They aren’t UPS stores. These are main hubs (distribution centers) where packages are brought in on the large trucks and then sorted to put on the delivery trucks. They’re very large facilities, and they have an area where customers can pick up items that are held there.

This is a UPS store:

Well I’ll be forced to pick mine up from UPS this year. Apparently AT&T somehow fused my work street (shipping address) with my Home city and state- I’m in the DC metro area so they are different states and would cause the package to be delayed further so I asked for them to hold it. Caught it too late and phone was already preparing to ship at that time. Hopefully it’s a painless pickup process.

So I can pick it up as soon as the hub opens. Keep in mind it has to be the hub it's going to originally for distribution, not a UPS location like a store or pharmacy, that can take an extra day.

So the HUB is the CC?
Once you go to your tracking page and you select a delivery change and pick up at a UPS location, it will be the very first option.

Notice how the hub is further from me but it is still the first option because it's the main hub for distribution.

So there’s absolutely no additional delay for a CC? BC if there is I’m screwed BC they are closed Saturday and Sunday

CCs are the last drop before where it’s being delivered there won’t be a delay it just stays there as opposed to being loaded onto a truck.

I have everything delivered to my local UPS store. They sign for everything especially when I'm away on an extended business trip.

That's what I'm doing this go around (and I've changed it to be this way for all my packages). I used to have my Apple items sit at the local hub but the hours are inconvenient (they don't even open until 2 in the afternoon or so) and they are kind of out of the way. My local UPS store is less than 5 minutes from my house and is open from 9am to 7pm. My things generally arrive before noon and I can scoot out on my lunch break and get them.

I heard UPS store re route costs a day

Typically, having your package HELD at the CC/Hub will NOT delay delivery/availability... but having it rerouted to a UPS STORE will add one business day to the delivery/availability.

Interesting; that isn't what I'd heard.

Second time I read that. But I have it set up for all my packages to go to the UPS store--so it doesn't make sense that it would add a day. It's where ALL my stuff goes.

I also have everything send to my local UPS Store, personally I pay for a mailbox. In these situations you never have to worry about being at home to receive packages. I think the longest time they held a package for me was like three months. Every year for the iPhone (or the AirPods, Mac, etc.), I just deliver it to my box and when I get home that day I can head over and pick up all the packages. They accept UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL, Amazon... it's great.

just got off phone with UPS, my phone shipped today, to ask them if having it held will delay it, they said once it clears US customs they can check in the system whether or not requesting the hold will cause a delay.
If you request a pick up at UPS CC, this will not cause any delays whatsoever. If you, however, redirect to the nearest UPS Store, this can cause day and won't likely to pick it up till Monday (<--I never had issues with redirecting the package to the UPS Store and I was able to pick it up on the same day with no delays).

Just make sure your ID matches the carrier’s account holder name. They don’t give two rats about matching last names/address when picking up at CC. There is a special designation on these packages to only be released to the person on the label. Happened with my 7... forgot we’d put the account under my wife’s name when we switched from ATT to VZW. I’d done the hold for the 6 and 6s no problem. But the UPS lady would not release it this time.

I put both my orders on hold at my local UPS CC, both say they will be available by 8am 11/3. I guess we will see if that holds true.
Just requested the hold at CC. If it’s delayed I’m coming for y’all.

I do it all the time. With no guarantee drop off time and me having to run errands and pick my two kids up from school at different times, I don’t have to worry about missing the delivery
