Currently Android devices (certain ones of course) have the highest screen size to physical size ratio. And don't quote me but I think windows phones are second. So your last paragraph isn't very accurate unless you meant across the board...

Screen size is not a reflection of computing power.

I agree, I like the current iPhone size.
Yet another "finger goes from here to here" advocate... LOL
BTW; iPhone 5 have enough room to implement 4.7" screen. There is so much wasted space that can be utilised to fit a larger screen size in current form factor.
Notice that the back plates align perfectly to the front screen size.
Tech to implement is/(was 10 moths ago) here today, only Apple can make it happen and since we did not see any snapshots of front of upcoming 5S, maybe, just maybe this will be the big surprise announcement of upcoming September Keynote, I hope so anyway...
PS; Apparently Apple didn't implement this screen format in iPhone 5 was due to Sharp unable to provide low voltage screens at the time of iPhone 5 release, they are now... Go and figure...

Some people like the smaller screen , is that so hard for you to grasp?

Some people are not brainwashed and like a bigger screen, is that so hard so hard for you to grasp?
PS; Why can't we have 2 different sizes of iPhone to begin with?!
As i have mentioned in my previous post, every product that Apple makes have multi screen sizes, why NOT iPhone?!
Peace :)
BTW; Don't you like the render above of 4.7" iPhone? It is still the same size as iPhone 5...

My point was your bashing people that prefer the smaller screen. And the mock up IMO is ugly. it can be done better then that.

I just wonder, what would be the reaction to Apple releasing bigger screen iPhone from all of you defending the current iPhone 5 screen format?
Would you readily embrace it, or would you criticise Apple''s decision to do so?
I think I know the answer already ;)
Bigger iPhone will come eventually, it will NOT stay 4" forever...

The competition gives us choice.
Apple seems to want to get rid of it of its customers.

Apple certainly is regressing. "I have one simple request. And that is to have sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads" on my iPhone. :D

Apple is a successful business with a in depth business plan and they are not regressing because they don't have a feature you want on their iPhone.

There are plenty of competitors with larger phones so I would suggest switching if you need the larger phone.

All the flagship Android based phones come with QuadCore processors.
I guess that is not reflection of computing power as well ;)

They need the power and more RAM to run Android.

many of us want a larger phone.
i went from a 4 --> 5 and I can't go back. Even the 5 for me right now is too small.

i remember all the crying about how no one would buy the iPhone 5 if it had a larger screen...looks like people did.

Many of us don't care, though.

Apple will do what Apple will do. They will continue to sell iPhone's and make money regardless of whether or not they offer a larger screen or not. Personally, I thought the 3.5" was the perfect choice and chose the iPhone 5 not for it's screen size but for it's benefits over the 4S. I will say, that my thumb can't really stretch much further..

Screen size is not a reflection of computing power.

So you are saying Android phone manufactures AREN'T packing tons of computing power into their phones?

Granted iOS might be more efficient etc. but as far as the iPhone goes its the least amount of "stuff" currently.

Your last paragraph is becoming even more inaccurate.

First off Apple is selling a "less expensive" phone NOT a cheap one.

Their experts have determined that a "less expensive" phone will be more popular and provide more profit than a larger screened phone.

Sorry, you loose.

Android is so poorly optimized (given that it has to run on just about everything) it takes roughly twice the resources to get the same results in terms of performance. The smartphone spec wars are completely meaningless because 2GB of RAM or a Quad core, run through geek bench, means next to nothing. Then you factor in the optimizations each company is sneaking in to inflate their scores and you can see that nothing about specs on a phone means anything about the user experience.

User experience is key to having a captive market, not being one of the 15 other manufacturers that touts how big their screen is ;)

I don't get the whole cheap phone from apple. They already sell the older gens for cheap. What's the difference? And yes Apple needs to make a bigger screen. I switched to Android years ago and haven't looked back. And those that say a 4.7 or 5 is too big obviously have girl hands or haven't used one for an extended period of time.

True, but walk into an Apple store and take a look at the stale, underwhelming products on their tables, and you might start to think otherwise. Everything in there is a big YAWN.

And yet when you walk in, all you see is a sea of people using all that boredom. Amazing huh?

It's the most profitable retail space per square foot on the planet....clearly a big yawn for consumers

You must truly live in the lala land to believe that.
Sorry to give you reality check, but lala land is Apple ;)
