I like the gold. Have it on the 5s and ordered it for the 6. I know it's not for everyone. And I like the white bands on the back of the 6 better than the white on the 5s.

Those have color-coded bands and I assume they're prototypes. The production model has white bands which look a bit tacky.

I think it's just too much gold for me. FWIW, I wouldn't have gotten the gold 5S either. I like silver...
I'm getting the silver because it matches with my MBP and also I have a dock that is silver aluminum color like the phone so everything matches on my desk. Not a fan of flashy.
I ordered 2 golds one for my son and one for me. The front side I like but let's be honest most of us buy a case and never see the back side if ever.
I looove the gold. When I first saw the 5S online I thought it was ugly but once I saw them in person I thought they were gorgeous. This year I wanted to change it up with a white-faced phone and immediately went for the gold.
The iPhone's gold is more of a champagne color, so I think it's beautiful and not at all tacky like a yellow gold device would be. I also love the white antenna bands. The contrast between white and gold is my favorite part about it. Honestly, if the bands had been gold or warmer I would have gotten silver or space grey instead.
It's all personal preference. I think the gold is far from an ugly phone, some people just prefer the other colors better.

I like the gold. I have a gold iPhone 5S and I ordered a gold iPhone 6+. Also, I like the white front better than the black.
It represents Bling. People in sites like this don't usually care about that sort of thing. Just my opinion of course.
I think the Gold looks cheap and flashy. I am traveling in the business world and descrete black rules.

The gold looked great on the 5S (which is what I'm using at this moment) but the 6/6+ Looks funny in gold, looks too blah or something.
I also do not like the silver 6/6+, just seems boring and bland
