I would just say that the HTC One X is the best smartphone available today and it is not even debatable.

I love how people dance around it and say "best phone for you" or "different strokes for different folks". That may all be true...you may prefer an iPhone over the HTC One X and that is certainly your perogative, but the fact is, you prefer an inferior device.

Hey, this is coming from a long time iPhone user that used to think that it was iOS or nothing...once I handled the One X and truly experienced what it has to offer, I realized that the iPhone is inferior in every way.

I can already see the next post..."troll" "troll"...well, I invite you to look at my posting history and you will see that I am anything but. I love my mac, I love my iPad, but the iPhone is a weak product right now compared to the top of the line Android offerings. That may change when the next iPhone is announced, but as of right now, it is what it is.

Ah it seems like your still in your new toy phase of "ZOMG this is the best phone EVAR!" Ive been there too just a little while ago with the Galaxy Nexus so I know there's no point debating with you as you have your mind made up atm.

Give it time, you will come running back eventually like I did ;)

Yes it is. It's too big for starters. And the camera's blue cast doesn't help either.

Plus the fact that it only has a 24% bigger battery than the iPhone while trying to power a screen that's 34% bigger than the iPhones + LTE doesnt help either.

Just by chance have you spent any time at all with a One X? I have, it is better than my 4S in about 90% of meaningful metrics. Unless iOS 6 is something truly impressive I am looking to get out of the iOS field after 5 solid years.

Android 4 is so far ahead at this point it's embarrassing. I think this is something most diehard Apple fans just don't understand for whatever reason (Well I used to be a diehard fan, now I think they are simply chasing profits).

"Inferior" is dependent on the criteria you're judging it on. Different people have different criteria. I've covered in detail in this thread what I want from my phone. I want the best at photography, videos, security, updates, audio, navigation, games, voice commands, hardware integration and accessories.

Unless you disagree with my statement that the iPhone is the best in all of those categories, and can substantiate why my claims are incorrect, then you are in-effect agreeing that the iPhone is not "inferior" for me.

Meh, I've spent enough time with the Galaxy Nexus to know it simply comes down to personal preference instead of being biased to one or the other.

iPhone ended up fitting my needs a lot better, same as the OneX fits yours.

Saying any one OS is better at 90% of meaningful things is simply a biased opinion trying justify ones purchase choice. I ended up with the iPhone 4S as the best phone for me but you won't see me make outlandish statements like the 90% better one you did :p

Finally, a worth opponent. I read your initial post in this thread. Impressive! So now, I am forced to spend some time on a daily itinerary so we can compare. Allow me some time, as I'm sure it took you some as well to formulate yours.

See you soon. :D

That's funny, because when I read your post I said to myself, "Yes, someone who disagrees with me, but actually wants to have a productive conversation about it!"

I await your response.

:p

I'd be more inclined to have a productive conversation about it if you would post some things you prefer about Android to iOS, because all you've done is find a bunch of things that iOS does better than Android (some are debatable), and then post them as your "needs."

However, nothing is perfect.. there must be SOMETHING you wish your iPhone did, that an Android device would do.

For example.. I wish Android had a pre-installed iMessage/FaceTime equivalent. Skype is good though.

Been 7-8 months for me and haven't felt the need to run back :D ... even though I still have the iPhones
I have several friends that have switched to the One X and haven't looked back.

Honestly, I switched to the One X to mess around with something new over the summer and thought I would definitely go back to the iPhone when the new device is released.

After using the One X for the past two weeks, I can tell you that Apple will have to come up with something revolutionary to make me want to switch back. I haven't missed my iPhone even slightly.

Thanks for the link my man, but I've already got it bookmarked and visit there as well.

Sorry to inform you, but as a ex-iPhone user, I think it's fair that I use this board as well.

Just thought I'd help you out since you seem lost with all the One X gushing :)

Can someone please explain why ios is better than android to me? I still don't understand that. I already know that ios has more apps and games but I got an ipad for that. What does ios do better that android doesn't? Lets take a look.

1) With google I got everything synced. Mail, contacts, calendars, even music and web searches. Its not just synced on my phone, I got the exact same content on my computer too. Syncing apps is super easy too. I just search for an app in my browser on their website and I click on it. Then it automatically sends that app to my phone from my computer. It automatically recognizes what phone I have and if its compatible and it automatically installs the app. I don't even know how its possible.

I'm syncing everything mentioned above, besides web searches. If you log in to your Google account with Safari, however, it should sync that like it does with any computer.

2) With titanium backup I got all my apps and system data back upped. And it automatically makes new backups twice a week. And it automatically syncs this to dropbox and my phone storage. I can set this up to do it in the middle of the night while I am sleeping!

You can do this via iCloud, or iTunes automatic wifi sync, and it won't require a third party app constantly running in the background.

3) With dropbox I got an app that automatically uploads my pictures to my dropbox accounts. I can set it up that it does this only when I am connected to a wifi network. Preserving my data plan.

Since I'm already syncing to all my computers, I tell DropBox on my PC to sync that folder, and I now have all my photos on DropBox, without a third party app constantly running in the background. If I want to sync to DropBox manually, I use an app called PhotoSync.

4) With tasker I have an app thats let me automate anything. For example I got profiles that syncs my data such as mail/facebook every 1 hour and then goes back to a state with no wifi/gps/bt/data. I got profiles that automatically switch mobile data on when I launch certains apps such as the browser. This way I got 21 hours with moderate use out of my htc one s and I still had 20% left. The possibilities are really endless and I am addicted to it. Its fun and functional. Anyway its too hard to explain if you have never heard of it but you just cant pull this stuff on your iphone.

That's a third-party app constantly running in the background, which may not always be desirable. GPS and mobile data won't take up any battery life while not in use, but I can see the benefits of turning off Wifi and Bluetooth. A quick search of this app tells me you can do some pretty cool stuff if you possess the basic programming knowledge required to run the app.

My experience with these types of apps, is the location based functions take up too much battery to be useful, but the other capabilities can be convenient if you dedicate some time to consistently manage the app.

Download a new app? Don't forget to add it to the Wifi/data list or you won't be able to use it. Oops, I scheduled Bluetooth to be off during this time, but I want to use my Bluetooth headphones, gotta go to the app and disable that so it doesn't keep disconnecting my headphones. About to play an intensive game? Better go and turn off my tasks for the next hour so I don't have any performance issues...etc.

5) stock ROM already has more customization than ios such as putting bookmarks, apps, google search bar and other stuff on your home screen. And the ability to put just everything you use on your home screen while hiding all the other stuff far far away. Something you just can't do with ios. But flashing custom ROMs puts the customization on a whole new level and its just pure fun. It keep things interesting and you can really give your phone your own personality. I am not even a power user.

I'm with you on the stock ROM. If you want to customize your home screen, Android is the way to go. I recommend Android over an iPhone if this is important to you. I never, however recommend custom ROMs you find posted in message forums. Huge security risk.

I had an iphone 4 updated to the latest firmware and that thing is slow as hell compared to my htc one s. I prefer the colors of amoled a lot more than of lcd and I prefer a bigger a lot more than a 3.5" screen.

What specifically is slow? If you prefer amoled and a bigger screen, then the decision is easy :)

I disagree. I gave a detailed description of why I can never switch from an iPhone, describing how I use my phone on a daily basis. Imagine watching a debate, where one side says, "I refuse to participate in this debate, until you come up with something that helps my argument."

That doesn't make sense. When someone makes a good point (as Surjavarman did above with the Tasker app), I admit to it. As I've said before, I have no problem being proved wrong. So far I've been criticized both for posting things Android can also do, and for posting a bunch of iOS exclusives.

One person says, "I'm not sure why [blank] is in your list, as Android can do it too!"

While another says, "All you did is cherry pick the iOS exclusive features and say you need them!"

I can't win with you guys huh? :)

I'm simply suggesting that your "needs" are not "needs" and are actually "things you found that the iPhone can do better."

If you can list some things you wish your iPhone did that Android phones can do, I would be more inclined to believe you're not talking out of your ass ;)

Easy there tiger with the language. No need to get that mad because DodgeV83 made a well thought out and accurate post that you just don't happen to agree with.

What? I'm not mad and I didn't use any offensive language.. "talking out of your ass" is a figure of speech.

Sorry if I've caused offence; it wasn't intended.

I posted this in the One X thread but it's relevant here in response to this troll ;)

After pre-ordering and using the One X for about a week, I switched back to the iPhone 4S. The One X was fun for a while but then the little annoying stuff began to creep up and started to hinder the entire user experience. FYI- LTE is unbelievable and that alone almost kept me from switching back.

My major issue with the device was that the multitasking is completely crippled compared to the Galaxy Nexus and stock Android ICS. Even the iPhone 4S multitasking is far superior to the One X. I started a thread over at xda developers and you can see it's now 73 pages long with hundreds of complaints.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1646409

Also, the AT&T version of the device has a locked bootloader which prevents users from installing custom ROMS and Kernels. When I used the Galaxy Nexus, this was one of the major benefits of Android over iOS so without this, the device is crippled (again).

Another major issue (which may surprise some) is that email is absolutely awful on the One X. First, push notifications were completely whacky and sometimes took 15+ minutes to notify me of new messages. Another thread I started about the issue on XDA has many other users confirming this behavior.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1640686

My second issue with email is that HTML emails don't fit the screen. You're forced to scroll back and forth all over the email just to read what you want to see. It's cumbersome and simply ugly.

There were other issues with SMS notifications and Wifi being brutal (supposedly HTC acknowledged this issue and is in the process of developing a fix) that together, made the device a pain in the ass.

Those are the major issues I had with the device and why I ended up switching back to the iPhone. That's not to say the One X isn't a great device b/c it is...I just ran into too many problems and have too many gripes for me to use it as my primary mobile device. Coming from an iPhone where everything is silky smooth and not glitchy at all, these were major annoyances that I didn't want to have to start dealing with. The One X may have more features but the iPhone 4S is a better device overall.

I would just submit this:

If the girl in that photo is your wife or girlfriend then I would say you needn't worry about iOS, Android, WM7 or Symbian for that matter...you've got it good!!

Agreed, but I wonder how pretty the face was! What a mystery, man!

But it's true i'm also too into the ecosystem, if Android OS or Windows Phone OS could give me all the apps and the features and the integration with my Mac, then i'll be on board!

I am more than willing to have a legit conversation about this. I think you are correct on the multi-tasking, but I disagree with you on the email. Personally, I think the new Gmail 4.0 app is fantastic and I've had no problem with push.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to switch back to the new iPhone when it is released, but I truly believe that the HTC One X has set the bar very high and it will take quite an offering from Apple to get me to switch back.

All that said, if Apple comes through with what I would like to have in a phone, then I will be one of the first in line on release day, but for now, the One X is tops.

Not sure what you're talking about at all. I agree that the GMail app for GMail users has all the bells and whistles but the iPhone's email app is second to none. The fact that HTML emails in the GMail or stock email app don't even fit to the screen makes it cumbersome to say the least. You're forced to scroll back and forth horizontally just to read an email. It's a joke.

You're probably the only person who I've seen who has no issues whatsoever with push on the One X. Every user I've spoken to has either minor or major issues where emails are not coming instantly like on other Android devices. I used the Galaxy Nexus and notifications were fantastic on that device...same with the iPhone. On the One X, some emails would come 15 minutes or later (and yes, before you mention it, I made sure smart sync option in the email app wasn't checked).

Multi-tasking is also a complete clusterf*** on the One X. For a device that is running 1 GB of RAM and a top of the line Dual Core processor it's totally unacceptable. Sense is so bloated that HTC was forced to manipulate the way Android closes background apps and tasks and, in doing so, they crippled the device.

Trust me, for the first week I had the One X I was enjoying and just as elated as you are now. Give it some time and the bugs and nuances will become more than you can handle. I'm anything but a fanboy...I've been back and forth with the iPhone and Android devices for the better part of 3 years. I'm even looking forward to the Galaxy S3 and the potential for 5 nexus devices next year. As an unbiased user, I can definitely say that the One X is NOT the best device on the market and basically useless for power users.

What? I'm not mad and I didn't use any offensive language.. "talking out of your ass" is a figure of speech.

Sorry if I've caused offence; it wasn't intended.

No offense taken. :)

I honestly can't think of anything I wish the iPhone did that Android phones can do. Even if the phone has a cool feature I want to check out, every time I play with an Android phone I walk away unimpressed. Sure, some forum members have mentioned some cool features, but there's always something to sacrifice to get it. I've yet to see a good mobile implementation of Flash (Photon Browser I mentioned above does it all in the cloud), multitasking is supposed to be "better", but every time my Android friends show me their phones, They have performance issues and always say, "Something must be running in the background".

There are so many things I've grown used to, that it cannot do, I just can't wrap my mind around the possibility of switching.

Thing is, there's nothing to "believe" about my claims. I'm not saying I saw a UFO, nor am I saying the iPhone is the prettiest, I am making definitive factual statements. "My phone can do this this this and this, whereas your phone cannot When making definitive statements like this, my credibility is not relevant, as my claims can be easily verified or debunked after a minute of google searching.

Even if I'm the biggest Apple fanboy there ever was, and admit my "needs" are fabricated it doesn't make my argument any more or less accurate. If I said, "These are the things my iPhone does better, and I love it, so I can never switch." would you participate then? :p
