I think I messed up. I opted to hold for pick up so I didn’t have to worry about being home to sign for delivery. But I did this before reading about CC vs UPS store. Now I fear it’ll be delayed. Can I cancel the request? It is still pending. If I go to my ups store tomorrow could they cancel the request on their end to ensure it still comes Friday? Thanks ahead of time for any advice!!

I'd try cancelling through MyChoice first, if that doesn't work, call it in.

I have no answer but that was a good question.
It will be at the one that’s closest to your house.

How can you tell which Hub it is though? Mine don’t name the Hub or Hub address, it just says my city and Destination Scan. There’s two hubs in this city so how would I check which one?
One hub is the actual hub, the other is a satellite hub. The one that sends out the driver with your package is the hub where your package can be picked up from. The main hub receives all of the packages and does the main sort. It will send out the packages that aren’t in it’s delivery area to the satellite hub.

Everyone here is talking about UPS. I preordered from AT&T and they use Fedex with no signature required. But can you hold at Fedex locations as well to be picked up in the morning?

Yes you can! Request it when it ships and not the day it comes in/goes out for delivery if you’re gonna pick up at station. If you chose to hold at FedEx Office it’ll be there after 9am and if at Walgreens, Kroger, etc it’ll be after 1030 (depending on your location/area - typically those are the times for FedEx)

What if your town has two CC's?? Which one do I choose then??

One labeled Destination

Add them to your list in the UPS app under Account Settings then Membership information. Beware it will give you an identity quiz or will text you a code for validation.
I'm not sure if this is the case for everyone, but I tried to do this last year picking up a friend's phone. I brought all of the info they said I'd need over the phone, but then upon asking for the item at the desk, apparently a notice popped up saying that only the receiver could receive it. It wasn't a UPS thing, they said it was the case for all phones (not just iPhone).

is there an advantage here? I will be home all day.

UPS doesn't come to either my house or my office until late, and so I have been picking mine up from the hub for the last three years. I can get it at 9 am. The last time I ordered it to my house, it came at like 8:30 pm (poor UPS guy), and I was frantic they were just going to do an exception. I wanted to give that UPS guy a beer for sticking it out that year, but since then I've always picked it up at a hub.

You can get screwed if you have it held at the depot and the driver doesn't take it to Will Call before they leave the depot.

It won't be at Will Call and they won't try to deliver it.

It's rare, but it's happened to me before.

Honestly, they know of the onslaught of iPhone deliveries and they have been doing this for a while. I am going to stay confident that they are going to pull it and everything will work out

This may be a dumb question but my wife and I ordered through the apple app. Ours are scheduled to deliver on Friday. We share a family plan with my dad who is the account holder. When I look at the purchase in the app, it has my dads name as the ship to. Will this be an issue? Also, my wife will be home but I will not so will they leave my phone with her?

NOT A STUPID QUESTION. dont request a hold, unless you bring your dad with his government issued ID

Whatever, dude. I pick mine up at a Customer Center every year: I’m familiar with them. I was just trying to help. Do whatever you think is best.

That is awesome.

The one in my area is quite sad and lacking by comparison.

When changing delivery to a Customer Center, does anyone get an "exception" on the status? Probably nothing to worry about, just noticed it.

Anyone have experience with having packages held at UPS Access Point locations vs CC? I am wondering if they require an extra business day or if I could have my package held there for pickup on Friday. On the UPS website it doesn't seem to mention any extra handling time but I know they aren't the same as a Customer Center.

Mine has shipped via Fed Ex with no option to hold for pickup so far. Does Fed Ex also allow for pickup without a delivery attempt with Apple product launches?

On the topic of whether rerouting to UPS Store adds a day, my experience is that it depends on how quickly you get to it and how much time left until the original scheduled delivery. If I do it as soon as I see an item has shipped and it’s longer than three days away it doesn’t seem to add any time. But if it takes me a while to get around to changing it it’s anything from Amazon with prime shipping it’ll end up costing me a day.

That’s anecdotal, of course, and I could end up with a delay, but I’m not comfortable with this one sitting outside the house.

I hope you're right! I am going to stop by the UPS Store Access Point I choose to pickup at tomorrow and see if it will cost an extra day, if so I'll probably see if they can cancel the request and let it be delivered as normal considering delivery is still 5 days out.

ive heard that FEDEX makes one attempt first

It depends. Every time I order Apple Product and ships via Fedex, I have the ability to request a hold for pick up and didn't have to wait for the first attempt. Once it reaches my city, it automatically goes to the nearest Fedex Office Ship and Print that I choose.

Did you order directly from Apple or from Carrier? If Apple, usually you can request a hold for pick up after the tracking has the "Picked Up" Scan. If it's from the carrier you ordered, they probably restricted it, but usually then after first delivery attempt you can then request a hold for pick up for those.
