I was clearly impressed by your well thought out, laid out and executed post. I had none of the usual "this is better than that" drivel. Objective, clear, concise and to the point. One thing that stood out, you list many apps and the great things you can do with your iphone. I drive an Audi, I too can list tons of things I like about it. It did occur to me recently, am I convincing overs to buy an Audi or am I convincing myself that buying an Audi was the right move? Blind devotion to what may be an over priced toy or a status symbol, when more practical options exist. But I digress.
I used your format to list. This is to show you, not convince you, that everything your phone does mine can do as well. Which is better is a matter of opinion. One that will have to be made by others, as clearly you and I already have our own. Hopefully, I can have you look at Android again with an objective eye.

MORNING
Early to bed, early to rise makes a man strong and wise. hahaha. Sorry. I can't get out of bed, dread it, but once it's time then there is nothing to it but to do it. A simple alarm or my 1year old son waking up at 5:15am EVERYDAY is enough to wake me up. There are 2 applications that I am testing right now to see which I like better,
sleep bot tracker and
sleep as android. From what I see both apps function like yours aside from the itunes song. Early morning is a mad dash for me, I need to focus. No music for me.

WORK
Work starts when walk to my car. I run 3 application
rf signal tracker,
open signal tracker and
wigle wifi. 2 proprietary android apps as well. These applications are running in the background every time I leave the house. Basic idea is to map cell network coverage, wifi signals (unsecured/secured) and the behaviour of your UE (user equipment=phone). The technical details would drown out the point, but if you are interested PM me and we can discuss this offline.
The amount of data gathered from these 5 applications in an urban environment is staggering, files can be up to 20mb. Not much, but when considered they are KML, CSV or XML files the amount of data is over 200k lines of data. Now try to manipulate that into one cohesive file to import into google earth. Not fun. What is the point of all this? As you go up the corporate ladder, your technical skills drop and your management skills elevate. Try to explain to a business person vast amounts of technical data. haha. Blank stare. But if you can make a pretty little map that shows the area, i.e. Bogota Colombia, with the cell towers, the power of the signal coming in, where call drops occur, call setup failures and audio issues are a major problem, life is much easier.
VNC for remote access to my server locally, VPN for internet. There are a few choices on both platforms so at this point it's a matter of best tool for the job. My daily results are pushed from the phone to my repository on my server, from there I can use VNC to move the information to my macbook for further data manipulation if needed. Or just use my home network to move things around, but we are talking about the abilities of my Android phone so I threw it in for another feature.
Just got a notification on my phone. I have a reminder from my google calendar, time to go home. Syncing my calendar, contacts, documents between my phone and google is....well, "it just works". I have my calendar within which are 35 categories (I know, I'm going overboard with the organization), I have my family calendar and my work calendar all pushed to my phone. All my contacts, everything about everyone that I need or may need at my finger tips.

LUNCH
I go to the awesome cafeteria we have for food. Maybe today I will get some Thai. At this point it's more of a social interaction than playing with the phone. Working for the company I work for is hard to not talk about this manufacturer or that phone or that platform or the OS or did you hear about that code? It's a very good proving ground for converting iphone users to android. Already converted one, now onto the second person. Which reminds me, being an iphone user you probably have AT&T. AT&T by default does not allow tethering without making you pay a few dollars more and what about hot spots? Being an AT&T customer you can call them to have them unlock your phone. It is a 16 digit code, allowing you to use your phone on any carrier that uses SIM cards. It is the LAW. They have to unlock your phone, new users have to wait 90 days compared to existing customers get the code within 24hrs of the request. Somehow, I get the feeling that if this were the case iphone users wouldn't have to unlock/jailbrake their phones.
Food was great! I'm stuffed, time for a nice cold refreshing beverage from the free cafe followed by a nice cigarette. Ah...the simple pleasures of life.

Back at my desk I just thought of a few questions I have concerning iphone.
1. Can you make data calls on your iphone without an app? Data calls, meaning turn off the cellular, turn on your wifi and make a call?
2. Is that built into the OS?
3. How do you change the battery?
4. SD storage available?

I'll continue with another post later to address the other categories you mentioned, time is not a big luxury that I have. See you soon.
