Your idea of perfection is not everyones! Also widgets? Cmon if you want an android than go buy an android!

Yup, there were a couple of pictures where I couldn't believe how much it looks like Android 4.1/4.2 on the Galaxy Nexus I used to have.
(And considering I feel that ios6 is progress compared with Icecream/Jellybean this is a major step backwards...)

They even changed the swipe to unlock thingy for no good reason, and it looks more like Androids unlock widget now.

Stuff like that just baffles me and pisses me off. Apples whole ethos is to think through their designs, and not change things without a good reason. And I just can't see any reason to change the swipe widget besides just "making it look new/different".

There are so many things in ios7 that are like that. Meaningless change or regressions.

It looks nothing like android......nothing. If anything it borrowed cues from WP8.

You've clearly not used Android recently.

I guess the hate is because there wasn't much that was new - it was mostly catch-up to Android. I honestly can't believe you guys didn't get a Swype-esque keyboard - that sucks.

I have had all iterations of the iPhone and recently had a android phone running jelly bean and I went back iOS 6 over jelly bean. I really didn't think it had any superiority over iOS 6. I'm thrilled with the changes iOS 7 appears to be bringing. Could they have done a few more things... Sure... But what I saw from the keynote is certainly enough to keep me loyal to Apple.

Wow that looks wonderful!

Steve Jobs must be rolling in his grave when Microsoft finally beats Apple in design cues.

There sure a a lot of whiny people in this forum.

Just because people have a different opinion doesn't make them whiny. Maybe some people just don't like the new OS, not like Apple pisses excellence regardless of what they do. It's the smug attitude that exudes from some Apple fans that turns them away from the products.

Not its just whining. Lots and lots of whining. Regardless of what happened yesterday people still would have whined. Its in their nature to whine about everything and anything.

Guess you just want everyone to heap praise on iOS 7 and call it the best thing since the internet? What's the point of a forum if everyone who doesn't like something is supposed to shut their mouth...

I love the new design. A real improvement IMHO. Some icons could use tweaking but all an icon does is give me a door into an app. I'm not going to stress over how some icon doesn't look quite right. I'll be staring at my emails or calendar or the app I am using, I won't be spending any time stating at a screen full of icons. Roll on the release, this to me is a great update.

I disagree. While not exactly identical in looks there are things that are close enough. Apple has sued for less lol. In function I'm finding it intuitive from using Android in the past (still occasionally).

Overall I like what they've done. But I couldn't help from laugh when I pulled up the multitasking tray or just looked at the lock screen. Btw I actually hope by GM they make the multi tasking more like Android and put the app previews horizontal. It's a much more effective use of screen space. I think they've done it this way just so its not even more like Android.

Overall I'm loving it compared to iOS 6. I only started using iOS at 4 but this is a good upgrade IMO!

Or they will be dumped in a folder! :)

It doesn't so much remind me of Android as it reminds me of *Google*. Google maps, Gmail, all of that software, the same sort of flat look and icons. I do prefer Apple's take on it, tbh, but prior versions of iOS had a friendlier feel, somehow.

Also, as an aside, the amount of white space makes me worry for people who have sensitivities, etc... A lot of white space can make it harder on the eyes, but so far I've only tried it on my old 4 and not a 5, so I don't know if the adjustments that people keep mentioning the software does will mean that it's not as harsh as it seems to be so far.

I, personally love iOS7. Never been so excited about a mobile OS...
I think Android and iOS are for different people and different markets. One is not better than the other. iOS 'was' lagging behind but now, I can't wait to download it!
What do you guys think? I'm thinking stock price rebound in a few days and to me, WWDC 2013 really put Apple back on the forefronts of innovation, like it used to be.
I think this quote says it all about the current situation...
"There's no chance that the iPhone is going to get any significant market share. No chance!" - Steve Ballmer in 2008

I really wanna know what y'all think.

1. Have you downloaded and used it yet? Marketing videos make everything look great. I love iOS7 too, but I wouldn't judge it until I've used it. A lot of the advertised features get old really quick, and there are definitely questionable design elements (dialer, messages app)

2. iOS7 is not going to rebound Apple's stock. No one on wall street cares about new icons. They care about new product lines-->$$$. Without any intro of a new iPad, iPhone 5s, Apple TV, Apple iWatch, etc.; the stock dropped from 450 to about 438. They don't about the mac pro either since that is such a small percentage of their sales; despite being a revolutionary and cool design.

I feel you though. I like it, and I hope Apple's stock price increases (I'm a shareholder). But nothing Apple is doing is helping except for the share buyback program and dividends changes.

I'm afraid Apple has nothing in the pipeline that is going to dazzle us like the iphone and ipad. The TV and watch (if they ever come to fruition) won't nearly have the same impact.

Wow that looks wonderful!

Yeah the icons could have been better. Safari's in particular is hideous IMO.

I appreciate the majority of changes made to the OS, but the icons are not one.

Also, the main screen on Game Center still looks gaudy IMO. Too bright. And the white all over is hard on the eyes. Just feels poorly balanced.

It looks like my Windows Phone. Especially the new Multitasking. For a company that has spent the last few years going 'thermonuclear' on companies that copy ideas, I find this to be highly hypocritical of Apple and I hope both Microsoft and Google come down hard upon them.

And seriously... them icons just look terrible.

I've had 2 Windows Phones,I've been using Beta 1 since last night..... It looks or behaves nothing like a Windows Phone, get a grip folks . It's a lot to take in but there's some awesome stuff here,I like it !

Well..its really hard to say exactly what considering I dont have a creative bone in my body and apple has always "wowed" us in the past. I think a lot of people are kind of surprised to get this sort of OS. Im not saying that it is bad..read some of my other posts and you will see that I do like some of the features..but maybe the color scheme and "flatness" I can do without! It reminds me of a cheap android phone now!

Haha Touché! I love iOS7... My post was meant to justify that :D

Time for some iPhone+iPad magic later to bump the stock price up...

One thing that I don't understand is the lack of updated MacBook Pros...
Yes, I know I'm completely out of context of the thread but seriously why?

I like iOS 7 in general but the icons are just hideous. Especially the Safari icon, wow that is terrible. Hopefully they'll change it by GM.
After using iOS 7 for a short time now, there's some nice features.

But like you, I do find the icons rather bizarre and out of place. Like Safari, the Clock icon seems as though it was designed by someone who just didn't have a sense of proportion.

There's hardly any border, the circular portion is too large for the overall size, and the pastel colors on the others are just downright strange. What were they thinking? With all that talent, the end result is rather cheap looking.

Or maybe it was a desire to differentiate themselves from Android. Who knows, it's done now.

The problem is not whether these icons are ugly or not... The main problem is the entire UI feels like it is designed for little kids and teenage girls...

That would be a problem if only men bought iPhones. Too bad I see more teenage girls and little kids with them than anything else.
