I did. I just don’t want a sub 1080p screen on a 6.1 inch device. Could be the same ppi or not. Still not buying it in 2020.

Your anecdotal evidence counts for what it is: anecdotal evidence.Compared the 8 plus against an 11 instore and the 8 plus is just as bright and vivid but also has the higher resolution making it sharper than the 11. So don't agree it's the best LCD yet.
Great post ...
How do i find the same "Rendered Pixels" test for IPhone 11 ?
3 facts :
1.Interesting that Plus models must render same 2,74mil pixels as 11pro/xs, but then dowscale.
2.X,XS, 11pro has same "width in points" as 6s,7,8
3.XR,11 has same "content resolution" as XS Max, 11 Pro Max, so you can't see more content but, bigger and in higher dpi. I still thought that Max versions show more content as well.
The 8 is a 4.7 inch screen vs a 6.1 inch iPhone 11. At 4.7 it was tolerable for me. But at 6.1 inches ?

This thread is so flawed in its bases ...
First of all: iPhone XR / 11 display IS NOT a 720P screen. Apple doesn’t have to comply with “Android” resolutions, and they are using a screen that has 30%+ more pixels than a generic 720P display.
other than that, no one is considering a full RGB matrix vs a PenTile OLED matrix, where subpixels on the RGB matrix are different and “real“ resolution can’t be compared.
A 326 PPI RGB matrix is not less sharper than a 400+ PPI PenTile matrix.
resolution is just ONE of the parameters defining the quality of a display, just like megapixels are just ONE of the parameters defining the quality of a camera.
Those numbers are speaking more about quantity than quality.

Every single half competent analysis about the displays showed a much better screen on the iPhone 11 than on the iPhone 8.
I fully understand ppi. Still isn’t a phone that should be released in 2019 for the price you pay. If I only had $700 I would rather go back to Android then deal with the 11 res.

according to your reply, you don't understand PPI at all.I fully understand ppi. Still isn’t a phone that should be released in 2019 for the price you pay. If I only had $700 I would rather go back to Android then deal with the 11 res.
What about the S10e?according to your reply, you don't understand PPI at all.
BTW you can buy whatever please you more. With an higher resolution, and a lower quality display like most of the Android phones out there.
I really don’t get the complaints about the screen in the iPhone 11. I’ve got an 8+ and the screens are on par with each other. Totally good enough for a mobile phone IMO.

I think that’s the issue with a lot of people as they don’t compare like you and I have. They see a figure on a spec sheet and get it into their heads the performance is inferior. I’m very glad my buying choices aren’t hindered by that sort of mindset to be honest.Yeah, I got the daughter a new iP11 for Christmas, the wife a iP11Pro, I've got an X, sitting around I've got several older models 6/7/Plus flavors, etc.
I took a good extended look at the device when I set it up, snapped photos, compared the display to the X/11Pro, and it's terrific, good color, excellent brightness, no "resolution deficiency" by my assessment (which didn't involve thinking about the specs ...)
Let’s be fair, nobody needs to really do that. If you’re not seeing a difference in normal use, it’s pointless obsessing about trying to find something for the sake of it.Here's a test everyone who has a Plus iPhone and regular sized iPhone can easily do to show a GLARING discrepancy in sharpness between the two screens.
Go to Settings/Accessibility/ and make sure the screen Zoom feature is on.
Then go to the home screen and zoom/magnify the screen by double tapping it with 3 fingers. Zoom way in.
Try it on the Plus iPhone and then on the regular iPhone. The regular small iPhone screen rendering looks like utter crap when zoomed in. The Plus iPhone looks great.
That's the ppi issue raising its ugly head.

I understand PPI pixel per inch. I’m saying I’m NOT buying a phone that isn’t 1080P in 2020.

It’ll be a long time before I’m using an OLED device with the price being so high. I like the quality of LCD though so I’m not in an urgent rush. I know a few people now who owned iPhone X’s and upgraded to the 11. I’ve asked them about noticeable screen quality and they are not bothered as the LCD on the 11 is good enough. I’ll likely go to it or the 12 from my current 8+ and I can’t say I notice a significant difference. I’m not one for studying and obsessing over screens though.I hear what you’re saying - I’m asking this with genuine curiosity - you mentioned 326ppi is ok on a 4.7” device (like then iPhone 6/7/8), but not won the 6.1” iPhone XR/11. Why is that exactly? Was it more that at the time (5 years ago) you’d be happy with 326ppi on a new phone but today you’d expect higher?
I agree, though after I spent a few weeks with multiple devices I really couldn’t bring myself to use the iPhone 11 with it’s display after using the X and 11 Pro side by side with it. I’m not knocking it at all - I mentioned it multiple times that I’m in the camp who thinks 326ppi is still good for an entry device like the XR or 11. But I think when spending time with both you can really start to appreciate the OLED display over the LCD. Though at the end of the day they’re all excellent displays.
And I bet if you asked 99% of the people using the XR or 11 if they understood what pixel density or OLED is they wouldn’t know what you’re talking about. Actually my brother wanted to upgrade from his X this year, and asked me if he should get the 11 or 11 Pro. I got him the 11, and then he asked what the 11 Pro had that was different, and I asked if he understood pixel density or OLED and he looked at me like I had two heads. He loves the 11 and thinks the display looks excellent.
I posted this way back or possibly in another thread, but I found the comparison interesting side by side (11 Pro, 11, X). Not really relevant to pixel density but interesting nonetheless.
