I've never experienced a crash with any version of iOS. Never. I can't imagine what some people must be doing to make this wonderfully robust and secure operating system misbehave. But I'd guess it's not approved by Apple such as rooting or jailbreaking.

No rooting or jailbreaking here. And I didn't have crashes in iOS until I got an iPhone 5S running iOS 7. I ran iOS 7 on my iPhone 4S for awhile and no crashes there.

These resprings (quick reboots) definitely seem associated to Touch ID use. If you have a phone without Touch ID, then you might not be seeing them. If you have an iPhone 5S, then try turning Reduce Motion ON (Settings/General/Accessibility) and play with your 5S for awhile (you also must have Touch ID turned on).

Yes Apple can do no wrong and never release in-complete software  if you knew what you were talking about you'd know there is no jailbreak for iOS 7 and Rooting is not something that applies to Apple devices.

I haven't had my iPad or iPhone crash in all these weeks of running it.

I'm completely used to 7.0.4 now and haven't regretted upgrading my iPad to the latest.

Also, my 5S has been perfect so far since getting it on Saturday.

Why does iOS 7 crash so much?

Those with 0 issues r just bsing trying to feel better about their apple products

Or perhaps they're not having any issues. I know it might be a shocking revelation to you, but not everyone has the same experiences that you do.

The issue I'm having is the exact same that you describe. I have the iPhone 5. I don't know what is causing it and I haven't tried restoring it. Perhaps Apple will fix it in a future update.

You know, it's this kind of bizarre mix of arrogance and denial that gives credit to those who like to call many Apple users iSheep. I mean everybody likes to think only the other guy is foolish don't they?

This.

I say this as someone who is looking to buy a 5s but is very much troubled by the battery issues as well as the iOS7 issues. Yes they do exist! It's not in people's imagination. Neither are those people knuckleheads in case you were tempted to think that must be it!

Dump us a log of the system and any app that might be relevant.

Use this:
for OS X
for Windows

Select your device when plugged in via USB and then select the Console.

For readability you might want to put that into spoilers.

Everything else is nice guesswork, but no substantial help will arise otherwise.
iOS 7 is running fine here so far (iPhone 5 and on 7.0.4)

I've not had a single crash or springboard with my iPad 3 on iOS 7.0.4 but my 5s is awful '

Springboard and blue screens are daily events

I had blue screens before iOS7.0.4, but not once since. The blue screens I encountered were the iWork ones. You are still within warranty and, if your problem is real, Apple will give you a replacement.

I have both a mini retina and an air. I get tons of safari crashes (even with 1 tab open for all you low ram people), random app crashes, and stupid errors like the devices deciding not to screen tilt and lock being set to sound when returning from sleep mode until I set lock back to screen lock and then lock and unlock.

Last one has happened 3 times on mini retina and once on air.

Respringing / rebooting to Apple logo - software or hardware issue?

I am having the same issue with my Ipad 4... Purchased a refurb Ipad 4 32GB from the Apple on-line store on 10/22/13 and it would crash to the white Apple logo about once a week, then a bit more often. Took it to my local Apple Store on 11/26/13 and the Genius there swapped it out for a "new" (brown box) unit immediately. Now the "new" iPad 4 is crashing once a day to the white Apple logo. I will have several apps open and running several Safari tabs.... I get the timer wheel running but nothing is loading or "lost connection to server" message and then a sun shade pull down effect on the screen. Then the screen goes black and the white logo appears. Boots me to the start screen... When I swipe in the apps and Safari are still open. The diagnostic logs show a panic.plist event when this happens.

So is this a software issue or a hardware issue?

FYI, I purchased an IPad Air 32 GB for my wife while we were at the store and she has had multiple apps and Safari screens open and no problems so far... Also no issues with our existing iPhone 5 and 5s at this time. All of them are running iOS 7.0.4

Still a software issue. It's comes down to the software not being optimized properly. People are having issues on new and old devices too.

Most people I follow on Twitter say they're phones on iOS 7 (mostly 5S's) crash or are just littered with bugs. I still can't believe people still try to say how good iOS 7 is.

Mine crashes much less often... on iPhone 5 and iPad mini non-Retina. Overall, iOS has crashes significantly less than Android. I've owned multiple Nexus devices and crashing is common versus rare in iOS.

Had about 6 crashes today
Some straight after using fingerprint scanner
Some with launching chrome/safari
Think I might restore and start from new

5s: passbook respring errors with Amex and MobileDay.
4s: whole phone crashes installing large apps like inifinity blade or iWork apps.

I don't disagree, but lot of folks aren't having many problems. I'd say the frequency of issues are largely determined by the apps. I have a news app that crashes every time I use it. Other than that, I'll only have a respring once or twice a week. I've never had a Touch ID crash but folks using Twitter have problems.
