I believe it's worse to keep charging your phone at 50% or keep topping it off...you need to let the battery use all of its juice down to 10% or less that is what I have always been told.

SE has been really great for me. Been using it for 7 days now so have a pretty good idea of how the battery lasts in different scenarios for me. I never use low power mode - as I need my emails fetched as often as possible.

My use is very simple though - I just need a communication/music device - zero social media stuff etc.

I'm extremely diligent with all my settings for the program, and every app installed - and everything I do not need, or will never use are all disabled.

Average daily use for me is about 15 mins phone, 20 texts, 15 emails and 3 hours music (AAC files).

Over 24 hours I lose about 12% battery average.

(in the last 12 hours I'm down to 98% right now - half of that sleeping)

0-1% overnight.
2% every 2.5hours music (256 AAC)
1-2% for a 15 minute call (cell reception is poor and usually 1 or 2 dots on reception bar)

The rest is just emails and texts. So, not a lot of screen time :)

I do connect my SE to my Garmin sometimes for activity up to 4 hours. This connection is Bluetooth to my Garmin, and live streams my location and data online via phone cellular for others to see realtime. 2%/hour.

One night I did have 2.5 hours to kill - so I downloaded and played the game Limbo for 2.5 hours straight and lost an extra 18%.

I'm OCD about numbers - blessing and curse :)

So, phone is perfect for me - couldn't be happier. With my usage - maybe I could get more from a 6+ etc, but the small form is what brought me back to Apple after using BB, Samsung, and Lumia since my iPhone 1 :)
This great but you never told us your end of day results from the battery stats on a full charge. Usage vs standby

Are we confusing nickel based batteries with lithium ion? I know there are big differences. With nickel based batteries, the advise was always to drain it all the way down and charge it all the way up when you first got it.

This is what I got today.

It is known that fully discharging Lithium batteries will destroy them. But Apple undoubtedly places 1% far enough from the actual fully discharged state to prevent this. They also probably place 100% far enough from the cells' max to maximize cycle life.

My iPhones regularly get very low before i charge them, and they tend to start giving up on me around the 450 cycle count which is not far off Apples 500 cycle specification for the life of the battery holding 80% charge.

Jon Rettinger from technobuffalo says he is having terrible battery life. He is having a camera drain issue though.

used it quite a bit. battery life on this phone is excellent. slowly enabling more features to see if drainage occurs.

watched a lot of youtube, and podcasts. this phone is legit af

In an unrelated note, this thread isn't the best advertising for the cellphone networks! I haven't seen many screen shots with more than 2 dots of coverage! Guess maybe all those network coverage commercial might need to chill out some??

This is so true I don't think I've ever seen 5 full bars if strength in Verizon, they must have cut back to save them money.

So does my BBRY Z30. It has a 2,880 mah battery and lasts 2 days under solid usage. I don't think it is much competition for the iPhone SE. Anyone can put a large battery in a phone, surround it by cheap internals, make the phone bulky and heavy, and then have great battery life. Making it that cheap is difficult, but it isn't hard to make the phone.

I don't know what version of Android that cheap Chinese phone with the huge battery has, but whatever it has it probably won't ever have an upgrade released. And it certainly won't be able to run Google's latest Android OS in 2018. But the iPhone SE is going to receive and be able to run the latest Apple OS in 2018 and I suspect also in 2019. Is your Chinese manufacturer going to be able to sell phones for $179 in 2018 when there is a huge market of used iPhone SEs that are available at that price and are still very good phones?

Well my phone is 317g but that's nothing really. The phone has Android 5.1 on it and yes it gets OTA updates.

I totally agree with you on the longevity of the SE - If I didn't I wouldn't have forked out £439 for one. I also agree with your point on the SE in 2018+. I was going to buy a 5s 64GB for £199 but then I read it didn't have the features I wanted (AP,4K etc) so I didn't buy one. Otherwise it would have been a bargain.

Yeah and that SE is going to be 199 in two years and it will still be a beast with great battery life.

Cutting back signal doesn't net them more money. You'll only get full bars if you have a short line of sight to the tower, which isn't very often.

Why do you need 4K on a smartphone when it's beyond the ability of the human eye to detect such detail on a small screen? BTW science says that not me so don't shoot the messenger.

um, people dont record in 4k to watch in on their phone. its usage is for those that want to post on youtube or mirror onto their tv.

Given the medium has not gained much traction yet due to the fact people keep their TV's on average 7 years then it's hardly a priority on today's smarthphones is it. I'm sure if a company claimed its product was made out of lightweight 'worzite' some people would run out and buy it.

and when did Apple cater to the lowest common denominator? they normally cater to the cutting-edge.

OK so in four years this phone will still be relevant since it can record in 4K.

not to mention video streaming sites that can host and stream in 4K

I'm at 78% after receiving my Sim Free SE yesterday (n69ap chip) and I charged it to 100% and pulled it off the charger. Just had to plug it in so I could tether to my MBPr (I don't like tethering while not charging as we all know that kills the battery quickly).

But, 78% from 100% and here are my stats so far on a fresh install of 9.3.1. I don't know if this is good or bad at this point in time, but it seems to be doing pretty good. I don't get the greatest signal inside my house with VZW and I don't have wifi in my house as my fiance and I both have UDP's through VZW. (The battery jumped to 79% b/c at that point I had the phone plugged in to my Macbook).
