Sure it’s a new design different from 6/6s/7/8

But minus OLED and home button gestures, and FaceID, both to sub in for touchID internally it’s an 8 which is a great device but still a 7s — naming convention thing to upsell.

So in other words being a 7s internally with a redesign and different biometric (and maybe this is the “gotcha” or dealbreaker for people right now), makes it a lot more mature than not, even for a first generation product. And the distinction of OIS on secondncamera unlike 8+ but still wireless charging just like the 8/8+

Plus we’re all iOS beta testers regardless of what version hardware were on with the [?] fix for I that came with 11.1.1 as an example

And with x.0 versions anyways every time the cycle restarts

I’m sure 11.3 or whatever it goes up to maybe even 11.4 will be better than 12.0 on X2 for a while
You’re the first person I’ve ever heard say anything about the X being "in beta"

the people that say it's a beta product or guinea pig phone are 99% iphone 8/8+ buyers that are buttheart about the X being the better product in every way

Design wise it’s beta. I wish my post didn’t get erased. Omg!!! There is a lot it lacks for a flagship. It doesn’t do anything that other iPhones can’t do except Face ID really. Not worth it for a product that has much maturing to do. Why isn’t the device usb c. Why didn’t they include a fast charger? Some oled screen issues. The notch was not planned on when it was on the drawing board I’m sure. They’ve had 4 years to come up with a killer phone, and all it has is a bit nicer screen and Face ID.

It’s a nice phone I don’t deny it. But does not scream flagship at me because of how much of it is like the other iPhones. Not enough separates it to justify me getting one. Other than a different way to unlock my phone which I don’t need it really doesn’t do anything else

Agree.

To me it's a beta phone. Apple will refine it next year, hopefully change the ugly notch.

Like what?

I wouldn't bet on the notch being gone until at least 2020. It's here to stay for now.
oh yeah notch is here to stay. it makes the phone recognizable. so many people already started asking me about the phone cause they saw it was the new iphone from pretty far away.

Just people who either cannot afford one, want to justify buying something else to themselves or decided they d
I think it's just a way of putting X users down so they feel better about their own purchase. It's strange, lots of angry 8 users on here for some reason. I think it's great Apple gave us options this year. Personally, I've had zero issues with my X so far.

My opinion also. Makes them feel better about their own decisions.

I could not be happier going from a 6S to the X.

And once again, people here are showing how ridiculously far they with stretch to call the X “beta”.

Face ID is not just for unlocking your phone, not sure how many times this needs to be stressed. Saying so just highlights how little you know about the actual user experience with it. It improves the experience within apps, and it will be interesting to see how developers use it further.

The notch will be here for a while, it was not just a design (to ID the iPhone like the home button did for so many years) but a tactical choice, which has been well explained. Many times. If you don’t like it, fine, but that does not make it beta or make your preference superior. Many have ZERO issues with the notch.

The X also had amazing gestures due to the killing off of the home button.

But yes, let’s keep saying it is beta because “notch” and “Samsung OLED”.

I believe the correct word is teething problems with the new iPhone X, specially a brand new phone with newer technology, but Apple will fix these in time as I believe they always do.

I find it so funny when people wanted Apple to catch up with Samsung , LG , HTC etc, and when it finally does its marked off as a "beta" product even when Ive said himself that people want things too fast and the X has been over 5 years in the making.

PS: Yes I do count Apple on par with the S8/S8+ (which they should be that phone is over 6 months old now) and the Pixel 2.

Pixel 2 looks archaic with huge bezels but given its a Samsung OLED is the superior choice to the plagued Pixel 2 XL LG screen While still having pure Android.

Same with LG V30, plagued LG OLED screen

Apple is in a league of Samsung quality devices, imo, but from people who prefer iOS of course.

They’re finally “caught up” and then some.

This years phones worth looking at (imo) are: Note 8, X, and Pixel2, 8/8+ depending on budget and preferences.

Everything else, whatever. S8 and S8+ are nice but approaching end of life in their cycle. And coming out in the beginning of the year is YEARS ago in Android world since those handset cycles move quick :D

I agree with you. Another reason I'd pick the X over the LG v30 would be the software adaption rate. I guess I could say that with anything but the Pixel 2 and 2 XL.

To me the phone is beta in a sense because it’s a complete overhaul of the phone. Just how the original iPhone got rid of the physical mobile keyboards, iPhone X got rid of the physical home button. That eliminates the point of failure and gives the phone better life expectancy. This will only get better.

Many people here trying to justify their purchases if its 8, 8+, x or whatever they just bought by making sure their phone is the best one.

The thing is, with any new design the first generation always having problems, and usually Apple ironing these issues the next year with the S version… thats why people that bought the X this year are beta users, they'll complain about problems Apple didn’t find, and hopefully they’ll fix it the next year for the rest of us. It was before with iP4, 5 & 6 and it will happen again with whatever will replace the X next year.

Enjoy your X, and i’ll enjoy whatever phone im using at the moment.

Regarding the iPhone X specifically, based on how the iPhones form factor has essentially been the same since the iPhone 6, I kind of feel the X is the closest Apple product to being a beta product especially since a lot of apps haven’t comepletely figured out how to utilize the “ears”.

Didn’t Tim Cook actually state the iPhone X will be able to do things next year that it can’t now?

Not to mention all of the little “issues” with the new display.

Jony Ive

I still wonder why he’d say that right as X releases lol

Yep, Jony Ive kinda admitted himself that it's a working beta. https://www.macrumors.com/2017/11/09/apple-jony-ive-iphone-x-change-and-evolve/

The X will become more polished and evolve gradually, so in that sense, the X in its current form is a beta, an expensive one too.

He's just saying technology evolves, as it always has. Each iPhone has new tech, doesn't make it a beta. The X hasn't had any issues for me so I am just not seeing it. Easily the best iPhone I've had
