Don't you guys have consumer rights laws in HK?
We do and that is what puzzles me. I don't want to be the only one to take action. If others have no issues then what can I do?

I understand Apple had some problem wirh some locals returning phones with fake or 3rd party parts but why should everyone suffer due to some silly people? It is not fair.

I just don't understand why accessories can't be returned. I believe it has something to do with copy accessories from China. Again everyone suffers due to some silly People.

Apple needs to work something out to be fair to genuine customers.

Ah, I see. I returned an iPhone once to a store in the US, and they took it to the back to open it up to see if I had switched any parts out. lol. It was the first time they had done that to me. Not sure what triggered it.

I was told by the sales in HK that it happened many times to them in the year iPhone 6s released. They started by not taking returns in HK for iPhones last year. This year they added all other items in their store.

May be Apple will stop taking returns in the US and other counties soon? It is possible.

Thanks for showing the comparison op. The width on the X is terrible compared to the Plus. The Pus actually fits the final paragraph in its entirety whereas the X doesn't. And let's not talk about the notch.

I tried to explain on here that the X is actually less of a screen size than the Plus in real term use, but people got sucked in by the spec size.

Now people might actually get it.

I'm returning. I purchase just to test it really. Its not that I don't like it. I am satisfied with my 7 Plus. This option saves me $$.

Yea I’m testing it right now and taking advantage of Apple’s 14 day return. I like the X but like you I’m satisfied with my 7. The price doesn’t justify to ‘upgrade’ and I’ve upgraded every single release. The X doesn’t ‘wow’ me like I thought it would.

One thing that bugs me is why couldn’t Apple include a fast charger out of the box instead of a lousy 5V brick or at least an iPad charger?

The liberty that the people in the US gets in product returns is amazing. No electronic items can be returned easily in HK.

What if the people in US not able to return My products? Would there be a big demand and long lines to buy the products???

Silver 256gb model returned for scratch on bezel and very slightly raised glass back on one corner. Display was slightly pissy yellow off axis.

SG 256gb maybe returned this week. Build quality is flawless but not happy with the display. Looks too yellow at one angle, too red on another. It's really messing with eyes and does not make me feel the price is justified when the main feature is the screen!

Also glass backs seem to make my skin sweat. Nice.....

IPhone X Plus will have LCD screen and it is not really a big upgrade.

No, it won't. The iPhone X Plus size will be an OLED panel. Apple is migrating away from LCD and ultimately will have their entire lineup consist of all OLED panels, given that they can get past yield rates with OLED
Manufacturing. And you mentioned in another post you thought the iPhone X plus would be offered in April 2018, which that will not also happen. It will be Announced in September.

Dont even bother. I returned my X yesterday; spent the whole weekend with the X and was annoyed.

If its not for you, just return it. No need to argue with anyone on here about it.

I hope you are right after Spending $1500 For the iPhone X doubt people will want to spend another $1500 so soon.

The nail in the coffin however is this:

“At any level of brightness, modulation with a frequency of approximately 60 or 240 Hz is present.”

I’ll take a slight hit on color gamut, accuracy, contrast and black levels over PWM any day of the week. Thankfully, I got the 8+. This could be a dealbreaker if they introduce a X+ next year and they don’t fix or improve on the PWM. I’d have to buy one and try it for a week at least to see how much it affects me. I know it can make my eyes crazy tired on larger displays, but it might not be so bad on a smaller display which I use for shorter periods of time. Thankfully it doesn’t give me a headache or anything.

Still don't get why Apple has no return policy in HK.

really?
i didn't know that.

are you for real or is a joke flying over my head right now?

It's real. I came to know this when I wanted to return my Apple Leather Case which I just received. They said since Aug 2017 they have no return policy for all items.

You buy it, you keep it.

Apple should treat all customers same worldwide but they aren't.
So when I went and bought my 7 Plus in HK last year, I spoke to one of the staff there while waiting in line. He informed me there was no longer any return policy, so it'd be best if my girlfriend and I checked our phones for problems prior to leaving the store, otherwise we'd essentially be subject to warranty only and they wouldn't be able to do anything for us.

He told me the reason for that was mainly the scalpers. One person could potentially come in with 50 iPhones and want to return them. You'd have to have people in the back open up all the boxes to make sure everything is intact and the phones haven't been switched out with fakes, the boxes filled with rocks or crap to approximate the weight and other **** like that. Plus, since the boxes were opened, you really couldn't sell those phones as new again.

Basically, it seemed like a case where a few bad apples (no pun intended) ruined something for everyone else. It majorly sucks but I'm not sure if there's anything that can be done about it.

I tried the iPhone X at the Apple store. Sure the screen looks amazing but functionally it doesn’t add anything extra to my iPhone 7 Plus.

Face ID I am not too keen on. It’s a bit of a gimmick to be honest.

Faster processor etc - iPhone 7 Plus runs fast! So maybe for another 1-2 years no upgrade needed.

Wireless charging has extra costs. Plus how long does it take to plug it into an iPad charger aka old school fast charging lol.

The price is super high to be honest. Plus Apple care etc is not worth it anymore in terms of the two it would cost nearly $2k CAD

Animoji is a super gimmick. Nice for 5 mins then meh.

It is not necessary to buy every new phone that Apple releases. I feel some are buying the iphone X just because of the hype.

Lucky that you guys can return your phones within 14 days. Just imagine if you didn't have the liberty.

iPhone 7 Plus upgraded to iPhone X. Not a problem here other than the obvious issues with AMOLED viewing angles, but that's been known for over a decade. Honestly, I prefer IPS-LCD over LED, that's my only issue.
Otherwise, it is wonderful not to have to be messing with the brightness all the damn time!!!

X is perfect. When I got my first iPhone 2G 10 years ago, this is what I sort of imagined (a full screen phone)

Yesterday I was 60% sure I was returning my X for an 8+ or just go back to my 7+. Today I'd say 75%. The narrow screen, narrow keyboard, wasted screen real estate, much higher price tag just don't have me sold. This is the first upgrade I've done where I haven't been totally confident in the device. Maybe I have bad eye sight, but I can barely tell a difference between the display on my X and my 7+ also.

People in the US are lucky. You can return your phones.

In Hong Kong Apple has no return policy for everything. Even an Apple Case (Not Opened) can't be returned.

You buy it and you have to deal with it according to Apple.
It’s due to the thousand of scammers who have tried to return devices with swapped out inferior parts. Sadly, some idiots think it’s ok to try to scam Apple and make the million(s) of others pay for it.

Yes. It is Sad that genuine customers have to suffer due to some silly people.

I feel the price being so high many people are trying hard to justify keeping it.

If the price of the phone was less than $1000 then not many will think about returning it.

In HK people are either buying them to resell or Just using for themselves.

So I really really wanted to like it because of the claim that it fits a Plus screen in a vanilla size. I guess technically that's correct, but...

Also, Face ID sucks.

How bout you guys‽‽‽
Can someone elaborate on the modulation issue? I have always had the Plus.. have 8 Pus now.. I don’t get headaches but have seen concerns over modulation.

My eyes are OK.. and I spent about an hour comparing the 8+ and X side by side and could not see a significant improvement in the screen with the X. Maybe some blacks were darker.. I din’t really see it and on screens, photos, etc.. I didn’t really see a difference.

Returning mine this week. I came from an iPhone 7 Plus. I thought I would be okay with the narrower screen, but I'm not. It does fit in my hand better, but my eyes aren't what they used to be and I find myself with eyestrain trying to read the smaller text.

Also, and I can't believe I am saying this, but the notch and rounded corners are driving me crazy. All this screen length and it's all chopped up. It may be possible to have edge to edge screens, but it doesn't appear to be very practical.

While I do understand some of you are happy with your X and will be keeping it, I had hoped the thread would focus more on those returning it and why.

I'm going all in with the 8 Plus!

I returned my X the same (launch) day. Disappointed, as I was excited for it. It’s an upgrade path more from the non-plus sizes than the actual 7 Plus, imo. The screen is/was what I was most excited about but, while nice, it doesn’t overcome the negatives:
No home screen landscape mode; Face ID does not work well unless directly in front of your face, i.e. on desk or in different orientation; the annoying app switcher pause to bring up and another pause to hold so I can close app (not always necessary but really, didn’t they try this on the iPad and change it back? For a phone built around swiping why change intuitive and familiar gestures like this?).
Touch ID just works for me much better than Face ID. People saying it’s faster I can’t understand; I tried it, and while it’s fast under optimal conditions, it’s still beat by Touch ID almost every time (pulling from my pocket it can be unlocked before I even see the screen!). And battery life is better than 7 but, again, coming from the 7 Plus it was very meh. Same for screen size; didn’t feel bigger than the Plus, and is narrower, plus the odd notch effect takes something away I feel.
It ran warm for me but I don’t know if it was going to be an issue. The notch doesn’t bother me in portrait mode but in landscape it’s weird. I can’t speak to the screen refresh flickering, I didn’t notice it.
So yeah, returned the X, 8 Plus for me.
Screen was pretty though :-/
