So your comment revolves around this assessment.

Apple didn't release any phone without a 3.5mm jack.

Can you save it for after Apple actually releases their phone, and not revolve around sketchy rumors?

If the rumors are to be believed and Apple is removing the headphone jack one of the motivating factors will be that it is the biggest pathway for water into the circuitry of the phone, one of the biggest reasons customers attempt to return them, need refurbs, etc. No one wants to swim with an iPhone. Apple merely wants to prevent them from falling into water and creating customer service headaches.

Maximum profitability is nothing new in the last 100 years, so let's get that on the table. Closed headphone system for pure profit is speculation. Innovation will never dry up because people will always find a way to do something better, faster, less expensively with more functionality. Apple( and most other companies) historically does not operate on the principle "customer be damned" at all costs.

Show me the innovation in the Macbook Pro and Macbook Air in the last 5 years. In fact, if you remove the iPhone and Apple TV for the past 5 years, has Apple truly innovated anything? Nope.

Refinements aren't innovation. Refinements don't get people to spend $800 on what used to be a $399 iPhone.

'Force'.

3.5mm to lightning adapters are already starting to show up. Almost certainly, Apple will also provide a solution for that. No one is forcing anyone into a 'closed' headphone system.

Adding a dongle to an iPhone is awful, no one will tolerate it. Have you seen the size of these adapters by the way? They're huge.

BJ

For me it's because the 6S Plus is so good. Last year I was excited for the 6S Plus because the 6 Plus struggled with performance. This year I have no complaints about the 6S Plus and no desire to upgrade just because.

I think it's a bit hyperbolic to say no one will tolerate it. I will. I'm sure many (most) others will too.

That said, the overwhelming majority of the time I use the ear pods that come with the phone, or bluetooth (eg. in the car, or my Jaybird X2's I use while working out, etc). Both of those usage models will remain intact and perfectly serviceable with the new phone. The few times I use something other than one of those I've already mentioned (tracking my drums, video editing, etc), using an adapter will be perfectly fine.

I and many others have jumped ship recently, maybe the iPhone 8 will bring me back.

I just tried to jump ship with the note 7. It's beautiful, but it was a bit too much software for me. I may give it a few more days, but the note 7 is a lot of phone with a very steep learning curve.

There's also an annoying "unfortunately google contacts has stopped syncing" bug that I can't seem to get rid of even with a cache partition wipe.

Oh that message drives me nuts. It comes up ALL THE TIME.

Which phone do you have? My contact won't sync at all. I love the look and feel of the note but I'm so entrenched in the iOS system. I would move to down agnostic apps if I knew the Note 7 would have little to no bugs or crashes.

Currently the SGS7 Edge. It's my team's test phone, I got it so they could test responsive designs on our web pages because the SGS5 was the biggest piece of rubbish we were ever saddled with. Now we've got the SGS7 I bought and I use it sometimes, when they're not using it.
That error message comes up
ALL THE TIME.

The recent demeanor Apple is showing towards the iPhone mirrors, in large part, the demeanor Apple showed towards the MacBook years ago. There are parallels between coming out with a brand new breathru product and then managing it towards profitability instead of innovation.

But it's still supposition on your part as to apples real decision making process. But I get this is your forum stated opinion.

We go through this every year.

It's quite amusing.

Quite a bit different this year. This is the first year they are taking away a major feature on the iPhone that many people use without at least replacing it with something better. At least when they switched from the 30 pin connector to lightning we got a better connector. And even that it delayed me upgrading as I skipped the iPhone 5 since didn't want to have to use/carry different cables for my other family member iphones and iPads that still used 30 pin.

For me reviewing the last few weeks or so really looking how I use my iPhone I've come to realize this is really going to be a PITA. At the gym I use a headset that I plug into my iPhone for music or into the gym system so I can watch/listen to TV when doing cardio. So then I would need two headsets or have to carry an adapter that I have to take on/off depending what I'm doing... My "sports weekender car" I have an older but very good audio system that I plug in AUX AND also can charge my iPhone at the same time. Will a adapter allow me to do both? Same thing at home. While my system can do Bluetooth I've found it to be inferior to using line in/aux as I get lots of cutouts. I guess I just have too much interference with all the other stuff in my house. Also I typically charge it at the same time. Again is there going to be an adapter that will allow both? I took a business trip via plane and plug my headset into my iPad to watch movies, then switch to listening to music on my iPhone. Also while there I plugged my headset into my rMBP - so again need different headset or have to carry an adapter... Am I going to need 2 or 3 of them or always have to carry it with me? How much are they going to cost?

Are these things the end of the world? No, but really has me thinking if it will be worth upgrading at this time. Are the new features going to outweigh losing a major feature I routinely use. With the leaks of the new features I'm thinking probably not. So that is why it is hard for me to get excited about the new iPhone!

I don't get "excited" over a phone. :)

I'm interested in the technology and features as long as they are useful to me.

I'll move to one that does this which doesn't mean one with an Apple Logo stuck on the back. ;)

Yup. It says that I'm not into little green robots that come into a screeching halt after I try to upgrade them the first time.

You don't like a Lumia. Fine. I like them. See how that works?

Oh.....and I've got every app I need in my Lumia. So try again. The little green robot is doing great work. As a coaster.
The Galaxy S7 is Sammy's top selling model and if there were a flaw which renders the device unusable as you claim there would be furore all over the Internet by now.In addition I use a S6 at work which has been upgraded to Marshmallow without any issues whatsoever.

Lol.Windows Phone does not even have apps for Facebook, and Instagram .Are you seriously implying it's better than Android?

Not only that,it lacks an Amazon App.It has zero Google apps.It lacks support of 70% of banking instituitions.Their flagship phone is made of plastic and lacks any premium feel as compared to the devices that preceded it.Its not even in the same league or anywhere close to the Galaxy S7

It also lacks the slowness, lag and instability and malware inherent in the infrastructure. It lacks the breakability
of certain models. So I'm happy for what some phones lack. Lol, I know what phone you were REALLY discussing.

You are 100% sure about the bolded. You may be right, I don't see how you can say that with 100% certainty.

With the latest updates ,Windows Phone is laggier than Android.Android Nougat is faster than both iOS 10 and Windows 10 Mobile.Instability?Windows 10 is in a perpetual state of beta on both PC and Mobile. You really have to be trolling with that one.lol

I would take glass over metal and especially plastic any day of the week.If you spent 500 bucks on a phone would you rather it felt like a $30 Android phone from Walmart?Apple agrees with me as the 2018 iPhone has a glass back courtesy of the iPhone 4 returning due to popular demand

Breakability is irrelevant for me as I slap on a body protector the moment the phone is out of the box

I'd rather have a phone that didn't crack when I drop it, but we'll see.

As far as the bolded, you said this as a fact, considering IOS 10 is a beta product and you haven't seen one spec from the iphone 7. So please show me where this o/s is faster running on an iphone 7.

Just wondering, if you have a pair of jay birds, why bother with the EarPods at all?

Good question.

I find the EarPods significantly more comfortable. They're far and away more comfortable than the Jaybirds and have a nice, full sound for earbud style headphones. A great combo for me. Also, I can shove them in my pocket many times a day and not worry about the little bits detaching themselves, etc.

The Jaybirds I use almost exclusively while on the treadmill. Something wireless is critical; no matter how careful you are your hand/arm will find a way to clip the headphone cord and send everything crashing to the ground. Something that is sweat resistant is, as well. After having gone through countless options, the Jaybird X2's have been the only ones that last and last and last and also sound pretty decent. (I really wanted to like the JBL/Yurbuds Inspire Ironman earbuds, but after going through two sets of them in as many months, gave up on them). Too many of the bluetooth earbud style headphones out there are real tinny in their sound.

Ahhhh. Ok man. I can't say I do the same thing. I have the newer version the jaybird freedoms and after using these for a few months, I can't imagine going back to wired. I had to one time when I forgot them at home and had to use the EarPods and I felt like such an uncivilized savage always worrying about where the wire was and the noticeable decrease in sound quality was just...annoying. The freedoms easily sound as good as my parrot zik 2's and that's saying something.

The freedoms have this new "my sound" app for iPhone that lets you customize the way they sound and let me tell ya, it makes all the difference. Especially at the gym when I'm running, doing bench presses, really anything. I appreciate the hell out of Bluetooth. And I love I can just throw these in my pocket and not worried about tangled wires.

It'll be interesting as these newer earbuds get better over time that take away the wire completely like the Bragi dash or the new Samsung ones. I want my next headphones to be just buds I stick in my ears. It's like stepping into the future lol

Just the other day I have watched once again Steve Job's iPhone 2G Keynote from 2007. In the light of it I can not get excited over the new 2016 iPhone.
What. You can't imagine jobs saying "and we have no headphone jack" as a feature and getting massive applause?! I'm really hoping there's some killer feature we just haven't seen yet from the leaks. Wasn't 3D Touch unknown in the last iPhone? I don't know. If not, it's shaping up to be the most boring iPhone update ever

I'm totally more excited to get the Note 7 but I'll hold off till the Apple announcement. I'm currently using the iPhone 6S Plus and Samsung S7 Edge. I really love the fast charging of the Samsung and wish Apple would have that on the next phone but most likely won't.

For me it's because the 6S Plus is so good. Last year I was excited for the 6S Plus because the 6 Plus struggled with performance. This year I have no complaints about the 6S Plus and no desire to upgrade just because.

Valid point of view. However, there is a large number of 6 users out there with phones over 2 years old. Virtually all will not leave iOS because the 7 will not be water Proof to 600', use Quantum Encryption, or have OLED.
I think sales of the 7 will be sufficient. I plan to sell my 6 and get a 7. If I owned a 6s I'd keep it. :apple:

Try reading and comprehending first, OK?

I said I wasn't into little green robots that come to a screeching halt the fist time you try to upgrade them. I was referring to my Note 4 which turned to absolute trash after upgrading from KitKat to Lollipop which is why I never even tried Marshmallow. That was the final straw for me as far as Android. I bought the SGS7 because we always keep all major platforms as test devices at work so since the SGS5 was rubbish on Lollipop and the Note 4 was rubbish in Lollipop I got the SGS7 and I use it on my third line when my team doesn't need it. I couldn't have been speaking about the SGS7 because that came out with Marshmallow and I haven't received an update to Nougat.

Now as far as the supposedly nonexistent FB, Instagram, and banking apps, note below. Oh I only use Amazon on my iPhone because that's the only one I keep tied to my PayPal, as well as my two primary banks because the iPhone is mostly the phone I use for financial transactions.

So.....before talking nonsense, research it first.

Now....I don't care what you think of my Lumia 1520. I love it when I use it and that's all I care about. It's got a great camera that has literally replaced my point and shoot. It's got Adobe Photoshop Express and I love the pictures I get with it when I use it. I've had no issues at all with Windows 10 on it.

No don't care that you think the SGS 7 is the answer to the world's problems. I think it's rubbish. The stupid "unfortunately x.....x has stopped working" makes me want to put it in the rubbish bin where I think it belongs. THANK GOD I've got my iPhone 6s Plus on my first line and my iPhone SE on my second line and the third line is open to either the Lumia when I feel like it or the SGS7 when, against my better judgement, I put the third line SIM into it. Most of the time I don't use my third line, though. It was my mum's line that I used to pay for and I just can't call my carrier and close it out even after she died last year. So the phone on that line doesn't always get put in my bag.

I don't use either of these, but it's a pretty telling thing if true.

It's not true, as shown in the pictures I posted above.
