developer, so yes, I've used iOS 7.

PS: I expected iOS 7 to look like some of the concepts in this page.

Oh and I have no idea why the back/delete button on the phone app is at the top right, so basically you cant dial a number using one hand if you made a mistake and want to retype it! Simply Retarded..

All this hate ? Apple must have another hit on their hands.

I don't care what it looks like, I only care about all the functionality they added. The control center was enough for me. The notification center is a major bonus. The ability to search the entire phone from anywhere is epic.

I, personally love iOS7. Never been so excited about a mobile OS...
I think Android and iOS are for different people and different markets. One is not better than the other. iOS 'was' lagging behind but now, I can't wait to download it!
What do you guys think? I'm thinking stock price rebound in a few days and to me, WWDC 2013 really put Apple back on the forefronts of innovation, like it used to be.
I think this quote says it all about the current situation...
"There's no chance that the iPhone is going to get any significant market share. No chance!" - Steve Ballmer in 2008

I really wanna know what y'all think.

I really like iOS 7 aswell. People are just gonna complain just to complain. Not everyone is gonna be happy.

It doesn't look as 'professional' as previous versions.

It's a big mess of vibrant colors and light new modern things taking over a previous stately, composed, relaxed, broken in UI.

It's a ****ton to take in all at once.
