I, personally love iOS7. Never been so excited about a mobile OS...
I think Android and iOS are for different people and different markets. One is not better than the other. iOS 'was' lagging behind but now, I can't wait to download it!
What do you guys think? I'm thinking stock price rebound in a few days and to me, WWDC 2013 really put Apple back on the forefronts of innovation, like it used to be.
I think this quote says it all about the current situation...
"There's no chance that the iPhone is going to get any significant market share. No chance!" - Steve Ballmer in 2008

I really wanna know what y'all think.
I think the other thing I forgot to mention was the old icons made the screen pop with the retina display. Now with the flat icons, it kind of makes it seem pointless to have that retina display. Meaning you would want an os to accentuate the display. Make it look like wow! This theme and icon set really doesn't make the retina display stand out.

All this hate ? Apple must have another hit on their hands.

I don't care what it looks like, I only care about all the functionality they added. The control center was enough for me. The notification center is a major bonus. The ability to search the entire phone from anywhere is epic.

what it looks like plays into how it functions. the design will help or hinder how it works.

I was referring to the shapes and colors of icons. I don't care what color they are or what they look like.

A black/green/yellow icon is just a icon to me.

Air drop is pretty cool no need to bump your phone and risk dropping it. lol ok now I can share my pics with the world because god knows texting the pic or posting it on twitter Facebook Instagram etc...... is way to much work. Aside from that the new os does look cool and ads some good functionality. Would be nice to see what features the 4 and 4s get. I would assume the 5 will get all the features. Though maybe I shouldn't assume you know what happens when you assume.

Apple, by far was really the front runner to make beautiful designs and extremely simple to use them that hardly anyone would need a manual.

The iOS7 design..maybe its simplistic..but its surely not very pleasing.
some of the screenshots i've seen, if they are actual screens, they are ugly at best.

its like Nintendo Wii games graphics compared with PS3 and XBox.
Wii took the gaming industry by storm but lost it..i feel similar fate with iOS devices too.

i don't like andriod or windows either..so looks like its time for me to consider thinking of non-smart phone like Nokia ...

Cult of Mac podcast totally trashed iOS 7. Even though one of the bloggers had only downloaded the beta 5 minutes prior to taping. Seems a bit unfair to judge without having spent any time with it or just based on app icons. I'm not crazy about some of the app icons but I think people are going a bit overboard calling them hideous, atrocious etc. While I think they could be better (and might change), I don't thunk they're that bad.

Yep people whined about functionality and now they've got more functionality they complain about the design of app icons.

I don't hate the OS, but the UI of iOS7 is terrible design in my opinion. Here is flat done right:

I disagree... I really do not understand why everyone is getting paranoid about "flat" and "minimal" design...

its like color is your enemy, or anything that creates some kind of texture is suddenly unpleseant and bad...

By following this logic, soon people are going to be asking for grayscale iOS devoid of any kind o color... what are we going? Back to the 80's? Why is minimalistic suddenly considered the norm, or the trend?

I seriously do not understand this. We used to brag about how many colors a mobile phone display could support, only to just hate colors 10 years later...

SMH...

Weak minded people are scared to open their mind to change. I like the re-design. It looks great and I can't wait to get it on my iPhone when it publicly releases.

Complainers will always find something to complain about. They have nothing better to do. It's sad, really.

Thats not entirely true! I was excited for this change, and although I dont hate it (like I did when I first seen it) I dont love it either. I think that I was expecting something different. But thats the problem, when you expect something different you will be disappointed. To me...I think that some of the concepts look very plain! You can have simplicity that doesnt look that plain!

I do love the block feature, the parallax feature (even though I cant get it on my phone right now), multi-tasking and photos. But thats about it!

It looks like my Windows Phone. Especially the new Multitasking. For a company that has spent the last few years going 'thermonuclear' on companies that copy ideas, I find this to be highly hypocritical of Apple and I hope both Microsoft and Google come down hard upon them.

And seriously... them icons just look terrible.

You've clearly not used Android recently.

I guess the hate is because there wasn't much that was new - it was mostly catch-up to Android. I honestly can't believe you guys didn't get a Swype-esque keyboard - that sucks.

Jellybean still lags... It lags on my Nexus 7, and my brother returned his S4 six days after he got it because of the lag. Lag is one of the many reasons why I won't be getting another Android device any time soon.

Also, coming from a company that revolutionized the smart phone (actually created the smart phone), I expected more yes! I will always stick with apple though regardless.

I don't personally understand why you were expecting more? Or what, exactly were you expecting more. Yes, there are a couple of features we didn't get, namely widgets and keyboard APIs but other than that, it's perfection...
The rough edges with a few icons artworks and a few other (completely fix-able) issues will probably be resolved by the time the GM is out...

Well, I used it for the last 6 hours and at this point I'm not sure if this was a good move on Apple's part....

Ok, this morning I did a side by side comparison between every stock app on IOS6 & IOS7 and I must say I do like the new IOS better on each.

So, besides minor complaints about some icons etc. I revise my earlier statement to it is definitely an improvement for me.....

It sucks. It's turned into an old woman's OS. The ladies will love it.

My wife who is 28 will love it I'm sure. She is really into that sort of color and design scheme. I didn't particularly like the new design, but after seeing it in motion, I am all over it. Looking forward to updating when possible.

I am not sure why people keep trying to say that Android is not like that anymore. It has been and continues to be slow and sluggish. It's just designed that way due to all of what it does. It's not bad if you like all the bells and whistles, but many don't.

What would you have liked to have seen brought to iOS 7?

I keep seeing people being very vocal in terms of expectation but no clue what it was that they were expecting. There is only so many things you can do on a phone and I think Apple have brought something a little more streamlined with all the important needs catered for. Just my opinion though, I like the present version.

I think there is a break in the design that spoils it. The stylisch minimalistc (very gorgeous) design like Calendar doesn't go well with those playful colours and heavy gradients.

It's really hard to make a good minimalistic design, and they did it really well for the most part. But... why those lollypop cartoon icons? Also mixing circles, rounded corners and edgy stuff kinda feels wrong.

They surely want to implement their own desing language which ist the right way, but at this time it makes a rather messy impression.

Tried swype and didn't like it, so I don't want one.

That's the beauty of opinions though: everyone has one!

It's a great and long overdue change. I am fed up with the bulbous Fisher Price colouring of iOS and happy to see a fresh pastel element. It's a breath of fresh air that will boost sales big time.

And what's wrong with being whiny? It's wrong to want things to be improved?

I am disapponted with iOS 7 for several reasons:

1) The style is childish, icons don't produce any confidence that it's a high class professional product.

2) I expected some crucially lacking features to be added, for example widget-style information display (it IS tremendously useful), or humane way to work with documents, i.e. move them to/from device and between apps. AirDrop is cool but works only with Apple devices which makes it useless for corporate environment.

3) Still tons of marasmic, ridiculous restrictions concerning OS customization. What if instead of ****** Apple's calculator I use a different one? Then no, you can't have easy access to it from control center. What if I set up a timer, I want to see it count down on lock screen? No, developers are prohibited from putting useful information on lock screen. Etc, etc, it just drives me mad that they hinder user experience while arguing that they do it for better user experience.

I really want to use Apple devices, because they have the passion to make the best products. But currently this passion sleeps and something needs to awaken it.

Well..its really hard to say exactly what considering I dont have a creative bone in my body and apple has always "wowed" us in the past. I think a lot of people are kind of surprised to get this sort of OS. Im not saying that it is bad..read some of my other posts and you will see that I do like some of the features..but maybe the color scheme and "flatness" I can do without! It reminds me of a cheap android phone now!

Your idea of perfection is not everyones! Also widgets? Cmon if you want an android than go buy an android!

I personally really like iOS 7. I've had an iPhone since iOS 2 and have experienced its growing pains. It wasn't too long ago we didn't have copy/paste, open in..., MMS, Safari could download files. That said, iOS seems to have always been playing catch-up. Each iOS has been about 2 years behind the industry standards.

However, I think Apple is trying to surpass the standards with iOS 7. With 1 update, Apple basically has gone through all the Android/JB features it has been missing and added them. No more pissing around with nothing updates (like iOS 6 was). I think we are finally seeing the beginning of a real mobile OS. I would never have said this before, but I think we'll actually see a real file system in our future.
