Why does everyone hate the gold?

Have a gold 5s and love it. However the gold 6 with the white antenna lines is fugly. Black is a fingerprint magnet so went for white/silver 6 plus.
 
I don't dislike it, but I have to see it in real life.
The white antenna bands against the gold throw me off.

The space gray and silver hide them just a bit better.

i've had black iphones since it came out on verizon a couple years ago... i just decided to switch to gold. i preordered the gold 6+. i like it from what i saw... just wanted a change. as long as it looks good to you!!

I'm not even a fan of gold jewelry so I won't like gold. I think my skin tone looks better with silver so I'm silver/platinum/etc forever!
 
I really don't care what color the phone is because I put it in a case, but I gotta have a black/dark front.
 
I didn't like the gold 5S when I saw it in photographs, but it's gorgeous in real life. I'm hoping that the same will be true for the gold 6 because I just pulled the trigger on a pre-order. Mind you, I mostly ordered that color because it had the fastest shipping date :p These phones are too damn expensive and I'm too damn clumsy to not be using a case! If I like the color, I'll stick a clear case on it; if it's fugly as can be, I'll stick a colored case on it.
 
I like the gold. But then again, I'm a fashion blogger and jewelry merchandiser in addition to loving tech, so it fits me.
 
Still waiting for face colors. Why can't it be gold front and back? Or silver front and back?

I wanted the Gold but I was worried that with the shortage of the 6+ I wanted to play it safe as I did not want to wait to December. Due to my plan I was unable to purchase at the Apple store.
 
I love it

I thought everyone hated the Space Grey, it seemed to sell out slow compared to the Silver or Gold. I don't like the colour of full on actual gold, but there's something less intense about it on the iPhone.

I hate to burst your bubble, but that ship has sailed. The gold were a bit more in demand with the 5S, but that isn't going to have any impact on relsale value or resaleability at this point.
 
I think that the gold iPhone looks pretty decent and nice but it's something that I knew that I would regret getting. It's not real gold, it's just colored champagne gold. I don't wear gold (I'm a dude). I had the black 5, gray 5s, so I naturally went with silver. Plus it's the color of aluminum and would look SEXY next to my Macbook Pro
 
Hate to say it but samsung and lg ruined gold with their rendition of it in plastic for me. The 5s was subtle and ok looking.
 
Totally in the minority here it seems but I just love the white bands on the gold 6. It seems to be the only one where the face and bands match and creates a "flow" for me. At least in the photos.
 
...because gold looks tacky, and those white plastic antenna breaks look cheap.

Simple put its a year later so it lost its G status. Now it's just "Old" :D

As with the rush for the first white Iphone.

Was it popular last year? I've yet to ever see one in the wild. Apple didn't have many available for launch, true. But that doesn't equate to popular. It has a following. If you like it then great. While let other's mocking affect your decision? I'm getting slate gray. Some may say it's boring. But I like my phones boring and not center of anyone's attention. No amount of other's hate would change my decision. This is black/gray iPhone #5 for me.

You do have a point. My mother has the gold 5s and it looks not to shabby. But I don't like it with the white lines on the iphone 6.

The gold 5s was very popular in the UK, among the 13-17 year olds at my school. Maybe that's the difference, people on here are older and would prefer a more subdued black. I love both, not keen on silver though.
 
I don't hate the gold but I wouldn't get it because the front bezels are white. I prefer black bezels so I'd go for the space grey.
 
I thought the gold on the 5s was gorgeous. On the 6, the white antenna breaks completely ruined it. Looks out of place.
