I'm returning my X tomorrow. I'm just too engrained in the Plus sized phones. I use my 7+ as an iPad replacement quite a bit. I've noticed I'm reaching for my iPad a lot more now since I switched to the X.

So I bought the X space grey 256GB model and returned it a few days later. It really is a fantastic piece of hardware. I thought Face ID implementation is excellent and almost seamless. I can totally see how this will replace Touch ID moving forward. The X's screen was fantastic but despite the fact that it is bigger on the diagonal than an 7/8 Plus model it still is smaller in total surface area and it is noticeable. It also seems that this will be the smaller screen size moving forward i.e next year there will be a larger screen model in the X lineup. I loved the phone, but this is first time I felt the price they are asking for the phone is not justified. Sure if you live in the US and have access to the upgrade program or the purchase program and you can space out the payments at 0% then it doesn't feel like much of a price difference. However, here in Canada we have to pay full price up front or sign a carrier contract with inflated monthly cellular costs in order to spread out the cost of the phone. So while I think the X is a fantastic phone, I have decided to skip this year and hope that the price of the tech will come down next year. Enjoy your X everyone. Fantastic device!

I’ve had many iPhones since 2009. The X is the first that I felt was a step back or compromise for me. Too bad too, i was excited for it.

That's how I was. I really wanted to like it, but almost immediately I had reservations about it's size. After upgrades from pretty much the 4 on, I never had a single reservation about the switch until this time. I was going to exchange it for an 8+ but I think at this point I'm just going to go back to my 7+. 128gb is a good spot for me. 64 is too small and 256 is more than necessary. A few friends think I'm nuts, but none of them have ever had a Plus model.

I returned mine for 2 reasons:

- screen and overall size too small as compared to my 7+. I knew that prior but I was hoping I could adapt.

- screen quality was (to my eyes) no better than the 7+

I hope the next X has a + version with no notch. I will buy.

Not going to return mine. I haven't noticed the battery drain, in fact I feel my battery has overall done better than my 7+ was doing. I will admit that it feels very underwhelming coming form "plus" devices so that took a day to get used to.

It is not necessary to buy every new phone that Apple releases. I feel some are buying the iphone X just because of the hype.

Lucky that you guys can return your phones within 14 days. Just imagine if you didn't have the liberty.
While I sympathize with your plight, is your reiteration every other post necessary? This thread is for people returning the X, not people who have no returning abilities in their country

You paid for it, knowing the price up front, then returned it because it was too expensive??

I have been on the fence all week but I am 95% sure I will be returning it to Apple tomorrow. Originally I had no plans to go to the X as all you heard was how constrained and expensive it would be. My oldest needed a new phone so I went 8Plus 256gb and passed down my 6sPlus 64gb to him. Then the wife's Note 4 started acting up so talked her into the 8Plus and when I saw the X was still available last Saturday, reserved a 256gb for pickup at Apple.

Having come from Samsung Note series back to the Apple and the 6sPlus, I always missed the OLED displays. There is just something missing on this Apple OLED. I know people hated the overstated colors of Samsung panel but when they got rid of those, they seem to have gotten rid of the darker blacks and brighter whites that I remember from Samsung screens. The display looks very similar to the 8Plus which I guess was by Apples design and not necessarily a bad thing as the 8plus display is really nice. And as others have stated coming from a plus device to the X you do miss the extra landscape real estate which really bothers you when you are watching videos. Sure you can zoom but seeing someone top of their head cut off on a YouTube video really isn't the answer. Like others, I will wait for a plus sized version which hopefully would have this un-zoomed video closer to the 5.5" plus device screen size. Face ID to me is fine and in ways I like it better than touchID so no complaints for me there.

Finally the biggest reason is the price. Sure it is just 7 dollars more a month than the 8Plus 256gb I picked up a month ago but I already splurged on that as I was always bumping up against the 64gb limit on the 6sPlus before it. Part of me would have liked to see 128gb options still as well as I was in the middle where 64gb was to little but 256gb was overkill. I am the one that takes pictures and videos when we go places and with 4k recording, there was no way 64gb in either phone would cut it for me with the media I had. Then there is the voice in the back of my head saying next fall when Apple releases only the X style model, the price points will drop a few in typical Apple style. At that point I would feel silly for being the early adopter which is the reason why I did not get my first iPhone until the 3g was released.

Its a very nice device but just not for me, and it seems a lot of people coming from the plus sized devices. I do look forward to what Apple has in store next fall.

Wish they had a 5.2 ' Iphone X. The exact footprint of the 6/7/8 with the full screen of the X..

I have the Samsung galaxy s8 and the narrow and taller screen are a non issue for me. It looks cool.

So I really really wanted to like it because of the claim that it fits a Plus screen in a vanilla size. I guess technically that's correct, but...

The nail in the coffin however is this:

“At any level of brightness, modulation with a frequency of approximately 60 or 240 Hz is present.”

Also, Face ID sucks.

How bout you guys‽‽‽
i hate it

I really like my iPhone X and will not be returning it. Coming from the 7Plus the narrowness of the X I thought I had left behind but in no way is this any reason for me to return it since I like everything else about the phone and definitely consider it an upgrade to the 7Plus. I have no issues with the display and definitely prefer it to the already wonderful LCD screen on the 7Plus. Have watched about 6 hours of video on the X so far and the widescreen image is actually larger than than of the 7 Plus so that's a plus in itself. Having gotten used to the larger width of the 7Plus, I will be first in line to trade in my X for an X Plus when one such beast is available but will absolutely enjoy the X until then!

The cost was only one aspect. The screen size was another. And after having tried it out for a weekend I couldn't justify the cost in my mind. The 256GB model costs C$1730 including taxes in Canada. I'm a big Apple fan and always give them the benefit of the doubt when it comes to my willingness to spend it on their products. But this time I found it difficult. It happens.

Thanks for showing the comparison op. The width on the X is terrible compared to the Plus. The Pus actually fits the final paragraph in its entirety whereas the X doesn't. And let's not talk about the notch.

I tried to explain on here that the X is actually less of a screen size than the Plus in real term use, but people got sucked in by the spec size.

Now people might actually get it.

We all know the X screen is thinner but taller. It’s not a big deal. After having the 6 Plus, 6S Plus and the 7 Plus the difference in screen size is minimal. What isn’t minimal is the smaller package and lack of big, bulky bezels. Don’t miss my Plus at all.

I get it. Got my X a week ago. I'm still reeling from spending almost $1500 (including AppleCare). I love the form factor of the X, but hate the screen. Mine is going back tomorrow for exchange or return. I will go to the 8 plus if I can't get a decent screen.

That's what I'm doing. Going for the 8 Plus until there is a iPhone X Plus model at an acceptable cost (hopefully).

If I bought one I’d return it for safety reasons (which is why I bought the iPhone 8).

Don’t want to attract too much attention especially on sketchy sidewalks at night.

Funny. My X looks like any other phone in its case. If someone is looking to mug you, they aren’t going to stop just because you have an 8 instead of an X, indeed they probably aren’t even going to bother looking at what you have/had until after they have robbed you and went to another location.

What if they see the iPhone X THEN decide to mug you...

Someone who is looking to make some quick cash is not going to care if your phone was $700 or $1000. Whether it is a 8 or an X, they will likely sell for the same price (or trade for some drugs) a block or two down the way; they aren’t taking time to list on eBay where it will soon be useless anyway as it will be a brick no one can use once you report it to Apple. I have had a vehicle broken into for nothing more than a small flat of bottled water.

How would you know? Someone could see the iPhone X then decide to snatch it.

lol, okay. Whatever. Your phone, I don’t really care. I am just saying it does not look any different in a case than most other phones, including the 8 (unless you got an 8 with white bezels, then maybe yes).
